I know it's a bit early to be putting this thread up, but considering the game is fresh on people's minds, I'm wondering who people think might get dropped.

Will Sellar or Smack get another game?
Does Walker need another game at SANFL level?
Who comes out for Goodwin? (If he's ok to play)
Anyone else deserve to get dropped to regain form?

Thoughts?

Smack and Sellar should both get another game.

I didnt see much of Shirley today.

Out: Shirley
In: Goodwin (if fit), 19th man

if Goodwin isnt fit

out : none
in : 19th man

Maybe a bit premature in some peoples eyes but I think we need to bring Tex back, and Goodwin if he's fit to go, both in for Shirley and maybe Sellar. I was very impressed with SMACKs debut game.

Tex deserves to be recalled but I dunno who they will drop for him.

It would be great to bring Tex back in, but he went down to the SANFL to work on his defensive work. I know he got 5 goals and thats great, but he'll only come back in if he's improved his defensive pressure.

I think that we probably need him back in though. Don't know who'd go out for him.

That would unsettle the team, Sellar came in as the ruck for Moran. If anyone would stay it would be him unless they make SMACK the back up ruck. Tippett has to stay in the forward line full-time for a bit.

Tex has to come back tho', 6 goal halves at Norwood, is exactly like last year, he gains nothing from that. over reaction IMO, he starts on the bench and then is expected to get the pace of the game against,North and Sydney, twoof the worst flooding teams in the comp. At least start him on the ground to seeif he can get his hands on it early. He doesn't have the luxury of Tip's size and bulk.

It's also a cop out to use his defensive pressure as a reason when he laid 6 effective tackles.

I'd be expecting Kurt to spend a fair bit more time in the ruck next week up against Sandilands than he did tonight too.

Sellar did a decent job tonight, but IMO he won't be big enough to compete with that BFG in the ruck.

I want to see the club give Seller at least 3 games to prove his worth. If he hasn't shown that he is capable of holding his position after that, then questions must be asked.

Same applies for SMACK but obviously with a little less pressure being his first season on the list.

Walker will probably be left in the SANFL but the temptation will be there to play him considering how he played against Fremantle earlier in the year.

Shirley's name will no doubt be repeated many time in this thread and deservedly so. I don't think he adds enough positives to keep him ahead of someone like Reilly or a rookie.

Also if we are in the swing of resting players for a few weeks in the SANFL might I suggest we do this Douglas. Let me just say I'm a Dougie fan so don't bite my head off but I really feel he might benefit from a few weeks out. But as Drummond mentioned in another thead 7 disposals from a 4th year player isn't really performing. To put this in perspective McKernan had 8 disposals in his debut game with what I would suspect, alot less gametime.

My guess is the safe option will be taken with:

In: Goodwin
Out: Shirley

at risk of entering a conversation about symes, with someone called Symesy15 - why not?

someone has to come out, and he was anonymous.

some cheap touches, bit slow, and he stood Riewoldt in the last when he started to become influential.
cheap touches. Sounds like Rutten, Bock, Johncock and Otten to me. Dont pick on Symes, he may not of been great today, but he deserves to keep his spot

slow. So why not cut Sellar? or Rutten?

and it isnt his fault for standing Riewoldt. Firstly Riewoldt was playing spare man in defence in that stage, and Van Berlo was covering him when he snuck up forward. And Symes only went up to him after he got his goal.

And anyway, even if he was standing on riewoldt. Why didnt Bock or Rutten use their brains and figure out Riewoldt has the height advantage, and change the matchup.

Fair enough....

IMO - I don't think he fits for the Fremantle game.

He was servicable enough tonight - much better than I thought he'd be, but hardly guaranteed his spot.

For me, Kurt unfortunately needs to do a fair portion of the backup ruckwork against Sandilands next week. Which is robbing Peter to pay Paul I guess - but Sellar relieving Maric up against Sandilands would be an utter disaster IMO.

Probably tough on Jim to drop him after one week, but I see McKernan as a much more versatile and valuable option - at least for this week.

Sellar has come in and at least shown some signs, so that was encouraging - but I can't see him being successful anywhere other than the ruck at AFL level.

I'd drop Sellar and bring back Walker for this game. Leaves us with a pretty inexperienced forward line, I know - but Kurt will still rotate through there at times, as will other experienced smaller targets.

I think we all underrated Morans importance - as the stability of the team will have to be toyed with from week to week now.

Assuming Goodwin's fit, someone will need to come out for him next week because our TEAM's greater good will be served by having our Captain play his 250th in a winning game in front of the 19th Man.

So:
IN: Goodwin
OUT: An unlucky player from this win. Whoever it is will be part of our surge into eminence over the next years as consolation.

No change to the talls. Both Jimmy & Smack did enough to warrant another week & also can both play forward if Tippett is needed in the ruck to combat Sandilands. A few weeks with Norwood won't harm Walker & will get him right for finals - needs to earn his way back after 2/3 poorer games.

As for the out for Goodwin, I would say either Shirley or Symes. Wouldn't mind dropping both & bringing in Reilly or Armstrong, but unlikely to be more than 1 forced change.

What?????
You would drop Sellar who did pretty well for his first game in ages tonight, hardly missed a beat in ruck, broke even or won the ruck and was good around ground, intensity was there, not huge stats but give the guy time.
You want to leave McKernan, who must be said looked more out of place than Sellar and is to be expected, and move Tippett out of forward to help out Maric. I would rather leave Sellar as backup, have Tippett in forward and if he struggles swap Sellar for Tippett. McKernan is still far too raw for Sandi in body where as Sellar has at least a couple of preseasons under the belt.

McKernan and Sellar were reasonably similar in their level of performance - and the bolded is highly dubious to say the least.

Tippett will have to do a fair portion of ruckwork, that's quite obvious. I just like McKernan more in terms of his versatility and intensity in a forward line role.

IMO Shaun can play nearly anywhere on the ground. Jim, I'm not so sure he can contribute effectively, unless it's in the ruck - which I'm not sure he's up to - when competing against a monster like Sandilands, at this stage of his development.
