Bevo said a few weeks ago that he would want to try and rest the whole list, so he may look at giving Dickson and Dahl a rest?

Roberts to come back with Tom Boyd, does minson get ago ?

I would love to start bonti at CHF 5-7 minutes then let him loose in the midfield.

Cordy for Roberts
Redpath for Boyd
Grant for next best....rat?
Didn't he also say that he'd be looking at settling his best 22? Rat from all reports is injured.

Boyd kicked a bag against the lions last time, probably not the best game to gauge where he's at for finals if he gets a recall. Wish he'd been given a run against the Roos.

Anyone else think hamling was shite tonite?

Keen to see Dickson have a breather.

If Roberts and Boyd have good games, I'd like to add them come in next week.
Yep. Just mentioned it in another thread. i think Roberts comes back in regardless, will be interesting to see if Talia comes back. I'd like to see Z Cordy given a full game, but I'd like next week to have a settled back 6 that we plan to go into finals with.

Can understand resting forwards and mids, but we need continuity down back

Was that before or after being set for finals? Personally I'd want to see as close to our best side next week
Good point, not sure. Think one or two may be rested but we'd also want to keep our momentum going so to speak. Another interesting selection week coming up!

I thought Grant was alright. Bloody hell, the guy got his nose smashed in FOR OUR CLUB a week ago, should get a medal for getting out there!

Made some blues, so what, so did Murph, so did many. Some here make an opinion early and relish laying the boot in at any opportunity!

We can rest a few if we like IMO, we've earned the luxury. Do Bris want to lose top pick? If Carlton finish bottom and get band 1 for Krooz, the Bears then miss out on Scache and Weitering, no way.

Bris will lose this regardless, and even if they win we should still finish 6th.

I'd rest Moz, Dickson, Moyd (again), maybe some others who the MC see fit.

This is a privileged position we've earned, need to use it to our best advantage.

I think we should play our best 22; no resting players unless they're absolutely spent. We need stability, consistency and form going into the finals.

Out: Redpath, Cordy, Roughead (only if injured)
In: Boyd (if he plays well tomorrow), Roberts/Talia (whoever is in better form), Campbell (see above re: Roughead)

P.S. I'm amazed that people on here are suggesting we rest players when we can still make the top 4. That seems crazy to me.

Thinking here in terms of us not resting players and just picking the 22 we want to use for the finals.

Boyd in for Redpath and Grant is somewhat unlucky to lose his spot to Roberts.

My 22 would look like this:

B: Morris - Roberts - Zaine
HB: Boyd - Hamling - Wood
C: Johannisen - Wallis - Murphy
HF: Dahlhaus - Stringer - Hunter
F: Dickson - Boyd - Crameri
R: Roughead - Bont - Macrae
I/C: Biggs - Honeychurch - Picken - Webb

A case could be made for Talia to replace Roberts/Hamling. Webb and Zaine stand out as the two least experienced guys in the team, and Grant is probably the most unlucky guy to miss out in this team. I think this team has a lot of versatility and depth across the three areas of the ground

We won't go that tall in the backline. I think Grant at his best is in the 22. He played poorly today but his best is good enough.

That's not really that tall though, only two key defenders and support from Wood, Zaine and Morris. All three of them can play small and Wood and Zaine offer rebound. I agree, Grant is in the best 22 when he is at his best, but having just brought Webb and Zaine in, I don't think they'll lose their spots for Fletch/Talia. Grant for Zaine in the elimination final is something I'd accept though, provided Zaine gets a full game next week

I'm not expecting to see Beveridge's "best 22" until week one of the finals.
I think he has enough confidence in guys now playing for Footscray to slot them in when required.
Next week is the perfect opportunity to freshen up a few players for the finals.
I expect Zaine Cordy to get a full game. Just loved his confidence in giving a spray to Nahas after a turnover. Aren't you supposed to at least have a kick in the AFL before doing that sort of stuff?
Another minor highlight: Biggs involved in the defensive 50, runs 100 metres to take a handpass and kick a goal.
This was arguably (don't you love that word?) our best win of the year.
Bring on September.

I'd definitely look at resting a few boys. Dahl the main one.

Crameri looked exhausted yesterday and Bob definitely is carrying a niggle. We can afford to rest players this week and give opportunities to others.

Concerned about crammers ankle too. That might give Redpath a reprieve. Boyd comes in to replace Crammers and between Boyd/Redpath its a play off for a finals spot.

Given I have a feeling North will give Richmond a run, any suggestion of resting players would be silly. Especially that we have often struggled with conditions up north and have not put teams away when we should have. Still want to try and get the best outcome for us. I fancy an away game to Freo than a home one vs Tigers or Crows at the G

Too late in the year to be resting anyone. Should be settled on final 22 now to carry chemistry and momentum into finals. Only change I would consider is Grant and Redpath for Boyd and another mid or defender in for Grant. Otherwise happy to go without any changes. If only Stevens was ready. Think he will be iced for the rest of the season sadly

We need to give ourselves the best possible chance to win our first final, if that means resting players against Brisbane, so be it.
Roberts has just limped off for Footscray unfortunately, hope he is ok, he would have been one of the guys I would have looked at to come in.
