Ok in Adelaide the last COVID-19 community spread case was march 20. A few thousand local people gathering in one place isn't going to make it suddenly reappear if it's simply not in the community. The march/gathering is in all likelihood safe and with that said you can push the use of masks maybe along with hand sanitiser and perhaps that helps a little if there is any risk at all. I don't believe there's going to be 4000 there, could be wrong but in Adelaide the demographic likely to make a stand is also the better educated amounst the population and maybe likely to see it as a risk? 1-2 thousand still plenty but might be manageable with distancing?

Allowing the march is the right call and it's minimising the risk of it becoming something worse so no problem with it regardless.

FOXTEL just announced that crowds will be allowed back into NRL games as early as next week.

One minute Glad does not allow a protest the next she is OK with crowds at sport.

Probably have to wait for the full details to see what controls are in place.
Initially only 50 people, in line with all other gathering limits I think. Enough to allow, for example, North Melbourne to open the gates. But yes, the whole thing seems so inconsistent. I think I'll just stay home.

I am ****ing furious that this bullshit protest is going forward I had to jump through hoops so my two daughter's could see their baby brother in the hopital because of this Covid bullshit now they can have a bullshit protest..

You no being half aboriginal I understand it but not now it makes me extremely mad my white family couldn't attend my great aunt's funeral a month ago we had ten people there 10 ****ing people for a lady that was 98 years old and lived in gawler her whole life and was a major part of Ports early foundation's in gawler and the barossa area

We couldn't even have any player's their or extended family

But we can just have a protest at the drop of a hat because they are to afraid to offend ffs my brother's pub is failing Willaston pub because they can't stay open but hey ****every other campaigner that's done the right thing pathetic

FFS. For the third week in a row our beloved Adelaide Channel Seven is showing a crows game as part of their weekly covid-19 footy vault game tomorrow night. This time its the 1997 preliminary final between the crows and geelong.

Thought as much- all media hype. A couple of elitist gatherings of 50 corporate johnnies each in a designated zone. Most people would define a crowd at the footy as people sitting in the outer and the stands but not FOXTEL.

I heard a news report on the ABC this morning mention 'crowds allowed back at NRL games next week'.

A start I guess but hardly the breakthrough the media are suggesting.

Yesterday's figures are lot better than they look at first glance. The majority are returned travelers in quarantine. From memory it is something like 8 of the 11 are quarantine cases.

I reckon there is a case for making overseas travelers in quarantine a separate category. That way we get a better idea of how much infection is present in the community.

Overnight an Oxford University study has confirmed hydroxychloroquine has no beneficial effects in the treatment of COVID-19. A study of 11,000 COVID victims has shown 25% of patients treated with hydroxychloroquine died while 23% of patients not administered hydroxychloroquine died.

The WHO has restarted it's trial after a Lancet article claiming no benefit was retracted. If the WHO trial draws the same conclusion as the Oxford study the issue will surely be resolved.

One way to reduce the numbers in your state

Ah those Vics again...a seasonal fruitpicker who moved to Bundaberg from Victoria has just tested positive.
Extensive contact tracing has begun.

We'll have to wait for two weeks to be sure but can't have different sets of rules for different people, time to fill AO.

We probably could purely on the basis of community spread in SA being non existent since March 20. By all means lock the borders but we've reached the stage in Adelaide COVID-19 has to be imported from elsewhere.

"Thousands are taking to the streets for rallies in Australia's capital cities despite warnings from governments and police to stay home to prevent the spread of coronavirus."

I think the SA police did the right thing in granting an exemption. People were going to protest whether an exemption was given or not. The police at least have some control.
"The decision has been taken to eliminate that factor (confrontation with people) by providing the exemption so this can occur as a peaceful protest, and we are very keen to work with the organisers."

So all you have to do is infer if you don't get your way you will get violent then cool, if we can't go to the footy etc let's just let it known there will be a showdown with police then and we will all be back at the footy right?
