I believe the AFL owns all of the trademarks, etc.
The clubs could do what the former English First Division clubs did and resign from the AFL and establish their own business in which the clubs controlled revenue from media rights and sponsorship. Pretty sure the clubs control their own branding and TMs?

I doubt many could care less if the Australian Football League was replaced by the Australian Football Competition or something similar, if the clubs all moved to it and the cost of administration was greatly reduced. And if AFL controlled clubs GWS and the Suns refused, who would care?

You don't hear from outspoken Premier League administrators - the clubs wouldn't allow it - they are there to serve the clubs. The AFL on the other hand is the complete opposite - it distributes far less revenue to clubs than other professional competitions. It spends way too much money on itself, on supposed administration - leeching off the media revenue generated by fans - media revenue that would not exist without the clubs. Clubs in other professional codes do not allow central admistrators to decide how media revenue and sponsorship etc is distributed.

We would be so much worse off if our interests were decided by the CEOs of Collingwood, Richmond and West Coast than the AFL.

The AFL's equalisation strategies are the only thing preventing small clubs from being perennial bottom of the ladder also-rans.

St Kilda looks set to unveil its battery of new recruits against North Melbourne in Round 1 next year.
The AFL has lined up the Saints to take on the Roos in an evenly-matched season-opener under the roof as part of the draft of its 2020 fixture.
While the league is yet to finalise the fixture and could yet make last-minute changes before releasing it later next week, the two clubs look set to start exciting new chapters under new coaches, Brett Ratten and Rhyce Shaw, against each other in their first match of the regular season.

It will be a new-look St Kilda side featuring as many as five new recruits.
The Saints are coming off a successful trade period where the club added electrifying wingman Brad Hill, tough midfielder Zak Jones, tall utility Dougal Howard, speedster Dan Butler and veteran ruckman Paddy Ryder.
Last year’s top draft pick Max Ming could also be in the frame after working his way back from a knee reconstruction.
North could also hand x-factor midfielder Aiden Bonar his first North jersey after making the move from GWS Giants in the exchange period.

After being taken pick No. 11 two years ago, the Roos picked up Bonar for a future third-round selection which former Melbourne and Sydney great Gerard Healy labelled one of the steals of the trade period.
The Kangaroos are also slated to head to the Gabba to take on the Brisbane Lions in Round 2.

Too much to ask for it being our home game on Friday or Saturday night...

As an example, the Kangaroos / NMFC logo and branding at this link is owned by the AFL: https://search.ipaustralia.gov.au/trademarks/mobile/view/1113770

They can have all that lot, but it was basically Josh Bruce vs North when we did them easy this year, and Josh Bruce has gone.

Not concerned with Ryder either, Goldy gave him an absolute BATH in round 22.

Interesting stat: The last time North v StKilda featured in round 1 when Daniel Wells & Luke Ball both debuted. StKilda held a 1 point three quarter time lead before North ran over them (4.4 to 0.1) and won by 26 points.

Also you need to read up on the events of late 1896 to see how well this proposal would work for us.

Max Ming looks a great prospect

Jack Steven and Josh Bruce have historically gotten ahold of us in recent times and they are both gone.
I’m gonna say it. It’s round 1 and it’s us but honestly if Shaw has us primed this may get ugly as they try find their feet together.

Evenly-matched?

You ******* what now?

Peak St Kilda to play Ryder in the ruck and Marshall somewhere else.

Hill is a good player. We'll win.

On SM-G950F using BigFooty.com mobile app
Goldstein ended Ryder’s career at Port.
If Todd brings the same level of intent coupled with the Saints exits and getting their team to gel - it will be a famous win for them if Ratten can get it done. That’s my only concern.

Thank God we still got in our annual interstate season opener just a week later.

FFS - finish the story!
