What the hell was that, Curtly?

I don't think I've ever seen a player so completely unable to affect a contest for the entirety of the game at AFL level, ever. Just woeful. Made me long for Donuts McGregor circa 2008.

Sorry Curtly, I was excited when we got you, but something has gone badly wrong for you. Time to pack it in.

First disposal was a handball, half-way through the 3rd. Second disposal was a throw (not called by the umpires), which went directly to a Richmond player.
The 2nd handball is a fair payback for the free kick he should have got for a holding the ball on Dustin Martin earlier in the game.

Hampton last night actually looked mentally cooked.

That piece of play where he put in very little effort and then just literally gave up spoke volumes about where he is at mentally and the level of commitment he appears to have for the club.

It's pretty obvious that he is gone at the end of the year, if he can't actually be bothered putting in an effort for the team then leave your guernsey at the door and don't come back.

That was one of the worst efforts I’ve seen. He’s gone. It’s a shame but I wonder if he’s just not up to the pressure of this level.

That will be the final game he plays for the club. Delist end of the year.

I’d say mentally weak.

Pretty sure he ended his AFL career with that effort running toward goal last night. Absolutely pathetic.

Must have really connected with young Rankine earlier in the year (and spent a bit of time on this forum) because he was doing his absolute best to lose the game for us last night. An entirely selfless act IMO because based on his performance he will never play for the AFC alongside Izak now.
It takes a lot of mental fortitude to roll over so meakly in front of 54,000 people. Cop the jeers and the rough exit interview but walk out of the club knowing you did your bit in derailing a season for the greater good. Let's hope the SA draft talent is as good as the hype.

Thank you for your lack of contribution and farewell Curtly Hampton.

Well last night's game was basically the last straw for Hampton. I don't understand how somebody can play so well in the SANFL and be so completely ineffective in the AFL. I realise there is a big drop off in quality between the two leagues but it's more than just that. Hampton has the physical qualities to play in the AFL. His problems are all between the ears. He literally shits his pants playing in the AFL.

If we're being honest Hampton probably never should have been playing in the midfield in the first place. We tried to convert a half back flanker to a midfielder and failed miserably.

He hasn't been that good at SANFL, it is just a very weak team.

Serious question - are we playing him because we’re scared he could completely blow the lid on collective minds and force our off-field group into terminations?

Should we expect a Mackay-esque contract renewal complete with guaranteed off field job when he retires just so he doesn’t ever come clean?

That performance goes way deeper than just mental weakness. Ive never seen anything like that at an AFL level. He was making a statement for whatever his reasons. Massive issues at AFC. I really believe something unsavoury is going on in that club.

See this sort of innuendo grows out of the baseless speculation from the media about the overall impact. Hampton played well in the SANFL for weeks trying to get back in. He wouldn`t just go about making a statement in that way because as of right now, If one of my players did that and I found out it was a statement, They would be asked to clear their locker out and don`t let the door hit their arse on the way out. Oh in fact I probably wouldn`t even let them back inside the club. Id get management to empty his locker for him and dump it at reception. His effort was just shit. There is no other explanation for that and his career in the AFL could be over after that. Eddie and Milera don`t seem to have a problem so why would Hampton now?

I don't think it was anything about making a statement.

I think he was just completely outplayed on the day and eventually it got to him. When you've gone touchless at half time in a losing team, you know already that you're going to be dropped next week. By midway through the third quarter he was so down on himself that he couldn't do anything right.

Unfortunately, he's just not good enough. Maybe he was at one point in his career, but he's not now, and I don't see him rejuvenating himself in time to save it.
