Surely they take great belief out of last year. Squad is different but plenty who played can draw on it. Some big ins to come back in this week helps.Time we took a big scalp this week. Let's get em doggies.

You do know we get a few players back over the next couple weeks, and along with a draw that opens up a touch, can't see us falling away too much quality wise. It's just because of the dream run of some other teams. Soft runs leading into finals can be dangerous though imoI think we will get done and be 8th by the end of the weekend
Bad feeing we will fall away a little second half of war but surprisingly think we can do sown damage in finals when/if everyone is back.
Simply carrying too many blokes that arnt up to it this weekend id be very surprised if we don't get a little snack again this week.

True. But there are only 9 more games before another week off, then head into finals. Think we'll be ok.Yeah I do but will take a while for them to get back into it after the time out.
Time will tell I hope in wrong but the Geelong game showed me personally how much the kids are struggling with full seasons but will only improve year after year
Week between rd 23 and finals will be worse, only the one womens game that whole weekend, least there was 6 games to watch this weekend...
I wrote to the league complaining about this (see below offering) a superior option. Not surprising did not get a reply.
Bye First Week September
I cannot believe the lack of discussion regarding no footy on first week in September. If I said to you 10 years ago that there would no footy in the first week in September you would be calling the men in the white coats to lock me away.
League Statement
"The AFL has introduced an extra bye at the end of the minor round to allow the top eight clubs to prepare for the 2016 finals.
Concerns over the integrity of the last round led to the change, which the AFL hopes will ensure that finals-bound clubs no longer select half-strength teams to close out the home and away season".
Whilst I acknowledge the reason for this strategy there is a much better way to achieve this than to destroy a footy tradition for fans and it will also make finals more equitable all 8 teams.
The solution is simple:
First Week
5th v 8th
6th v 7th
Ist to 4st have week off
Second Week
1st v 4th
2nd V 3rd
Winners of week 1 have week off.
Advantages
This is no brainer.
- There is footy in September and five weeks of finals will create additional revenue.
- All games can be played in prime time on Friday and Saturday nights .
- The 2 winning teams from 5th to 8th get a week off if they win the first week, giving them a more equitable chance for a flag without diluting the advantages of the double chance.
- The incentive not to rest players for will still apply. Teams 1st to 4th will still get the first week off. Winning teams that finished 5th to 8th will get the second week of the finals off and coaches will not want to risk players playing once in 3 weeks by resting players.
Does this reduce the incentive for teams 5th-8th to rest players? The idea of resting is not so much for a break but to be prime for the finals. If a team 5th-8th has nothing to lose in rd23 then they'll still rest ahead of the first week of finals. It does cut the chances of this happening in half though.I wrote to the league complaining about this (see below offering) a superior option. Not surprising did not get a reply.

No the reason the break eS introduced wS to avoid teams guaranteed finals from tanking. Your suggestion still has the same flaw as the old system.
This is the Swans preview thread, why the fcuk are we discussing the finals fixture? Take it somewhere else.
Mods please delete this crap.

Dogs information he is normally spot on though given his obvious connection with the club.Sam Landsberger is shit. Every since he got the Essendon call wrong, I lost all faith in him
It's interesting as well, because Wood has been out for close to a month too. Month is a long time to be out of a gameDogs information he is normally spot on though given his obvious connection with the club.
Minson may be an in
Toyd won't be playing
Minson won't come in. I suspect it's a Bevo tactic to keep him hungry and make him feel like he's close to playing to keep the pressure on Roughy and Campbell.Ewww, we're not playing three ruckmen are we? Unlike Roughy & Campbell, Minson has hands of stone and isn't a particularily mobile player around the ground.
