Weekend Wrap and "Liked, Learned, Hated" right here -- How did tipping go?
Out sauce, Mackay
In: Menzel & Rob
Mackay wasn't bad on the weekend, but will he stand up? Don't think so tim
Menz is a guy who makes things happen, and in finals where moments happen you need inspiration
He doesn't have to be involved all the time, he has to take his moments.
We've seen him do just that for Carlton. Playing a safe plodder over him will not serve us well when we're in the trenches looking for a moment or a play to break things open
Got a feeling that wigg will get a game as they pulled him out of the sanfl last week. Feel he will come in for thommo most likely or they may go with CEY for the bigger body in close. ROB for jacobs is a no brainer and feel tex will sit out another and be back for freo or the showdown. Think hampton may be in team within 3 weeks if he improves his fitness.Dr Carl says Walker to miss one more
Jacobs out, O'Brien in
Otherwise unchanged![]()
I can only hope the stupidity of Wigg missing a game prior to then having a bye when he is burning up the SANFL wasn't actually the case and he's been earmarked for a debut this week.

Its hard to press your case without playing sanfl unless your david mackay... Terrible management of wigg.
David is our Mister everywhere. He's down back, in the middle and forward. Nobody runs around as much ineffectually. Actually I digress, I did see him take a ball on the wing at full pace in the second but the resulting disposal was naff. Eventually tightness in match ups and physicality will overweigh his light foot. When that is will be a relief in many including myself. His replacement should also receive the same amount of critical analysis.Mackay just really impressed at training. Training form is the most important form at the Adelaide Football Club, has been for over a decade.
Revised prediction
In:
Walker, O'Brien
Out:
Jacobs, Mackay
Thommo rested the following week for the Perth trip (replaced by CEY). Wigg gets shafted unless an injury pops up to one of Laird, Brown, Smith, Atkins, Douglas or any of the other mids not named Thompson.
No, won't play unfortunately. Been given a decent taste this year but he will be locked away now for next year, unless there are a few injuries.any chance Milera gets a game? Love watching that kid play and he will carve the Lions up
CEY has been emergency 10 times. He will play this week. Thommo will rest.Congratulations on completely missing the point. I didn't say a damn thing about CEY, and my post has nothing to to with any like or dislike for CEY (or Lyons).
My point was about the way the selectors seem to be operating this year. SANFL performances seem to mean almost nothing whatsoever - CEY can play out of his skin and won't make the emergency list; Mackay is dropped, doesn't play a game, and goes straight back into the senior team. Pyke seems fixated on using just 25 players (noting that VB & Knight are out of the equation for the rest of the season). There does not seem to be any intent to use any other players, and no incentive/reward for players performing in the SANFL.
It's really not, when you consider that the selectors basically don't care about SANFL performances much. Performances at training are given a much higher weighting, and this has always been the case. I assume it's because they're achieved against higher quality players. Its hard to press your case without playing sanfl unless your david mackay... Terrible management of wigg.
Wasn't last week, and the coaches/selectors were at pains to say that Wigg & ROB were very close. CEY, not so much.CEY has been emergency 10 times. He will play this week. Thommo will rest.
Dude, play the ball, not the man.Alright time to ignore WW, must be related to dmac he's a moron.

My money is on 2 changes:
OUT: Jacobs (ankle), Thompson (rested)
IN: ROB, Wigg
CEY will probably be named on the emergency list.
So aslong as menzel trains hard hes in the team? Sanfl form has a big part in who makes the 22. The reality is the selectors seem to overrate certain players. If you dont perform at sanfl level you dont get anywhere near the best 22. The reason cey cant get into the lineup is because the other inside mids have been playing well. ** This is not a Mackay or Wigg thing. It's been going on for years.

Helps keep the players fit ready for their main hit out at training. In that case, why even have an sanfl side?
Seems an awful lot of money to spend on something we care little about.
The importance of having a SANFL team is that the whole squad gets to train together, and you would think the game plan would be very similar - thus giving us depth of knowledge of what is required for a position (albeit players won't be up to AFL speed). The fact that we've had so few injuries has limited the need for call up - hard to drop players after 8 wins on the trot, for example. In that case, why even have an sanfl side?

I'm not saying that SANFL performances are irrelevant. What I am saying is that training form is given a much higher weighting, and it is not an issue for players to be selected despite not having played a game the previous week (either due to being the traveling emergency, or SANFL bye).So aslong as menzel trains hard hes in the team?
