Possibly. Was thinking more Tigers or Pies (if they don't get Reid). Although surely we are not clever enough to fleece Pies in two consecutive trade periods.

We didn't fleece Collingwood, they fleeced themselves. Mayne was a free agent, Collingwood offered him decent coin, we just rode off the back of the compo formula to get a 2nd rounder because they paid him a heap over 4 years. And Collingwood didn't even give up the 2nd rounder.

It's not like we traded Mayne out.

Geez guys, this isn't the Taberner thread!!!

Sounds like Tabs needs a really good agent that will continually talk him up, pick and choose the stats that make him sound better than he is, give countless reasons *cough*excuses*cough* why he hasn't performed to his potential at Freo, advocate for how critically important contested marks are and that Tabs is as good as anyone at those. Now if only he could find someone like that.... hmmmm...?!?

No-one that's actually seen him play is going to buy that bullshit.

Let's just hope Nyhuis turns out more like the 150th player than the 100th or the 50th player did (Browne and Toia respectively)

If anything we fleeced Hawthorn. Hill was always worth more than pick 23, but he basically walked out on the club so they took what they could get.

Taberner is done at AFL level. Not sure Kersten is in our long term plans (or playing this week) but Tabs has had enough chances and failed. He drops his head too easily and when he is having a bad game, it saps the energy from the team.

Will be interesting watching this week with a Cox/Fyfe forward line. Richmond have been doing well playing 4-5 small forwards so will be interesting to see how it works out. Feel Logue might play forward also.

Excited to see Nyhuis debut.

It was round five 2010 for those playing at home

Not sure if we should get too excited about the omen, our 100th was Andrew Browne ...

Actually could have been a pretty good player, unfortunately was always a LTI waiting to happen.

Nah, I don't buy it.

There are only three possible reasons for including Kersten in the 25:

1. He's going to play.
2. He's there as cover for someone who's under an injury cloud. Fyfe or do we have a limp Cox?
3. RTB is a Machiavellian mastermind who's screwing with everyone's heads.

We'll find out later today. I'm not sure if I fear 1 or 2 more than the other. 3 is a given.

Taberner is in serious danger of getting delisted. If we prefer a bloke that's none next to nothing for the year, especially **** all for the last 5 weeks and borderline useless in the WAFL over Taberner then the selection committee clearly think Taberner doesn't have a lot of future at the club.
So Apeness is injury prone, Kersten isn't more then VFL standard (showed that at Geelong), McCarthy spent one year out of the game.. not confident whatsoever that forward line will be fixed.

Seriously, our KPF stocks is going to hold us back this rebuild. Apart from Cox, the list is embarrassingly bare. We're not going to get a big name star- i.e. Hogan. Forget about that. Going to have to draft a gun Forward- much like Brisbane has with Hipgood- and play him from first season on.

At least play a fit Tabs, but Ross has cleared stuffed him in the head and he won't be coming in now.
Really feel for Taberner actually. If he had any confidence, now it's shot. He ll kick a bag of 3+ while watch Kersten do the same crap on Sunday.

4. We're worried we might win against a team competing for the same picks.

Or does that come under 3?

Gee everyone is a bit on edge. Its been a great year for blooding guys and rotating through the team to see who cuts the mustard and who doesn't. The match comittee overall, have had a very good year for a rebuilding side. People forget rebuilding is not just playing kids, but giving the guys on the borderline (Suban Sheridan etc) a last look in to prove their value before the cull at seasons end.

And I can't believe I'm seeing people melt so much because Taberner is NOT in the team, after his last senior game there was even a contingent saying he should never play for us again lol.

While this is true, I think many perhaps thought it was Ross' game plan that was causing Mayne to miss set shots from 30 out directly in front. Indirect fleece perhaps?

Lets all just be happy that someone at Collingwood has NFI or only has Mayne tapes from 2013. Wonder if that guy likes the look of Tabs or Subes?...

To all those debating Tabs and Kersten. They have still both only played around 50 games each. No way we can tell if they are done. Sure the coaches might have made up their mind but what did everyone think of Hawkins at 50 games?

Remember Geelong delisted Hamling, so it is not like they get this 100% right.

lol it's always the fault of someone else that he's no good.

Going by this which is usually accurate, the outs will be Tucker, Grey and Logue.

Maybe it will happen this week, but it is not the usual case.

Using links from Freo Fan Mail emails, in the past 4 Sunday games, at least one (and in some cases all 3) of the bottom 3 listed played. You have to go back to the Richmond game for the last time the last 3 were the ones who missed out.

Taberner played 17 games last season including a run of 15 games in a row, it's not like he has never been given a decent chance in the side. Picking someone that has been as ordinary as Kersten obviously means rightly or wrongly that Ross does not rate Taberner whatsoever.

Look from the outer there is no doubt that I would have picked him over Kersten but as many lame excuses as you want to make for Taberner he has been given a decent run in the side before. Ross as someone that works and trains with him for many hours every week for years obviously does not rate him, maybe I'm mad but I think I'll back his judgement here.
Yep he's (Taberner) obviously not doing something (reaching kpi's or whatever) and considering his footballing iq isnt the highest id say he's still not 'getting' it.
Not a fan of kersten but we got sfa else so back in he comes I guess.
Do laugh at the melts tho...over a ridiculously average player...face it , this keeps up (tabs form) and non selection hes goooorne at the end of the year.....all im hoping for is we can fluff someone out of a 3rd rounder lol

You can argue all you like over Taberner - at least we can all recognise the pros and cons of Tabs - but seriously, Sheridan stays in ??

I'm about done with this selection commitee if that ******* crab plays again.

Selection integrity my ass..
Don't play us for fools FFC
Yep sherry is the one ill melt over .....can't stand him as footballer (probably as a person too)

Lol the only person whos stuffed Taberner s head is matt taberner.
I cant believe people on here still act like he hasnt been given a 'chance'

I'm surprised at the melts in here. Clearly we're getting games into as many kids as possible and going for the best draft pick. The players that won't be on our list next season aren't getting games. We will look God awful short though.
