I'm starting to get the feeling Kennedy could be in a bit of strife.

Mabon and Keys Snr are too.

We need to get rid of three players off the senior list this year, we won't be elevating any rookies.

I think Siera will get a one year extension as a "wait and see" type.

It's interesting to see who they have sitting in the 2014 slot as well, as they are essentially "on notice" for the same reason.

Could be a few trades this year imo, especially if they want to keep Kennedy.

I'm expecting both McKenzie and Curran to receive small pay increases to 2015.

Kennedy would be nervous, that's for sure. The odds certainly aren't in the favour of Keys Snr and Mabon.

I think Greenwood to the rookie list is on the cards. Or ideally Greenwood to another AFL club.

I think Siera needs to make some impact in the AFL to earn another go.

As I've said in the past, one of the young key forwards will probably end up at another club.

First time in a while we're unlikely to promote a rookie.

We say every year that it will be hard to find list space and it usually ends up being pretty easy.

One who hasn't been mentioned is Gysberts. People on here seem to be treating him like a new draftee but he's far from it. Needs to make an impact at AFL level to stick around IMO. It's interesting that we haven't seen him even as an emergency.

Yea i think kennedy will not get a contract, might pick him up again in the rookie draft though.

the 3 players i don't think will get contracts are Sierakowski, Mabon and Kennedy.

Hasn't he been one of the few in the VFL having good games every week? Hard to crack into the team when you're playing for one of Wells/Swallows/Ziebell's/Cunners spot.

Yeah Gysberts is safe for the time being imo, he has probably been our best VFL performer over the last 6 weeks. I am worried for Kennedy, Hansen and Delaney Snr.
Hansen might struggle to get back in the team and the more weeks his out the more likely he might be traded.
I am curious to see if Delaney Snr is relevant in our team anymore, we play west coast next week who have a forward line of Kennedy, Darling, Resting Ruck and possibly Sinclair as well, if he doesn't get a game against the eagles i cant imagine him getting a game for the rest of the year.
Kennedy the biggest ? of the lot, personally i want him to stay, but im not sure what he or the club will do at years end.

Got a feeling they might take into consideration his poor development at Melbourne as well as him having injuries for most of 2012.

I guess it depends how he's approaching his training at North. Given he was singled out as one of Melbourne's laziest, he'd want to have turned that around.

No one else finds it strange that even Taylor Garner got an emergency gig ahead of him?

Agree that it's hard to crack an inside mid spot atm. That being said, I think he'd make a decent sub.

I think the club see him as a 2-3 year prospect. From what a few of the boys have said at werribee, the club wants him to get stronger so he has been hitting the weights trying to put on some size as well as trying to get his core condition up to scratch. They aren't too concerned if he doesn't play games this year, it is a development year for him.

He will play a few games towards the end of the year I suspect.

In regards to list management I think it will be something along the lines of:

Primary list outs: Sierakowski, Kennedy, Mabon, Luke Delaney,

Rookie List Outs: Speight, Richardson, Warren

I would consider putting Curran or Wilkins on the rookie list considering where they are at in their development. Curran with his injury concerns and Wilkins because he is a stick figure.

Greenwood and Kennedy look like (at this stage) the only players who may try find a new home during trade week. Greenwood stays due to his contract situation.

That would give us 5 picks in the ND (with curran or wilkins to the rookie list) and two picks in the rookie draft.

IMO this is not going to happen. Curran was know to have injury issues when he was drafted and we knew about Wilkins size.

I would be extremely surprised to see either of these guys on a rookie list next year.

I thought it would be good if we had a thread to keep track of the players' contracts. These are the ones that I can think of that have been in the media.

2013
Greenwood

2013

Harvey
Firrito
Grima*
Wright
Daw
Mullett*
McKenzie*
Kennedy
Curran*
L.Delaney
Mabon
Sierakowski
Currie

Option A: Delist 3 or all of L.Delaney, Mabon, Sierakowski or Kennedy.
Option B: Trade Greenwood for an upgraded pick, delist 2 of the above.

Any preferences? I suppose there's no point upgrading the first round pick but Pick 25 would be better than circa 30-35.

With a minimum 3 delistings and no retirements expected you'd suggest those in trouble are L.Delaney, Mabon, Sierakowski and Kennedy. Would any of these blokes demand a re-drafting or rookie place?

I think Greenwood would breathe easy knowing he has a year to run.

Levi could easily end up on the rookie list if no other club shows interest. Or he could start getting a game and go well...

I don't think we would risk putting Wilkins within reach of other club's picks now.

The club seems to rate him highly and for such a physically immature guy he's shown a bit of class in VFL seniors already.

Harvey - obvious.
Firrito - no lock in the best 22 anymore but well and truly a required player for at least another year.
Grima - understandable to wait and see given his injury history. not expecting any issues here.
Daw - must sign. will get interest from elsewhere.
Mullett - will be getting a nice pay rise. timing is right for a long term deal to be announced soon.
Currie - not much we can do if he gets offered a #1 role elsewhere. otherwise he's an obvious re-signing.
McKenzie - will no doubt be offered an extension. family has moved to vic so no go home factor.

Kennedy, L.Delaney, Mabon, Sierakowski and Gysberts are all wait and see. Greenwood and, to a lesser extent, Anthony are candidates on the 2014 list for the Urquhart/Richo/Speight treatment.

I suspect this will be another season where early on we're wondering how we're going to find 3 to delist and by the end of the year there are plenty of options.

Currie
Kennedy
L.Delaney
Mabon
Sierakowski
Gysberts
Richardson (r)
Speight (r)
McGenniss (r)
Warren (r)

I'm updating the OP with each announcement.

IIRC:

Currie (2015)
Harvey (2014)
Grima (2014)
McGenniss (r) (2014)
Warren (r) (2014)

Which leaves:

Firrito (UFA)
Kennedy
L.Delaney
Mabon
Sierakowski
Gysberts
Richardson (r)
Speight (r)

3 senior list changes required; the club wants to retain Delaney but its looking more likely he'll be traded. Mabon should be retained after a strong season. Sierakowski and Gysberts looking on very shaky ground, one may be offered a rookie spot. Kennedy looks gone although may be saved if Firrito retires.

now with richo and speight gone it leaves only 6 uncontracted players on our list

Firrito (UFA)
Kennedy
L.Delaney
Mabon
Sierakowski
Gysberts

and i reckon only 2 of the above will get new contracts, 1 being delaney

We trade Delaney and a pick for a pick upgrade and move two to the rookie list and that could be all we need to do.
