Changes vs the hawks

Out:
McGuane: Didn't do a whole lot today, really lucky for him and Moore that Welsh only kicked 5 behinds. However Moore offers more up the ground and thats why he is safe

In:
Bowden: Was our best RFC player for Coburg other then Casserly and Cotchin but they aren't match fit yet

Really dissapointed in blokes like Conners, Jackson and Pettifer for Coburg, because someone should have forced a replacement for Hyde and maybe even Tuck - although i do understand they were doing tagging jobs throughout the day

If thats the case then give Casserly a run .. all this kid has to do is get some luck and a few games under his belt ...

Go with the future ..

This is of course if we make any changes at all

I liked Moore's game last week (even gave him votes), but he did not play well this week. The matchups did not suit him. Might be under pressure to keep his spot, depending on how the Hawks are likely to line up.

Tuck doesn't seem to be in great form either.

Not sure if anyone deserves to be punished though. Just name the best available team.

Out: morton (stays near the goals and dont get many possessions), mcguane (need a run in coburg, looks slow and out of form), maybe Riewoldt can stay (saved by his goals)

Morton and Jack?

You're kidding me right?

They're both kids and them kicking 5 goals altogether is more than adequate to stay in the team and continue to gain experience.

Jack has played in the VFL for 4 years now, he knows all the tricks, it's time for him to now take the next step and get used to AFL.

And who are your in's?

Morton does need to improve a bit though IMO. Although he kicked 2 goals he's hardly the up-grade on Pettifer alot of posters are touting him as being. Doesn't do a whole lot of defensive work and doesn't work up the ground as much as Pettifer does. 0 tackles this week (richo and brown were the only ones with 0 tackles)

morton dont work hard enough and move up field and is lazy, he should be working a bit more like brown instead of parking himself in the forward line.

You're the first person to tell me that.

All else I've heard was he did a decent shutdown job and was pretty good with the ball.

I'm interested to hear your views on that.

Jackson, an AFL listed player, was doing a shutdown job on a VFL listed player? That's the problem right there.

But what I was talking about was how shit his skills were yesterday. I went to the match in Port Melbourne and some of his kicking (but handballs more specifically were missing pretty short targets). He didn't even look VFL level yesterday IMO. Maybe he didn't respond well to being dropped.

Agreed. He is not a speacialist crumber and therefore shouldn't sit in the foward 50 all day. Needs to work harder up the ground more. Kicked 4 goals in two weeks which is good. However, I'm pretty sure Pettifer would have done at least that aswell

And you for being on drugs?

Morton was great, at the bottom of every pack getting the crumbs, he is what we have been calling out for, no need to bring in Pettifer who will go for the cheap shit goal rather than the working hard goal, when has Pettifer gotten a crumbing goal, he is also still 21 years old, he is 100% safe.

Riewoldt, he was great today, lead beautifully, kicked 3 goals and looks very promising, if we are to become a better team then what would dropping a 19yo promising KP do?

Morton's work in and under the packs in front of goal is handy.
He fed the ball out of tight spots that resulted in shots on goal more than once today.

Pettifer at his best might be a better player but I think we will get consistent efforts from Morton and he will get even better with a few games under his belt.

Moore will be safe as he is an option for Buddy.
Bowden must be a chance for McGuane

Jackson would be handy against the hawks midfield if his form in the twos warrants selection. Ive read two versions of his game for Coburg on here.

NExt time you see Pettifer at the bottom of packs going hammer and tongs let me know.

Soft outside player is Petts, until he learns to make an effort outside kicking goals and hitting his fist after a behind while trying to earn his spot back Morton is the man, his endeavour to do the little things is 10x Petts.

Mortons job though at present is to stay at home in the F50 and provide a target but to also be where the ball is and apply pressure. Whether that is applying a tackle or diving in at the bottom of a pack trying to keep the ball it doesn't really matter as long as the pressure is there.

Pettifer on the other hand will wander up the ground looking for a touch and then when we are coming out of the backline there is no-one but the opposition back where he should have been. Also as noted by others Petts is rarely if ever sighted at the bottom of a pack fighting to keep the ball in the area.

Sure Petts might end up with more touches but I would much rather Morton's pressure at the moment with 1-2 goals from 8-10 touches than Petts 15 odd touches with 1-2 goals with little to no pressure.

petts doesnt deserve another run in this team to be honest he may have been good last season but he has been shyte this season, OUT: McGuane IN: Bowden, Cotchin, Connors Casserly extended bench
