Crysis was just a tech demo, so I dont understand why they're putting something like it on consoles. It was made so people could test how powerful their PC's were, which is pointless on consoles. Most PC gamers got, upgraded their system so they could play it then went back to WOW or some other piece of shit.

or those of us that aren't complete window lickers already had decent comps. I personally can't stand fps games on consoles didn't really like Cry1 anyway

Are you really impressed with that stuff? Pretty shocking demo IMO and there's hardly been anyone in the press that has been saying anything different.

First off Crytek say they are making "the most advanced AI ever" then you get a boss that just stands in a room and doesn't move...and you have tons of enemies that walk up to you and don't kill you despite being half a cm behind you...

Apart from that, the weapons look weak and under powered and the overall gunplay just looks average. Not to mention they put a demo in an enclosed space while spouting about the vast open areas full of amazing verticality that NY has. It still looks good and all, and having been there myself only a couple of months ago will bring back memories...but there's been nothing blowing me away so far.

That combined with the previous demo that was shown, has left me not expecting much from this at all.

CRYSIS 2 DELAYED
During Electronic Arts' Q1 fiscal earnings call, the publisher announced it has delayed Crysis 2 until early next year.

The game will now ship during EA's fiscal fourth quarter, which begins on January 1, 2011.

"We moved to the game to a better marketing window in the March quarter," Jeff Brown, VP of Corporate Communications told IGN. "This will also give the Crytek team more time to polish a great title."

Crysis 2 was originally scheduled to ship during this fall for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

I would hate to see what all these games would look like if they came out on there original released date.
Why dont they stop blowing smoke up our arse and just say they are not as good as they thought, set an unrealistic realease date and are not finished.

Publishers shit themselves at the thought of ever mentioning that the game is potentially not where they wanted it to be and that could eventually translate to half hearted thoughts of "is this game still any good?" This way it's the positive negative spin, "the game is still awesome - so don't worry about it not being any good right at this moment - but needs more time to get more awesome" kind of thing.

'Polish' is certainly the new buzz word this gen for games being pushed back though.

Crytek’s just announced a March release for Crysis 2.

In the US, it’ll release on March 22, and in Europe on March 25 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

It looks like CoD with 2 suit functions, nicer graphics and half the framerate.

Why couldn't they have just built off of Crysis Wars? that had some really good idea's behind it. This whole game is looking inferior to the original with the reduced suit functions, and bland setting. Being on an island with an epic draw distance was what made Farcry and Crysis so awesome in the first place.

They've turned it into everybody else's game and stripped it of what made series unique, at least it appears so far to me. I hope I'm wrong and it turns out great, but C2 has gone from one of my most wanted games to something i'm not overly excited about.

Wholly underwhelming indeed.

At least the guns sound a little bit chunkier than the pea shooter of past showings. But there's just not a whole lot to go on that says this will be different or better than what is and will be out there.

I'm still mildly interested in the story and setting, because a properly re-created NYC would be pretty sweet. But I don't think I'll be buying based on that alone really.

This looks good graphics wise, but yeah the framerate isn't too flash.

Why are people surprised about the frame rate? He's playing it on a 360, of course it's going to be laggy. Crysis 1 had top of the line graphics and only the most beasty computers could run it on release. I was always skeptical about the ability for consoles to run Crysis 2.

Imagine trying to run Crysis on a computer as old as the 360. You'd be kidding yourself.

The original is still probably the best looking thing on any machine.

The thing with 2 is though it's using a completely new engine made especially for consoles. So there are a lot of compromises, there's a heap of vids about with the tech demo for the Crytek engine and the differences between 1 and 2. Draw distance, number of objects and framerate were significantly worse.

At the moment, we're getting slightly more performance from PS3 compared to 360. I'm very confident that products using CryEngine 3 are going to come out as the best looking, or at least in the top three, on every platform.

It doesn't matter what it looks like if I'm getting bloody 3 frames per second.....

Surely a consistent acceptable frame rate trumps graphics.

It would have to be. They add heaps of field of view fuzzyness to cover up the fact that consoles can't process as much as PCs.

I hope that CryEngine 3 is being developed not just with consoles in mind. The game has to look better than Crysis 1 for starters and there is no way a console could run that at anything above low settings.

i read a preview on this game earlier today being played on the pc with the 360 controller (why!?) and the guy seemed pretty impressed with it.
apparently he wasn't overly impressed with the original crysis's graphics (tbh i wasn't at the time either for some strage reason) but he's very impressed with the new one.

no doubt this game will be stunning on the pc most likely raising the bar again but i'm not so certain it will be the best looking game on console. (which will obviously be far inferior to the pc version.)
i truly can't see it being better than what uncharted 3 is already showing which is still 11 months out ....
