Seeing that a free kick for is regarded as a contested posession, and the chihuahua's have scored more than 80 than they have given away, i am not surprised that Kingy interprets the raw data and concludes that they are the toughest team in the league

On one of the Foxtel shows this week they highlighted the Dogs sending extra players to the stoppages.

Which is fine but it has a clear result and is completely the reason that they average less than 100. Their balance is off.

This defensive swamp type play will in time be regarded in the same way that Ross Lyon type defensive play is.

They are also yet to be proven that they can effectively play that style anywhere other than Etihad. Having only beat Melbourne away.

That article is utter garbage. The counter argument that in each of those games listed the losing team scored less and therefore deserved to lose. Pretty radical stuff. How about we get rid of scoring, get some judges and the side deemed to have the "better chances" randomly wins. The judges could hold up cards rating each chance.

Max Laughton - the winner of 2016's most utterly stupid football article. A fair achievement in a strong field. He also takes out the award for most selective use of useless statistics award. That's a huge upset as David King has won that for the past 6 years.

David King accepts this challenge to his throne and promises to respond with new, completely irrelevant pie chart by weeks end.

Careful. Noone wants to see 'Kingy' and 'Robbo' slug it out on air over a slice of lemon 'n meringue.

The Artistic Football League.

Extraordinary that only 32,000 ppl watched friday nights game in Sydney, out of 4 million ppl in that city, surely that is not accurate.
What I found more extraordinary is that the Sydney numbers for GWS are 2/3 of what Sydney got on the same day. Sydney have four times the number of members that GWS do! I guess there are a lot more Sydney supporting people in Melbourne (former South fans) than I had appreciated before

I used to think this was a problem, but political reporting not much better and the content not as interesting in any case.

"Yeah, but more important" I hear you say? If reporting got beyond skin deep and enabled readers to contemplate more than just Tweedledum v Tweedledee.

Just making a point Kimbo. Lot of airtime/newspaper columns to fill at present.

I should have been married to Jennifer Hawkins.

Ok I think this whole support for Hawkins "oh North might win now that he's been unfairly suspended" thing is going a bit far, now you want to make him your betrothed?

Edit: sorry didn't read your post properly

Amazing that the Bulldogs' "free-flowing, exciting-to-watch" brand of play has them ranked 10th for points for, behind Melbourne :$. They can successfully drag teams down to their level, and have won games this year doing so, but somehow this myth remains prevalent in media circles that they're an exciting team to watch that can blow other teams out of the water - patently false.

I get it mate. :thumbsu: Something Tom Harley commented on back when he was captain of Geelong I believe.

It's akin to a foreigner's experience of our news broadcasts and how much time the sports coverage gets. Back then, I felt aggrieved by such matters. I might still be if the media was capable of being a catalyst for deeper thinking about our politicians and the political system which, alas, they aren't (thanks Rupert!)

On a related note, enjoyed the double episode premiere of Secret City.

Yeah, but if it's repeated enough, it becomes fact.

Too many people can't think for themselves and draw their own conclusions.
