Not sure where to put this, but hoping Mrouch is fit for this week's game.

This has probably appeared elsewhere, but anybody notice his similarity in appearance (not attitude/behaviour) to that spoiled brat sook Tomic?

That’s interesting.

According to Grotto, Tex’s game v Brisbane doesn’t count because:

1. Brisbane weren’t very good last year; and
2. Brisbane don’t have any decent defenders.

Grotto logic lol.

If I recall Tex had Darcy Gardiner defending him, Brisbane sent Harris Andrews to EH. So while Brisbane do have one very good defender...he didn’t go to Tex.

With the strength of our team and Melbourne hit by injury especially down back and the fact they have won just 3games and an average losing margin of 6 goals in the year and one of those wins against the Suns with almost the last kick of the game, we really should be tearing this team apart.

There is no home ground advantage either for them. We have won at this ground comfortably before albeit back in 2017.

By memory it works on a two season running average with some weighting to now, to try and reward consistency.
No in this case it is the 2019 season leaders. It’s shared on the player ratings twitter account.

Liam Jones right up there, so not sure it’s 100 percent gospel, still probably least bad one measure fits all available IMO.

It also shows how poor Laird has been by his standards.

Making up shit are you? lol. You found it on twitter so it must be real.

For additional context, here is the list of best key defenders in the AFL this year.

Note the position of EH’s last two opponents - Andrews and McGovern

My Question ... who Tf was supposed to be standing schofield and hurn
I don't know. It wasn't MY plan; don't shoot the messenger.
As Eddie explained it (paraphrasing, did you read it?):
One of our forwards went to support our mids (I'm guessing to enable clearances and I50s), leaving us 5-6 forward. Schofield was on Tex. Tex tried to cover Hurn (spare man in defence), making Tex 1-on-2.

I didn't say it was a great tactic, in fact it strikes me as robbing-Peter-to-pay-Paul. We get an extra mid, but we're outnumbered forward. McGovern had EH covered; Tex was nullified.
Being outnumbered 5-to-6 forward, it didn't work and we lost, plus Tex appeared to be ineffective, but I'll bet Pyke was happy that Tex stuck to the plan and did his part (B & F votes later might back that).
Eddie and his mates were.

No surprise that Eddie defended Tex on 5AA, here:
https://www.fiveaa.com.au/shows/david-and-will/Eddie-Betts-Talks-About-The-Calls-To-Drop-Tex-Walker
What was especially interesting is that they had a plan (Coach-driven, probably) which meant Tex sacrificing his own game to try to minimise the effects of Schofield and Hurn. Ambitious, but at least they had a plan ie for a forward to work with the mids to get I50 entries, of which we had 60, from memory.
Eddie:
"“What Tex did, he rounded up Hurn the whole game and Jeremy McGovern. If you go back and watch the game, if you watch behind the goals footage and you watch Tex’s leadership and the way he sets up our forward line it’s second to none.
“It was all of our job but he was the one who set everything up and directing everybody. When Hurn was free Tex would just go to him. He had Schofield on him just giving him crap all game and he went to Hurn just to sacrifice his game so they don’t mark the ball.
“That’s the part people [don’t see].""

One thing I noticed during the game was Eddie being very vocal setting up the forward structures and Tex quiet. Usually Tex does a lot of this. I thought it was weird.

Hearing Eddie's comments and thinking back to that, it fits. Tex was in task and Eddie running the show.

Grotto expresses the simplest thought which comes to mind, I put him on ignore a while ago. Doubt I have missed anything of value.

If I recall Tex had Darcy Gardiner defending him, Brisbane sent Harris Andrews to EH. So while Brisbane do have one very good defender...he didn’t go to Tex.

I dont see any Gardiner in this list.

In any case, regardless for the record, Brisbane have this year leaked a lot of goals defensively this year. They are ranked 5th worst. Only Roos, Blues, Dees and Swans have leaked more.

The only talking I want to hear and/or see from ANY of these boys is by their footy on the damn field. This team has a penchant for a lot of talking and little producing over the last season and a half. I for one am sick of hearing from ANY of them. Show up, shut up and put W's up.
THIS, absolutely. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
In exactly your spirit, all players:
Don't whinge via the media, in fact, don't whinge at all --- lift your game and execute!

Talia below Dougall ****ing Howard on that list. He's fallen a long way since his AA years.

We need to be looking for a replacement in the trade/draft period this year, as he only has 1-2 years left tops.

Exactly, Kelly is having a very decent season, much better than seviceable but that won't stop Jake being maligned on this board by the usual suspects.

Interesting to know why he thinks Jenkins more likely than Gibbs.

Just game time? Or training work load?

Probably because there is an obvious person to drop out for Jenkins. Gibbs probably needs Matt to miss another week if he's any chance.

Talia has visibly dropped his quality this year.

But that list could also be a byproduct of how Talia, Hartigan and Keath work as a team.

Our overall points against is 3rd on 713. Behind Geelong and Freo.

I personally think our backline works as one of the best in the league

West Coast using Oscar Allen to push wide and take Keath out of the play was absolutely brilliant strategy by them.

Surprised Alex Keath's name doesn't appear anywhere.

Not surprised Dan Talia's name doesn't appear anywhere.
Champion Data works on the last 40 games, Keith has not played enough games to get on the list of top defenders. he only played 22 games,
It one of the reasons you can leave yourself open when using champion data to support a discussion.
