Right.

We basically give 22 to Brisbane for Starcevich, which is what was more or less agreed at the time the priority pick was issued.

Then we trade 16 and 23 for 12, 33 and 50. This is almost exactly equal on points, but we end up with a higher pick, plus handy lower picks for Young, matching FS/NGA bids, or trading up further.

I am neither happy nor unhappy with this result.
i recall this happening in a trade last year. i swear they literally just plug shit into the trade machine and, if it lines up, agree to the trade lmao.

To ease everyone’s suffering
Probably saved a couple marriages and a heart attack for WC members

We'd all be better off if trade week happened in camera and we just saw the outcomes at 5pm on the last day.

But it still comes down to outcome. The most important domino to fall is Oscar Allen and we haven't even waited to see where that lands.

There's other trades needing to be done. No need to hold things up for no reason. For instance, Freo have already traded pick 23 to Melbourne for Judd McVee.

Why wait to the last minute and miss out on other potential trades for no reason?

What trades are we missing out on? Unless we're trading with Essendon or GC/Carl/Syd over picks and points we're small players.

1,2,13,34,38,53,58 after Oscar compo

1/ 13,34,38,53 for 7 from GCS no bids
2/ 58 for Young or PSD
3/ 2 for 5, 21
4/ Ryan and Chesser for 2 x F2s

1-Duursma
5-Sharp
7-Cumming
21-Dalton/Thredgold/Curtin
We may need some picks to match a bid on Williams now. A couple of footy commentators are saying he may attract an end-of-round-one bid.

Might need points for Williams…. Will be in first round range if Freo use their pick in the 20s for him. Don’t want to go into deficit for 2026 F1 round pick

I'm not sure what Gossage is suggesting there but it doesn't make much sense we'd engage Freo in a pick swap that gave them ammo to come for our NGA player. Either he's suggesting theres a nod they will leave him alone now that we've unlocked McVee, or he's trying to wind up the bed wetters like Woodcock is doing talking about pick 33 for Young.

Instantly regret engaging you in a reasonable manner.
Why don't you post a mature reasoned rebuttal of my point rather than failed attempts at snarky humour?

I'll try and help you develop some critical thinking skills here and think your way through this.

How long do you think it will be before Starcevich has a soft head knock of the same force as the GF?

Do you think thats rare for a backman backing into packs or getting pushed into oncoming traffic?

Do you think it is a once every 4 years event or a multiple times per season event for a player playing Starcevich's role?

And when it happens do you think the result will be something different to what it was in GF and what is your reasoning for thinking that?

We have Tylar Young, Campbell Chesser and Liam Ryan to sort out, then a potential move up for GC's pick 7, as well as potentially trading pick 1 to Essendon.

Can't get most of those done without getting this deal done first.

If he gets a bid in the 1R I am absolutely passing on him. 2R deficit is fine, we can find some 2R picks for next year out of Ryan and Chesser or next year.

Eagles trade: 16 + 23 + F2 + 57
Brisbane Trade: Starcevich + 19 + 52
Freo Trade: 12 + 33

Eagles get: Starcevich + 12 + 33 + 52
Brisbane get: 16 + F2 (eagles)
Freo get: 19 + 23 + 57

Leaves us with 1, 2, 12, 22, 33, 52

Surely freo are eyeing off Swadling or Rodriguez

I'm conflicted about whether this is a good deal. Feels like it's neither particularly bad or good.
So when we should have just handed over the PP. Instead we've upgraded pick 16 by only 4 picks, downgraded the PP by about 10 places and lost a pick in the 50's
Overall I think it's a loss for us.

You're not including the player we've recruited though.

If correct Starcevich for pick 53. Great job by Clarke and team.

There will clearly be no bid on Annable.

EDIT: It’s incorrect and we got bent over again.
100% this and the bid on Annable sorted is a very good job!!
Someone is driving the car from the passenger seat in our trades as we have pulled off a trade none of us expected to be happy with.
Well done Pyke, Woosha & Clarke :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

don't need to trade up now trade pick 1 to Essendon for 5,6 go into draft with 2,5,6,12
Right so, just give up by far the best player in the draft. Great strategy for a team severely lacking top end talent and I’m sorry but I do not trust us nailing 4 picks, lol.

That potential move up to 7 has well and truly sailed brother.

This doesn’t leave enough points for bids on Williams and Banfield (assuming Evan’s and Walley get through to rookie draft).

And Sharp is a putrid pick at 5.

A DEAL sending Brandon Starcevich to West Coast has been agreed upon by Brisbane and the Eagles, with Fremantle also involved in the three-club trade.

The deal will be ratified by the AFL on Wednesday but has been agreed by the clubs. AFL.com.au revealed what the deal was shaping up to be, with the trade set to see a swathe of picks change hands.

It will see the Eagles land the two-time premiership winner as well as picks 12, 33 and 52, and give up picks 16, 22 and 23.

The Lions are set to receive picks 16, 22, 44 and 50 as part of their haul, in exchange for losing Starcevich, pick 19, 46 and 52.

The Dockers cracked open the trade by using their pick No.12 to include in the trade, seeing them slide back for multiple selections. Fremantle will trade in picks 19, 23 and 46 in exchange for 12, 33, 44 and 50.

Pick 23 is expected to be immediately tabled for Judd McVee in a deal that could go through with Melbourne on Wednesday as well.

With this deal done, the expectation is the paperwork for Oscar Allen's free agency move to Brisbane comes through on Wednesday which is set to seal the Eagles a prized No.2 pick in this year's draft. - Callum Twomey
Hang on

So we gave up 19 and around 22 for 12. We paid overs. Way overs

Perhaps if you were mature enough to comprehend my initial response to you, you'd see I've already addressed all the questions you've asked.

You can live your life in hypothetical land, however, I choose not to.

Pick 12 is attractive on draft night if bombers come for pick 2.

1 2 12

Or

2 12 for 5 6

So 1 5 6
