Well jacko will need to play KPD next week against either Lynch, Jenkins or Walker, so Jacko down back and Eddy up front shoulda been the way in prep for the game against the Clowns.

How much do you want to bet JT won't be played KPD next week? You should think b4 you post. You just look silly

Westhoff has to be under pressure to now with eddy.
if he doesnt fire a shot again this weekend he would have to be in the firing line.
Its a shame theres no sanfl this week for eddy to play in same with monfies and krak

So if we win by like 10 goals, where does Eddy stand?
Still as should have been picked. If Ken really wanted Impey in, fine. Replace S. Gray with him, keeping a good structure. It's always tall for a small as Kens 'go to' move after a loss. We've been exposed for lack of height year after year, even the tail end of 2014 with injuries we didn't have replacement talls in and it, IMO, was why we didn't finish top 4 (and quite possibly cost us a flag). If I had hair I'd be pulling it out.

Freo are shit, win by 10 goals and it provides zero justification for dropping Eddy. More the opposite as others have said, for his development under less pressure.

It all hinges on Westhoff. We've played him as a tall wing / high forward where we've been basically playing one short on the field IMO. He should move back to an Eddy like role with Impey replacing his spot on the field.

That does ignore the AFL development aspect of the decision though. I thought Eddy didn't deal with the pace of the game against Sydney. The only way he does that is by playing.

Way off there... 2016 all australian and rebounding running defender Dane rampe played on eddy, last year rampe averaged nearly 20 touches a game. Last week rampe had 9 disposals and provided nothing running off the half back line, all this despite playing in conditions that should have suited him.
I'll guarantee you rampe gets 20 plus tonight v the dogs.

I'm sure I've been beaten to the punch but I'll bet you 10k that doesn't happen

Ken said that Impey comes in because he's quality that helps with defensive pressure in the forward line, and that Eddy didn't do anything wrong, it's just that they wanted Impey in and Brett will play four or five years for us.
Butcher clone confirmed.

Also would have given us a chance to welcome Eddy to his new home. If he kicked a few it would have given him confidence
and made him more of a threat when we play the neighbours. After 1 game in slippery conditions against last year's GF'ists
Eddy now knows he doesn't have Ken's confidence. A masterstroke in people management. Maybe Impey and Sammy Gray
can team up and give us a masterclass of poise thru' elite kicking skills and decision making.

Don't you think Eddy is use to not having the coaches gift him games? Isn't that his thing? I would expect Brett to go back and work his but off.

The melts here are embarrassingly childish

It's like groundhog day.

An inexperienced KPF has a quiet day but is important for structure on a wet day against an opposition who is incredibly tough defensively.

I could effectively just copy and paste every argument I made about Butcher's dropping in 2014 and 2015.

Obviously you were at the game but I wish technology was that good that you could show me where Eddy ran that made our structure better. We're 1 tall up on last years structure and already in rd2 thats not enough. Should we drop Young, Wingard and Robbie for Frampton, Ladhams and Lobbe?

Edit. Sorry for the double posting. Stuck in East Timor with lightning slow internet. But at least I'm on my way home and will be at AO sunday

We're 1 tall down on the structure that just saw us beat Sydney in Sydney for the first time in a decade. Why on earth are we trying to get closer to last year's structure which was absolutely horrendous?

In the same place Butcher stood in 2014 when we dropped him for Sam Gray to play small forward and won by 113 points. That did not make us a better football side, we just won a squash match. That vindicated Ken's decision, we then went too short all season and it cost us a spot in the top 4.

Oh christ spare us the Butcher comparisons

FFS I'm talking about directly and only about structure.

We played too short all of 2014 and lost games because of it, finishing 5th when we should have been in the top 4. We've just made a similar structural move in 2017, indicating that maybe Ken learned absolutely nothing from his mistakes.

Eddy is top 25 and I only see that improving to top 22. He's on solid ground at the moment.

Came for the melts. Didn't disappoint. Ty

My take. As long we win who gives a flying Mark Bickley elbow.

I'm not convinced our structure is greatly impacted by swapping Eddy for Impey. He was the third tall behind Dixon and Trengove/Ryder last week, which is two more talls than we had in our forward line for the majority of last season. I'm happy to back Kern in with this one and see what things look like with an extra runner in the team.
