That's it! - I had enough, the next goof-off that suggests that Watson should be promoted should be permanently banned fron playing on this board.

He played for the frigging Port 2nds for Christ-sake.

Make a sensible, useful comment or stop wasting my email time!

He WILL NOT be selected next week!
Didn't the Port 1sts have a bye?

Sav, Colby, BigMac, and Archer need to retire this year and we need to see if these kids can play!! No point limpimg into the finals and the guys retiring at seasons end... we will lose a year to see if the kids can play!!

Not happy with Archie's efforts so far?

And the point is?

If that's a valid case then why didn't Harris, Pratt, Perry, Baird, LeCras etc, etc play two's with Port.

Watson will not play Seniors next week end of story!

Stop talking about it and get on with what might really happen!

Perhaps you could help by giving us a short list of players/ topics we can discuss?

Oh and was thinking of calling my next child Mathew if we get a boy, is that ok with you?

I really think that it's a good name, but I prefer it with two "t's".

Back to life as we know it - I don't see the point in talking about players who will not be playing next week - that is Ash Watson, for one example.

Try discussing the merit of promoting Motlop (doubtful), Harris (possible), Pratt (possible), Perry (possible), Le Cras (possible), Baird (possible), but Watson (very unlikely).

It's a waste of time unless Deano's reading this every night, and if he's taking notice I would hope that he forget's about Watson at this time.

Agree with all except Arch. Leave him another year to show another couple of kids what playing for the jumper is all about.

put: colbert, perkins, petrie/rocca
in: harris, motlop perry

Have hale to start the centre square. changing with thomo.
Start rocca, harding, motlop, thomo, jones all in the goal square. Leaving chf empty.
I wouldnt mind seeing sinclair or makepeace moved to the wing or even in the middle. Perry and smith can take there positions in the back half.

start them in the goalsquare ? Do you reckon Wallace is that stupid>>> he'll play two running players from the back of the square creating the loose man. If we don't get the clearance and of course the LONG clearing kick that plays to our adv then the whole exercise is DOOMED. If the short passing game continues we are bound to LOSE. Richo will have field day getting the fast bombs coming thick and fast when North keep fluffing it up with insipid undecisive footy. It's the GAMEPLAN Scooby, the gameplan. Play the standard Six set up, run in two's & three's and dispose the ball quick and go direct. I saw much of the Dees/Tiges game last week and the Tiges will roll us with ease with the soft option footy JYD chooses to play.

Simpson's handballs are worse.
I don't want to upset the 'Michael Firrito Crew' but he was equally as shocking by hand yesterday, couldn't hit water of the side of a boat today.

His foot skills were ok though. But Dame Edna Everage's foot skills would have looked pretty handy in a game where Adam Simpson and Brady Rawlings had so much of it.

i was at the game yesterday simmo is injured wouldnt be suprised at all if he doesnt play this weekend.

Out: rocca, simpson, perkins
In: Motlop, Harris, McKernan (dont be suprised by the last one)

Out: Colbert, Rocca
In: Harris, Motlop

Colbert is probably our 2nd most courageous player behing Arch but he isn't quick enough and when he does get the ball is always looking to go sideways or backwards. Rocca can only play FF and I'd love to see him back in form but ATM he needs a spell at Port to get a bit of confidence back.

Take Rocca out, he is a blight on thompsons game, bring in shore or c.jones, just a forward who can run a bit

confidence ??? how about PROPER SUPPLY ??? Even JYD admitted that the fwd's didn't get the supply. JYD continual obsession to play keepings off was the KILLER >>> why is Thommo moving up the field to take marks on the flippin' wing ?? IT WAS DISGRACEFUL. The gameplan is a LOSERS mentality. No Guts, No Glory. That's what peeeves me off. JYD didn't coach to win yestrday, he has NO confidence in his own fwd structure and last week it was a different mentality altogether. go figure. North moved the ball quick and we had the BEST opening quarter in a very Long time !! No longer Happy Days >> Sit On It !

Simmo isn't the Simmo of a few years ago. JYD has corrupted his game. He won't be missed next week. Too ULTRA defensive. Hope he doesn't play and can see how terrible the defensive gameplan JYD employs is NOT taking us anywhere. I doubt we can win another 4 times.

McK, the great CORZA >>> the cameo role >> what can he possibility do to change the whole outcome or even better, get the a kick and make himself accountable with the current gameplan ?? Pfffft !

Without Sav , same old gameplan, we're STUFFED. Motlop, as good as everybody knows he is, you know Wallace isn't an idiot >>> he'll have everyone crowding his space and one poor pass too many and the Tiges will pounce and move the ball without trouble.

On the flipside, JYD goes with the Brisbane game approach and keeps the likes of TWO TALLS up forward and actuallly USE them !! we'll be a much better chance. Can't understand why he has to corrupt our set up with shoddy defensive footy, week in, week out.

RANT OVER.

Can anybody tell me what's wrong with Hamish? Laidley's been pumping his tyres up all year, finally gives him a game (interstate, conditions not great), dumps him. Regardless of whether Sav is gone or not, Richmond is the perfect
opportunity for us to play 'Mish.

Richmond isn't that tall down back. Don't pinpoint passes (our skills are ********), just dump it in long with Thommo, Sav and Mish or just Thommo and Mish (Jones, harvey, grant, wells for any crumbs that fall).

If Sav is gone next year, we can't expect to throw Mish to the wolves, he needs game time and 11 games this year, would mean a lot next year.

The kid could learn a bit in 11 games and everyone could learn a bit about him.

If he is as good as the Bible reckons (and lets face it, if he can't break into our forward line at the moment, just how good is he?), then play him.

U bet it does. As I pointed out in another thread, the Lions without thier RUN (Power & Lappin) were always going to allow us to move the ball more freely (the chance of turnover wasn't going to land in the reeling hands of these runners who know how to use the ball well). The Dees have free wheeling runners that we can't control unless we played pinpoint and accountable footy. The Tiges will fall in a hole only if JYD extracts a few 'new ideas' and attacks the game from the start >> like we did against Bris. The first qtr set up the win really. We can't afford to start slow and play catch up vs a team that can move the ball directly against a sluggish defence like ours. Either it will be a 4-5 goal win @ best or we will get rolled by 4-8 goals with an slow start and ultra defensive mindset. The start determines the game. Any thought of an armwrestle is risky also.

He played Monster in the worst possible game he could think of, in the wet and interstate for his first game with a hostile crowd. He only played him reluctantly because the lovechild was out injured.

I think the worst thing that happened for us was Grant blitzing early in the season, like he did last year and the year before... JYD thinks the team is premiership material and is happy to play the short people up forward. Grant is not going to kick 5 goals a game every week and not going to kick 4 in the last quarter every week to spark a comeback.

Apart from a few games a year against shocking opposition our structure does not kick enough goals a game. It is why we crawl over the line when we do win, even against inferior opposition. We are about 4-5 goals per game off where we should be. We are getting a reasonable return from the smalls but they can only produce so many goals a game, we really need to have those talls that can convert some of those inside 50s into goals.

Grant, Harvey, Jones, etc all are extremely dodgey anywhere around the 50m line, and will only get 1 in 3 if we are lucky. So inside 50s are not good enough for us, we really need to get the 30 or more quality inside 30s and that is much, much harder to do when you are trying to hit small players.

I wasn't overly impressed with Melbourne. If we could hit eachother with a pass then we could have easily won this game. We were handicapped by shocking skills and poor coaching. Laidley refused to change the structure to better suit the way we were playing.

We had 5 smalls in the forward line yet Melbourne murdered us with the defensive clearances, did it with ease. If we are getting slaughtered on the ground we might aswell go with 3 or 4 talls up forward and at least try and punish them in the air. Laidley just gave up in that game. I was disappointed.

You never dissappoint Tas. Tell it like it is. If you were dissappointed, I WAS SEETHING ! This WEEK IMHO is JYD's MAKE or BREAK game as an AFL coach Remember how I pointed out last season's encounter >>> well, all I expect is 4 p'ship points this week. No excuses. Win by 1 or 100 points >>> gimme the WIN and I'll SHUT UP !

I have been really pleased with Arch this year and never want him to leave... i just don't want him to get to the stage where he is just playing cos he can, needs to go out with dignity... with the way he is playing he should play for 2 more years and smash the games record!! By the way i love the way arch goes about his business, and agree with the person who posted that the rest of the team should be embarrassed to be in the same room as him, cos he seems to be the only player PROUD to put on the jumper!!

Some of the efforts of Arch almost turned the match around.

While we were killed in the 2nd and 3rd quarters our opening and final quarters were pretty good but we let the dees off the hook (particularly in the first) with some poor kicking.

What was really disappointing though was Corey Jones' lazy kick when the momentum was swinging North's way. He has a habit of kicking some real pearlers and then missing some easy gets (Sav made an even bigger hash of one shot though).

Thought Wells looked like he was getting alot of the ball but his decision making was poor (3 goals were a direct result of his turnovers). He's not the answer at kickouts. Makepeace's decision making was also well off on Sunday - a couple of really poor decisions resulted in goals.

I know he's the whipping boy of this board but I thought Petrie contested well for most of the game and rucked decently.

Sav is too one dimensional - looked painfully slow and had a real impact on our forward options.

Harding was alright but doesn't have much confidence in his ability to kick goals at the moment.

And where is the big, bad, mean Leroy Brown?

IN-Motlop, Perry, Watson, Harris

Out-M Stevens, Colbert, Firrito, Sav Rocca,

Motlop>Sav Rocca

Colbert>Perry, but we gotta give the kid a run, he looks the good, big, strong, good skills!

Harris>Firitto, Harro, 100 minutes onball, show us what you have!

Watson to replace M Stevens who does stupid stupid things with the ball, can't play down back, give Ash a run on the ball to give us some toe and skills around the pack
