Finished campaign, I thought it was boring to begin with but it got better, and in the end I actually found I enjoyed it quite a lot.

Finished it in 7 hours, 33 minutes and 19 seconds, probably should have taken longer as I tended to bypass all enemies (if it was possible) by using cloak, therefore getting out of having to actually stay put and eliminate every enemy in an area.

Ending Spoiler -
I liked how they left it until the very end to reveal those cloaked black and white Ceph creatures. Every time I saw one throughout the campaign (Church Tunnel, for example) I would try to chase it and shoot it but to no avail, and then I'd be left scratching my head wondering why this thing is there and why it disappears without a trace once you get to the end of the area you are in. Boy were they strong as well, I was lucky I held on to that weapon (X-43 MIKE) that makes the Ceph's bodies sort of combust in a way.

Got the game today and am enjoying it so far.

Started the game on the hardest difficulty. Going alright so far but I get the feeling it's going to drive me insane later on (seeing as it plays similar to BFBC2)

Also played my first multiplayer match and it's pretty fun. Definitely reminds me of BC2 in that regard and I also like the way the suit works. Makes it a bit more interesting when compared to most other FPS.

Agree with the bold bit. The suit works really well. Can be a huge advantage or disadvantage depending on how you use it. Love going up behind people cloaked and melee killing them :thumbsu:

Not sure it really plays like BC2 though....in what way do you mean? I may be wrong as I'm a massive fan of BC2 which could explain why I like this game so much....? Sort of reminds me of (dare I say it) COD only 1,343,760 times better though.:p

Solid game, especially if you are on a console and want a break from BC2/BO's MP - has a nice and entertaining, albeit short, single player as well.

As far as getting it on PC, you might as well consider it a separate game from the original Crysis all together. By that I mean, don't expect anything much like the original Crysis (which I loved, SP mainly, Wars was decent MP when it came out eventually). Probably the only similarity is that you are running around in a superman suit.

It is a long fall of grace for Crytek from when the original was the pinnacle of enthusiast PC gaming - beautiful, ground-breaking graphics and physics with solid gameplay as a fun sandbox style. Now, Crysis 2 doesn't even ship with the latest DX (still no word on a DX11 patch, they denied its validity as a rumour), has **** such as mouse acceleration and auto-aim on as default, reduced textures and is incredibly poorly optimized for multi-GPU setups. In fact, you have to run it as a different game's application profile (Bioshock works well) in order to get rid of the awful stuttering for more than one card (which scales rather poorly as well).

Yes, you may say "Stupid PC gamer master race and thirst for photorealistic graphics... it's the gameplay that matters!" I couldn't agree more. Crysis 2's SP is solid, as I said before, but there's no real openness like the first one had. It is as linear as FPS's come... Good luck trying to explore all of the urban buildings and multiple floors when you are bored (which in production they stated you will be able to do). Mechanically, by halfway through the game all of your enemies are meat shields, ruining any sense of excitement of what you may face next and varying tactics you may have to use - the game practically begs you to cloak every 10 seconds with the odd scattering of armour mode when you unhappily unload an entire magazine into an enemy, who simply pauses and continues charging at you.

Not that EA/Crytek care - they are going to (and are) be getting quite a bit of $ from this on the consoles. But that is business, and they have managed to get the game looking gorgeous on 360 and PS3 compared to anything else that is out with a MP that will entice people bored of CoD. Just don't expect it to be the next Crysis.

Thankfully, BF3 looks like it will be amazing. November can't come soon enough.

Wow, the netcode is really, insanely bad in this game, I honestly think Crytek are made up of guys who weren't good enough to be at Treyarch. I have not had one game yet where anyone but the host has been on a green connection, and every host so far has been Aussie.

I noticed this too, but even with a red connection I'm still top scoring games :D:thumbsu:

Doesn't feel really laggy or anything, not like a COD red connection anyway.

I agree with most of this. Crysis 2 is a step-back in many ways from the original, but there are plenty of improvements to go along with the backwards steps.

Firstly, the graphics on PC are utterly stunning. I don't care if its not DX11; tacked on DX11 (as opposed to BF3's built up from the ground DX11) has never made a huge amount of difference. The performance they have pulled from pretty average PC hardware is highly commendable. Crytek may not have made another "graphics king for the next 5 years" like they did with C1, but my god do they know their shit, technically. I didn't think a game could look this good on my PC, in 1080p, with 4aa, in 3D, everything maxed and constantly 60+fps. The lighting is miles ahead of the lighting in C1, imo. The big downer is the lack of physics though, its a game changer and a big step back.

The game plays so much more enclosed than C1. When I was reading console players talking about how open it felt I kind of held out for some hope that the levels would be huge with multiple paths but that aspect is pretty limited. Significantly so compared to Crysis 1, although not so much when compared to Warhead, which was already seeing Crysis on the path to a more linear experience. Saying that, the game is still fun as hell, the suit is still awesome (though not as good as the original...), and it still offers a much greater variety within its gameplay than the endless amounts of whack-a-mole, tunnel shooter CoD clones, of which, BF3's single player is looking to be, unfortunately.

I'm not even going to bother talking about MP, because I've barely touched it and likely never will. I hated the demo, and I didn't like the hour or so I played after I finished the campaign, so I'm done with that.

Finally, the story. I don't understand what they were thinking. They've meshed a retcon/remake/sequel frankenstein of a story together and have, at the very least, created a massive, unexplained hole in the story from the end of C1 to C2. Not to mention the aliens look completely different, don't have freeze rays (which was so much better than them coming out of the ground), among many other plot holes, like what happened to Nomad and Psycho?. That actually really annoyed me. Nomad was a meat-and-potatoes spec ops character but Psycho was probably the best protagonist in an FPS I can remember. The whole thing is such a weird, nonsensical mess if you have played C1. It actually works better to have not played the original, and yet they refer to events from the original many times. They should have either continued the story, or completely disregarded it. This half "yes that happened" half "no that didn't happen" stance from the originals plot points is absurd. Also, silent protagonists SUCK. To go from Psycho in Warhead to Alcatraz,
who illogically won't make a peep even though every one keeps on referring to him as Prophet, and were trying to kill him for most of the game because of it was so ****ing stupid.

Anyway, I liked it. It looks amazing, plays great and even though in many ways its a step back from the original, its still the best game I've played so far this year.

I noticed this too, but even with a red connection I'm still top scoring games :D:thumbsu:

This is still the case for me too, but there is a major difference between the red connection and the host and the three-bar connection (takes plenty more bullets to take someone down).

Doesn't feel really laggy or anything, not like a COD red connection anyway.

I would have agreed with this before yesterday, but after last night I can't. The main problem is the way the game selects host, it seems to swap host around a lot to make things fair, which means people who have no hosting capabilities at all somehow pull host. This was the case in a game last night where everyone was red except the host, and every killcam would show me (and others) walking on the spot (like a treadmill), which also meant plenty of bull**** deaths.

Besides seeing as I haven't been red on a CoD since the early days of MW2, I can't really relate it to that (as I can't remember), but the red connection is still bad, melee is difficult, and as said earlier it's taking more bullets than it should to take someone down. The fact that it is giving a red connection when it's an Aussie host is just plain ridiculous and annoying, but again that relates back to the way it selects host, which is just plain stupid, I want a good host, not a fair selection of hosts (even when it selects me).

Edit: This is really beginning to frustrate me, tonight (Sunday) I finally get put into a game with a perfect host (everyone on green), but was does the game decide to do next round? It feels it's better to switch host around and give everyone poor connection and ping (red bar).

Played the game a bit more and can safely say that the multiplayer is absolute garbage.

I can recall unloading a whole clip on an enemy and they didn't go down. FPS games just don't seem to work when you load players up with so much health.

At first I thought it would be interesting to have the suit powers like Cloak and Armor mode in the multiplayer but they completely break the game. Everyone uses them to an extreme extend and it ruins the pace of the game. The occasional laggy game doesn't help much either.

With that being said, I still think the single-player is great. Has some great moments and the level design is top notch by most FPS standards.

Well duh...this could've all been avoided by reading earlier my post about the MP demo. I think everything anyone has said that was bad about the MP was covered already in my epic post.

Single Player and Multiplayer are too hard for a casual gamer like myself, as shit as it is CoD is the best FPS for a casual player. I will try to play this game a little more but I will probs end up trading it in.

Except for the countless people that have contadicted your whiny post and are enjoying a good game.

Everything you said is spot on HBK, regarding the controlls i think they might have tweaked them because i reckon they had improved the second time around.
I really wish I could like this game.
I grabed this baby today (for eb credit) and well the MP is as shit as i thought it would be, the SP isn't to bad but if you aren't cloaked you might as well have a big ****in neon sign on ya head sayin SHOOT ME, IM OVER HERE.

Never been shot in the back so much in a game before, the first 4 times i spawned in a game i got shot in the back WTF is with that.

For anyone looking to get it do yourself a favour, go stick a red hot sharp knife up your ass, it would be more fun than playing this.

At least something good will come of this game, it's going to get me afl
$53 worth of games has got me Homefront(SP and about 15 hours of MP, now traded) Crysis 2 (1-2hours of SP and NOT long on MP, now traded) and soon AFL with about $40 credit
I give up trying to get connected to multiplayer. Have tried everything possible (reset router, turn off firewall, plug in Ethernet cable instead of using wireless connection, port forwarding, yelling at it :D, reinstalling game data and trying it on a US account just in case its a region thing) but nothing works and i still get a multiplayer menu flash on screen followed by network connection lost check network connectivity

PSN still connected, NAT type 2 and this is the only game i've ever had problems on. going around in circles trying to find an answer on the net and theres no info about an incoming patch to fix these problems (apparently patch 1.1 fixed some connection issues )Think its time to trade this in, already finished single player and wanted to trophy whore the multiplayer but seems a bit hard when i cant access it at all.

Good job Crytek, bunch of muppets :thumbsd: should've seen it coming when i couldn't connect to the multiplayer demo a few weeks ago
Really trying to get into the multiplayer of this but to no avail, much like Black Ops, poor netcode and hit detection is pushing me away. My first online game was brilliant, but every game since then has been terrible.

Excuse the huge quotes, but yeah, tons of countless contradiction there. True, true.:thumbsu:

I know this is your babby and you're having a go at anyone who has a go at the game too (case in point of Sacka and Jordz's post responses). But maybe it just ain't that special? I certainly accepted it with KZ3, maybe you should with this?

How are the sales going on this one? i do remember you saying that it would outsell KZ3 by a mile.
Even though KZ3 had a months headstart im pretty sure it has still outsold C2 AND dont forget KZ3 is an exclusive unlike the multiplatform Crysis 2.

Can't be bothered finding quotes, but pleny of people enjoying this game, and saying so in this thread.

I couldn't care less tbh. Haven't even played it.

No idea, want to have a look?

Sold about 900k in about 3 weeks. KZ3 on 1280k after 7. Should smash it.

Seems to me 95% are enjoying the SP not the MP, which is a whole different kettle of fish and something I have not once had a go at. Majority is holding the 'MP is shit' reigns atm.

So....this was a post with no basis?

Err....no.
Thanks for informing.

Highly unlikely, you do realise there's a shitstorm of games being released in the next few weeks to a month? Mortal Kombat, SOCOM 4, Portal 2 and in a month LA Noire. All of these titles are set to do well.

Will easily stop any momentum Crysis has, which isn't much. C2 will be selling less than 100k units within 2 weeks, while KZ3 only just dropped out of that zone.

I was replying to the 'Crytek is made up of guys who couldn't cut it at Treyarch' comment. Aspergers much?

Hilarious, you're dropping.

Nice comeback :thumbsu: I dont think he has a leg to stand on after that one:rolleyes:

for the record
KZ3 has sold around the 1.3 million units
Crysis 2 hasn't hit the Mill mark yet for all 3 platforms  and is sitting about .8 million units sold just on consoles, got a long way to go buddy.

Yes, hold your breath while I reply to HBK's vacuous predictions :o

As I said, 900k on consoles after 3 weeks. KZ3 1280k after 7. We'll see.

Regardless, KZ3 is a steaming pile of dogterd. Much like KZ2.
