What you are describing is literally panic

We're not bringing Tex back based on his own recovery and fitness levels. Other factors have forced our hand and rushed us into urgently filling the leadership vacuum.
Maybe its your figurative idea of panic, but clearly it isn't the literal version of panic.

There is nothing irrational or hysterical about what they are doing, it makes sense if he is able to, Walker plays.

I have no doubt it isn't ideal, but im pretty sure that most other clubs and players in the same position would do the same thing.

Laird is a massive loss in an already struggling defence. His quick decision making will be sorely missed. I would want to see Gibbs play back there more in his absence. Perhaps that would lead to a Wilson debut to provide further support to the middle.

We could then afford to drop Mackay for Gooch with Milera to slide up to the wing/back flank where he almost obtained BOG once, a feat Mackay has never come close to achieving. With a slow forward line Gooch will provide some handy pace.

He was able to play before. Poorly and obviously under duress.

We embarked on a plan to fix it. Within a few weeks we've torn up that plan and scrawled a new one on the back of a napkin.

We've moved into desperate arse-saving mode.

New long term plan every few weeks.

O'brien wont play. Otten or kelly play, if otten plays then he plays doedees role and doedee plays kellys role. Poholke and gooch wont play either.

Im guessing the bench is greenwood, otten, wilson and gibson

Rowe said it was true on 5aa. If you don't believe that, that's your choice. I certainly think something is wrong with the culture atm, the rumours about arguments before the Melbourne game and the performance we put in. The leaks about pre season camp. That happened. Someone leaked that info to the press. It shouldn't happen at well ran clubs where everything is going well.

Micky, say it ain't true........."Rowe said it was true on 5aa. If you don't believe that, that's your choice." :)

Gibson has the go, he is beyond shit.

Yep, if Gooch is rested, he needs to come back for Gibson. With the break Gibson had, he needed a month in the magoos to get confidence and up to speed. Instead we put him in the deep end with no match fitness or confidence and we have ended up with what we have.

Already have Mackay treading water, holding out...well anyone really, that fat water boy who did his hammie would be neck and neck with him, no need to start adding to the collection. We are playing guys in the side we won't give anything but a bare bones contract to next year, just doesn't make sense when we could be trying get some continuity into other players.

This is exactly what got us into trouble in the first place

A few important players out so we play sore or underdone players.
We aren't playing Laird, who said he was right to go.

Walker would be as near ready as one could be, so it isn't a big stretch for him to be selected. If Sloane was selected then yeah definetly, but he himself said he should be ready to go next week.

They said he would need a few weeks, he's now had them.

It's not panic at all.

So we have lost 3 of the last 4 and no omissions for poor performers. Talk about backing your players in

Oh that's right, we dropped a couple of kids last week.
I called out to Pyke as he trudged off on Sunday night. SO WHICH YOUNG PLAYER GETS DROPPED THIS WEEK?
I know the cupboard is nearly bear, but fork! keeping underperforming senior players in just sends...don't worry if you stink it up, you'll get a game next week.

That sounds like a good plan. Zero chance of it happening. Mackay will never be dropped...ever...he will get another 4 year deal.

I don't see what the fuss about Walker playing is about:

This.

How do you know that Walker is sore or underdone? Not guessing, not speculating, but know? o_O

It m-i-g-h-t be very simple, that he's trained well, come up better than was speculated :rainbow: and is now going to play.
I'm much more annoyed that Mackay has been named, on-field , but that might have to do with his Bulldogs game where he played ok in the wet. Showers predicted for Sunday over there.
Geez, who knows?

Ironically a broken hand is the type of injury you can play with and not make worse. Broken is broken. All the soft tissue and plantar fascia types on the other hand...

Yeah it could be a coincidence that we get more injuries including to our remaining leaders, lose a couple of games making this an absolute must win game and suddenly Walker is magically cherry ripe and ready to go before schedule

Or it could be another Sloane situation. Eg B Crouch and M Crouch are out, we panic and play him while clearly hampered and it stuffs his whole season.

Hampton and Dear - nice to know you, lads. Good luck during the trade period.

Hampton is pegged as a pure inside mid. That he could easily rack up 16 touches, mostly kicks to a contest or opponent's advantage off half back is irrelevant. That's Dmac's spot and even if you show immense performance there, like Milera, he can't be dislodged while we a low average games played figure. Dmac must play and half back is his least worst position.

For the first time in several years, a Crows match is coming up and I actually don't give a damn what happens.

I'll be honest, I'm getting enjoyment when the cameras go to a much more animated Pyke. He's clearly feeling the pressure that comes with poor results but he's got no answers because of his belief that continuity wins football matches. On one hand we've got the old saying about the definition of insanity and on the other we've got AFL coach Don Pyke arguing that it's best practice. Seeing as our year is shot, I'm hoping that more and more pressure mounts and some core beliefs are broken or at least questioned.
