In: Edwards, Garlett, L. Delaney

Out: Black, Adams, MacMillan

Harper moves to the forward pocket and Garlett is the sub.

Bring in L. Delaney to cover Tippet. Frees up Thompson to be third man up.

Edwards replaces Black in the forward line.

I see what Scott is doing with J-Mac and Atley back there and it potentially looks very good. J-Mac is making the right runs, just letting himself down a little at times with his disposal, which is odd because he normally has very good skills. I'd like to see Kennedy added to that group at some stage and all three have the pace and skill to really hurt on the rebound, and Kennedy also has the ability to take a genuine third tall type.

Those three in full flight would be a joy to behold.
Yeah, Kennedy will slot in there nicely you would think.

So far, in the "should not have been dropped" category we have Garlett, LA, Warren, Edwards, LT, Cam Delaney x2, Mullet...

...And in the "should be dropped" category we have Tarrant, Cunnington, Ziebell, Bastinac, Harper, Firrito, LT, Black, Luke Delaney, LA, Patch, Jmac and even Boomer...

...And in the humming along nicely category we are left with Swallow, Wells, Petrie, Wright, Thompson, McMahon and Atley.

Interesting.

Not too sure that anything we do will make a massive difference, however I thought our defence was better this week with McMahon in it. FWIW this week would like to see Hanson, Garlett, Anthony and Edwards fit into the team on the basis of: trying to have some more accurate goal kicking, their performances in VFL and rest and rotation, would probably out Tarrant (I have read all the +'s and -'s and watched him play but he just seems to lack the 'spark' for AFL level) and give Adam's, Harper and Black a run in the 2's. Oh and I also liked the idea of making Spud the Sub as in a kind of shock trooper/gladiator sort of way :thumbsu:

Early thoughts.

In: Hansen, Garlett, Anthony, Speight
Out: Black (has had a run in the 1s - good prospect), Firrito (sad but inevitable), Harper (find more ball in the 2s), Cunnington (find more ball in the 2s)

Ins are definite and I could be convinced to have Macmillan & Adams in the outs. Taz is a better option than Azza.

Does anyone actually think Anthony will improve these two areas of the team?

I can't see his disposal being any worse than 8 other blokes in the side.

He's best 22. You're tripping if you can't see that.

Sure, he's not a well rounded player (yet?) but that only serves to give him something in common with 14 other blokes that are currently in the side.

He also hits the scoreboard and runs to receive, two things that we need more of from our midfielders.

"Garlett finished yet another strong game with 32 possessions at 94% efficiency (14 contested), seven clearances, seven tackles and a goal...."

.....Anthony matched his effort with 35 disposals (14 contested), nine clearances and seven tackles of his own from just 72% game-time.

That's pretty ****ing impressive.

(OUT):Adams needs to be rested. He's had 1 to many hits to the head and its affecting him..
:Greenwood nowhere near up to the standards that are expected from him. His ability to break a player grabbing him is bad, he cannot handball and his kicking skills can only be compared with Simmos ( sorry Simmo)..He has also lost the ability to tag.
:Harper comes on as a sub and struggles to catch his breath. Needs to make an impact but doesnt.
How can he possibly play out a full game if he struggles when he's a sub.
:Black didnt do anything to warrant him staying in the side. maybe use him as a sub.
(IN) :Mullet needs another go.
:Hansen he's time is now . Can play in various positions so versatility may get him a game this week.
:Speight, would like to see him tried as a tagger.
:C. Delaney or Pedersen.

Then l would get Speight ,Zeibell, and Cunnington to do a 3 way rotation tag on> Dangerfield and Thompson
With :Wright tagging > Sloane
l cant see it happening but it would be nice .:)

Early thoughts:

Out: Black - Harper
In: Hansen - Anthony

B: McHamon - Thompson - Firitto
HB: Atley - Grima - Macmillan
C: Gibson - Swallow - Wells
HF: Adams - Petrie - Thomas
F: Harvey - Tarrant - Hansen
R: Goldstein - Cunnington - Ziebell
Int: Wright - Anthony - Greenwood
Sub: Bastinac

Black back to the twos for a spell and Hansen in provides us with the flexibility to throw a tall loose in front of the Adelaide key forwards if they start getting on top. Harper needs a few games in the twos and Anthony, if he recovers from leather poisoning, to come back in.
Maybe bring in L. Delaney

OUT Greenwood, Black
IN Hansen, Anthony

You know it makes sense. (Could also bring in Garlett for Harper maybe)

If Basti is relegated to sub, then on what grounds does Greenwood escape criticism? He's older and more experienced as well.

It would be interesting to see how Hansen, Tarrant and Petrie go in the one forward line. One of Hansen or Petrie would have to push right up to a wing you'd imagine. Surely Tarrant deep. Personally I like Hansen at FB on Tippet, but that would probably mean dropping Spud.

I would be tempted to bring in Speight for that HF linkman role that Adams is playing. I would also switch Bastinac for Anthony, as the defensive link man. Basti as the sub looks like a reasonable move in BTron's team.

I think I have seen enough of Greenwood. Early on I thought we might be missing his mature body, but he has been awful. If Garlett comes in he needs to play a full game in the guts. The only obvious ommission there IMO is Greenwood.

Lots of changes there which wont happen because we won of course

Black won't get dropped. He's a big part of our future and he's fit.

In: Hansen, Garlett
Out: Firrito, Harper

Harper is just too small at the moment, he should only play against other young sides.

Hansen, Petrie and Tarrant start forward. Petrie to Tippett if he's mauling Thompson or Grima.

NFI for the sub, maybe Wright, I hate the ****ing sub rule.

I'd play Firitto in the guts this week just for something new... maybe he can be the big bodied mature mid we are searching for atm.

I have also thought about Firrito in the middle - he did play through there a couple of seasons back, and I agree that he could be a good option as a mature strong body. Alternatively why not try a Lindsay Thomas in the middle?

If Pavlich can play in the middle I see no reason as to wht Firrito couldn't do the same. However, the coach is still undertaking pre season training, so I can't see him doing that.

Thomas needs space to be at his most effective. I wouldn't have him in the middle. He gives us too much up forward.

I wanna see Spud go in there early in games/quarters and smash some blokes.

Put it in the heads of those tagging that they are gonna get hit.

eg vs St Kilda put Spud in there for the first 7-10 mins of a quarter and his entire job is to smash Clint Jones at every stoppage.

It won't happen.

We are enduring the 3rd season of "The Apprentice"

Winning is not important.

I have always thought this year is a development year. We are not good enough to compete with the best teams at this point in our development as a side. It's not rocket science. We have been smashed by injuries to our most talented players at certain stages in their development (Ziebell, Bastinac, Tarrant, Black, Grima, Greenwood, Kennedy etc) and this will take years possibly to catch up. We have to stay realistic in order to remain sane. The tide will turn, unfortunately, it will most likely not be this year.

We need to get Daw, Kennedy and Speight into the team asap. They are the x-factors/talent/line breakers we are crying out for imo.

Speight is our best option for sub. Kennedy's pace and kicking skills are crucial and Daw is IMO our best 2nd ruck/forward option. He has a unique skill set that no one can compete with - it may only be one or two things that he does, but a tackle or a contest where his enthusiasm for the contest may just inspire the rest of the team. That's how i see it anyway, we are just too predictable, too easily shut out of a contest.

lol changes, why bother. Celebrate the fact that we will lose by 141+ this week and things might start changing at the club.
