Preview Changes vs Swans

I know, its a tough one and I've been just as disgusting with his performances as others, albeit having little to no feeling in his hand vs Geelong.

But he does provide experience and leadership, setting up our forward line and telling them where to go at different stages of the game.

Like I said, it's not like any one else is setting the world on fire at the moment and th supply has been ordinary at best. Coming into a new team playing a different role, maybe he does deserve more than 1 uninjured game to prove his worth.

The way things are going at this rate though, I think I may have a heart attack in excitement when tex is finally back. Boy will he be a sight for sore eyes.
So are they not listening or is he just talking nonsense?

My favourite is that Pods is a fresh 32 year old because he started his AFL career late. Not as battered and bruised, see?

What was he doing prior? Sitting on pillows being fanned with palm leaves by wenches who intermittently stopped to drop grapes in his mouth I assume.
I damn lol'd :D:D

You'd be surprised how much that takes out of you

Clarkson said tonight a simple truism that is all too often forgotten. Scoreboard pressure is the most important kind of pressure in football. Then he said it again just to reiterate. Scoreboard pressure is the most important kind of pressure in football.

Kicking goals does all kinds of funny things to the opposition and has the added benefit that its how you win too.

And what do we do? Drop our 2nd highest goal kicker because he was gasping after running lengths of the oval all afternoon trying to clean up after our mids. Genius.

Defensive pressure is cream on the scoreboard pressure cake. Basing your forward structure on defense and bringing in defensive specialists like pets at the expense of goal kickers is the definition of pissing in the wind.

Great post mate.

I wonder if having a defender/mid as our forward coach is a significant factor in this crazy mindset.

But he does provide experience and leadership, setting up our forward line and telling them where to go at different stages of the game.

Let's say he does all of those things.... How are they working out for us so far?

Maybe we should instruct him to stop doing those things and concentrate on contributing ANYTHING himself.

Walker and Lynch are both injured, and he still can't keep his spot.

Can't keep his spot while players with fewer goals, less touches, less tackles etc can.

What is potentially another moronic, contrived decision at selection doesn't prove that LJ isn't up to it - it proves that our selections continue to be mind boggling - since the 2012 final series.

As great a job kedge did last week on boak, we missed his offensive game, like his game against geelong. He was the one with accurate bullet passes ad running both ways. Sucks we don't have two of him at the moment.

Sh!t there's some dumb posts in this thread.

We have almost no true KPF's. Pods is there structurally to cover until Walker's return, so that we're not setting up a structure for the first eight weeks that we have to change on the fly when our true KPF returns. It's something that the ruck men (McK, JJ) and flankers (Johnston) can't do.

Pods isn't fighting for a position with Johnston. Johnston is fighting with Otten/Lynch when we play a third tall, and a bunch of smaller forwards when we don't.

Geelong decided not to keep Pods and Chappy (and Hunt and others) because their premiership window had closed on having half a dozen 32+ year olds. That doesn't mean younger sides wouldn't add one of them for a year or two.

He stayed because he loves the club, too bad Sanderson doesnt like him because he could really be a good AFl footballer
how do you figure sando doesn't like him. He has well documented deficiencies that the club are working to overcome. Nothing to do with not liking him. This is not the school yard.

Well obviously he isn't playing well himself and the forward line hasn't been functioning all that great, but you still need experience in any side. Pods provides that, but he also needs to lift his game.

I love how people on here just pinpoint one player and repeatedly peg him into the ground. There is a lot more going wrong than some old man playing badly, and I honestly believe it starts with our assistant coaches (Bicks and Campo) and not the players.

Its well known around the club, in October some of the players told him to go to Melbourne because everyone at the club knows Sanderson wasnt going to play him. Coaches play favourites

Except Pods didn't play as the KPF for Geelong, that was Hawkins. Now we are expecting him to be it for us? At the age of 32 when he seems he can no longer contribute? Do we carry a non contributor for 8 weeks because of structure? By that time our season could be shot.

Johnston at North when up forward plays as the KPF, to suggest he can't be our leading forward is nonsense. The resting ruckman can be our go to forward when we need an out for a long bomb, which should be the exception not the norm.

It's amazing the varying rationale for dropping Johnston and keeping Pods. He doesn't tackle, 5 tackles to one suggests otherwise. Pods is there for structure, what's the good of structure if you are not contributing.

And for a team crying out for disposal efficiency, LJ is in the 70s, Pods in the 50s. Pods has averaged 5 clangers a game so far.

Finally what do we do with Pods for the remainder of his contract after Tex is back?

Don't worry we have more than one person to pinpoint and we do. The reason Pods sticks out like a sore thumb is we recruited a 32 year old for 2 years. As for experience, it is over rated, it means nothing if you are playing poorly. All it does is keep someone out of the side who needs the experience for your future.

It's amazing to read our board in comparison to others. The level of unnecessary vitriol and bitterness on here is stunning.

I love Adelaide and will always be my home however one of the reasons I moved away was because I felt that the state was becoming "the glass is half empty" way of life

This was no more evident that the Grand Prix, so many people whinged when we had the Grand Prix and then the same people whinged again when we lost it

Even during 2012 during the Sando spike there were so many on this board posting repeatedly just waiting for the sky to fall opposed to living in the moment and enjoying the ride

Geelong played two key forwards. We currently, other than Pods, have none.

I like LJ but blind Freddy can see that he doesn't have the contested marking, pack crashing, size and power to be a KPF. He's proven that.

Rowe and Dillon slamming the club for not picking Lyons, the excuse is that they dont think he runs hard enough. ****ing bullshit

Well hooefully they maintain the rage.

The AFC has got away with far too much for far to long.

You might want to glance at the Melbourne board.

That's more the kind of team we compare to at this stage.
