And Top teams eventually stumble and slide and others take their place for their time in the sun for a while.

Question is will we be the the side that sees that old master starting to bleed and looking a bit vulnerable and go for the kill or will we sit on the sidelines and wait while someone else takes the opportunity.

You should have more faith in the side that you support. Sure, we may not rise to the challenge, but we have the tools to get the job done. I think we can and should do it, will be disappointed if we do not make the most of this opportunity.

Going to be wet-ish conditions and have Cunnington, Ziebell, Swallow and Greenhead in the guts and they have... Selwood.
I'm with you on that Tas. Perfect chance to make a statement tonight in front of the football world. Feeling positive about tonight.

Also, I thought Wright's game last week was equal to if not better than anything Mullet has shown this year. More so if he kicked straight.

I think it just hurts us when we have all these not even 80% fit guys in the side when the 100% fit guys struggle you know you are not going to get the 80% fit guys take charge, they are struggling at the best of times. Must play fully fit players.

The problem with that is by seasons end you would have six blokes on the field. There is rarely a player who takes the field who is 100%. Spitter, Fishy, Black, Patch, Goldy, Wells, Hansen, Ziebs and Narni have all played at below 100% this year and they are the ones we know off. Take them out and we would be below Richmond on the ladder. No one is 100%, but I agree, blokes who can't train, shouldn't play.

I am as nervous as heck already! Go Roos! I am tipping the Cats tho. 1 off the lead in my tipping comp

Don't worry about tipping them - the money has kept coming for the Roos - it is nearly time to back the Cats. They are out to $1.55. Take them and the Suns and Pies for $2.60.

Happy to lose my money....

Just Selwood?

Think you are selling the Cats a little short in the middle there Tas.

I'm talking about inside players. Caddy is out, Bartel hasn't played a lot of midfield for a long time now, Johsnon is out. Who is going to win the hard ball in the guts? Varcoe, Stokes?

Their top 5 available contested possession and clearances players are:
Selwood 13.9/7.7
Bartel 9.2/1.6
Duncan 8.5/1.6
Horlin 8.4/3.0
Stokes 8.2/2.7

Cunnington 13.1/7.0
Dal Santo 12.1/4.9
Greenwood 9.6/4.0
*Swallow 9.0/5.0
Ziebell 9.0/4.2

Swallow only had the one game back and three quarters of footy, he is easily equivalent to Cunnington if not better, question just remains if he is capable of giving 100% tonight or not.

Johsnon is a massive out for them, he was on 11.4/4.7, Caddy who is built like a brick shithouse was good at the contested ball before getting hurt. If we do not dominate the inside ball I will be extremely disappointed.

Mullet's value is he kicks straight from limited opportunity, but defensively he hasn't been that great. I think defensively Wright is superior.

They have really struggled to win contested ball - it has been highlighted all week. It will be a massive focus this week for them but we should still win this stat.

They are interesting figures and support where you are coming from Tas no doubt. I would expect the numbers of those Cats players to increase with SJ out, but regardless the clearance numbers are low compared to ours, with contested ball closer.

I would expect Kelly to go to the middle for SJ, no idea of his numbers until now though. Either way you are right, it appears we have them covered in this area. I haven't seen the Cats much this year but I suspect they still set up to almost lose the clearance and damage the other way. If so we need to use the ball better than we have been as turnovers and poor decisions can really hurt us.

Kelly is averaging 22.7 disposals, 6.6 contested possessions, 1.2 clearances, 4 tackles.

McKenzie whom we dropped was going at 4.9 CP and 2.3 clearances
Bastinac is on 6.0 CP and 2.5 clearances, 3.6 tackles
Gibson is on 27.4 disposals, 5.7 CP, 1.6 clearances, 3.6 tackles
Harvey is on 25 disposals, 5.5 CP, 1.6 clearances, 3.5 tackles
Adams is up to 19 disposals, 6.6 CP, 2 clearances, 3.9 tackles

We have a boat load of those midfielders who get plenty of the ball but are also getting some of the hard ball. They will naturally shuffle players to cope with the outs but they have to be mindful that our outside players still do a bit of the heavy lifting. The matchups become critical.

Obviously, if we do not come out to play they are going to take us to the cleaners, so seeing if out tackling and pressure is good early in the game will determine if we have a chance or not.

Yeah I agree. A lot of optimism in this thread but we are playing a team that has won 42 of the last 44 at the Cattery. No Johnson and coming back from WA gives us a chance but it is only a small one.

Faith and blindness are two different things.

We have not made a strong statement this year. Sure we've achieved some great on the road wins, only to follow it up with no shows.

I wouldn't be a 30 year member if I didn't have faith in my team. But I know what my team is. Inconsistent.

Don't let faith blind you on this. It just hurts more.

Go Roos.

Swans and Freo on the road not a strong statement?

I'd rather have optimism and be disappointed rather than be pessimistic and be surprised. I am a realist, it is why I give my honest opinion on players who I don't think have performed well, but every time they are picked and put the jumper on I have optimism and hope they do well, just disappointed when they do not.

I think I would rather throw myself down a flight of stairs than be negative about future prospects and possibilities.

Depends on who you ask, as we know now.
