We should just deploy 50 sam grays because defensive pressure.

Mate Sam Gray finds the ball on a regular basis. No time for doing that when you're applying defensive pressure. Make it 22 Jake Neades thanks.

Inb4 impey 3 tackles and 11 touches with 45% DE.

That inferred pressure though.

Impey is actually good at applying defensive pressure.

I'm just shocked that after one of the greatest wins of the Hinkley era, where his "plan" has finally clicked, we make a significant structural change.

At least in previous years when he dropped a tall for a small he did so after a loss. I thought the excellent team performance might save Eddy, but apparently the forward structure finally appearing to be effective wasn't enough.

And the relevance to his low game time % is?

Compared to AO he had more angles to run out into.

Not knocking Eddy, just suggesting what the "knock" from selection may have been about for this game.

If I'm Ross Lyon and an opposition with a few years of being notably poor at spotting forward targets picks a *relatively* one dimensional decoy lead up forward who is out of gas every few minutes at this stage in his step up to the level, I'm going to tell my defenders to run off him every time.

Way off there... 2016 all australian and rebounding running defender Dane rampe played on eddy, last year rampe averaged nearly 20 touches a game. Last week rampe had 9 disposals and provided nothing running off the half back line, all this despite playing in conditions that should have suited him.
I'll guarantee you rampe gets 20 plus tonight v the dogs.

Exactly and its my love of the club thats makes me not want to see this kid put on the strip for PAFC. He is a woeful player, cant kick, has no size and tbh has no place in this team. He would literally need the entire midfield group to go down then s gray, k amon, impey, krak, SPP, Atley, drew, then defenders like jasper, harts, dbj, broady, etc etc then he may have a chance to warm the pine but apart from.that no good.

Listen, your clearly an Arsenal supporter so mediocrity is the norm for.you but Im different I desire success at every moment, and this year anything short of a prelim is a fail! Bonner aint taking us to a prelim.

#WengerOut

I am not even going to bother.

> make lots of changes and freshen the side up with new talent
> beat Sydney
> nah, i liked the team that was shit in 2015 and 2016, lets go back to that.

Ports.
Me Ken
Me King
My Club
2015 and 2016......you get what you deserve.
It's obvious Eddy needs to go back to the sanfl to see if he can kick goals there.

I totally agree with your point,

But Rampe broke his arm at training on Monday.

Did Ken feel that our defensive pressure wasn't up to scratch against Sydney and that we needed improvement?

He said that when a guy like Impey is available he plays. He rates him very very highly.

Not a good selection. Really think with freos poor defence eddy could have snagged a couple of goals and really stretched the defence out. Impey should have to earn his spot back after a win like last week
Also would have given us a chance to welcome Eddy to his new home. If he kicked a few it would have given him confidence
and made him more of a threat when we play the neighbours. After 1 game in slippery conditions against last year's GF'ists
Eddy now knows he doesn't have Ken's confidence. A masterstroke in people management. Maybe Impey and Sammy Gray
can team up and give us a masterclass of poise thru' elite kicking skills and decision making.

That's fair, I also rate Impey highly, but you understand my frustration at the selection of a developing fringe player at the expense of a team balance that just gave us one of our best wins in memory.

If this follows the script, we'll beat Freo because we're a better team than them and then he'll feel that his decision is vindicated and then after a few weeks he'll decide he can afford to drop Clurey as well.

At least at this point we're still probably playing an adequate number of talls, but we lose a lot of flexibility now because if Trengove needs to go to defence to deal with Sandilands and Westhoff is floating down the wing as well, we're down to Dixon as the lone target being double or triple teamed again.

While I'm disappointed that Eddy misses out, overall I'm not melty over the decision. We were probably pushing it by being too tall anyway.

Were we though?

If we were "too tall", surely a wet day against Sydney in Sydney would be the game where we were brutally exposed for our bad decision.

But we weren't. In fact quite the opposite.

For the first time since 2014, we beat another side in the coach's box. We out thought them and forced them into playing right into our hands. It was glorious.

If the Eddy rule applied to all ,some of our players that have been there for years would have struggled to have 5 games up now.

It's like groundhog day.

An inexperienced KPF has a quiet day but is important for structure on a wet day against an opposition who is incredibly tough defensively.

I could effectively just copy and paste every argument I made about Butcher's dropping in 2014 and 2015.

I'm excited to see you posting again. Your melts are undoubtedly my favourite, mainly because they make sense and people argue with "naaaa mate".

We played 8 "talls" against Sydney, I'm not overly bothered if that drops to 7.

S. Gray out Impey in is all. If not then unchanged. Ken up to his ol tricks again.

Heaps disappointed with the Eddy decision. Was really looking forward to getting behind him on Sunday.

I guess its also because, of all our tall forwards, Eddy's the one with the genuine forward smarts. He knows how to time his leads, knows how to turn his player inside out etc.

In my book he brings more balance to the structure than Trengove or Westhoff.
