This week its a real tester. Adelaide are stronger than what they have come across so far this season, and with a new coach and a weeks rest its like a fresh start. It will be interesting to see if we can replace thompson and wheatley and still have the same impact. I think if we can win this we would be a real chance against st kilda.
GO DEES

Should be a good game, though looks like I'll get wet watching it by the forecast. I expect the Crows to be competitive, but Melbourne should win with a more even team perfoemance.

FYI, my side would be:

F: Edwards, Welsh, Skipworth
HF: Johncock, Perrie, Watts
C: Doughty, Ricciuto, Reilly
HB: Mattner, McGregor, Hentschel
B: Rutten, Bassett, Torney
R: Clarke, Bode, McLeod
I: Biglands, Bock, Shirley, Gallagher

IN: Perrie, Torney, Gallagher
OUT: Smart (retired champion), Stenglein (injured), Jericho

Defensive matchups - Bassett v Neitz, Rutten v Holland, McGregor v Miller, Hentschel v Robertson.

Forward matchups - Perrie v Rivers, Nicholson v Watts, Wheatley (or Bizzel if he is fit?) v Welsh

You guys rotate your midfield a fair bit, so anything could happen there. Who will you put on Roo? Gather we may use Shirley to try & quieten Yze at some stage. Containing both Bruce & Green is also a worry.

What line-up do you guys expect to put on the park?

I would think either Whelan (great job a year or two ago) or Godfrey to come in to take the challenge of curbing the Brownlow medallist.

Possible lineup

B: Whelan, Nicholson, Brown
HB: Yze, Rivers, Broadbridge
C: Johnstone, Green, McLean
HF: Robertson, Miller, Bruce
FF: Davey, Neitz, Vardy
Foll: White, Heffernan, McDonald
Int: Godfrey, Ward, Walsh, Read

In: Godfrey, Johnstone, Ward
Out: Wheatley, Thompson, Holland

Something along those lines, midfield positions can be switched around of course. Also Chris Lamb could come in if Holland is dropped.

Bloody hell. This game will be the 4th week in a row we play in the wet.

I'd say our side would look like this:

B. Whelan Nicholson Ward
HB. Brown Rivers Broadbridge
C. McLean Yze Green
HF. Bruce Miller Robertson
F. Davey Neitz Vardy
R. White Heffernan Johnstone
Int. Holland Bell Read McDonald

Ins. Ward, Johnstone, Bell

Outs. Wheatley (Inj), Thompson (Inj), Walsh

I hope Perrie doesn't play - he murdered us last year. Although we didn't have Rivers then did we? :)

I remember in a pre-season game a few years back Godfrey was giving Roo the absolute ****s scragging him ... until Roo exploded & body slammed Godfrey on Footy Park. Godfrey played a bit looser on Roo after that ... though got the free.

Forgot Wheatley was injured - that's a big loss for you guys.

it would have been more of a loss if broadbridge and rivers hadn't stepped up like they have

he is leading our marks but so yeh it is a gap we'll have to fill but thats footy

we should win but hopefully we dont get ahead of ourselfs. basically it would be a major dissapointment if we lost.

Roos opponent can only be one man this time around:

Cameron Bruce.

Lamby, why would we drop Walsh for Bell, when Walsh played twice as well on the weekend at Sandy? Dreaming.

TJ and Ward in for Thommo and Wheatley

Looks to be a cracker of a game though!

Yes Kane, I remember it well. Roo had sucked Godders into giving away a free, Roo of course drilled the goal & went over to Godders to remind him about it. Within a minute Godders had turned the tables & won a free, he quite amazingly kicked a goal from his free kick as well.

Was a good little duel. :D

T.W. Godfrey should return after kicking 5 goals for the Zebra's against Port Melbourne, he'll definitely be in the middle annoying the **** out of somebody. However it probably won't be Roo, more likely McLeod (until he's thown forward where Wrecker takes over!).

I'd like to see McLean take on Roo at some stage but Heffernan's my tip. Can't see us using Bruce on Roo, he gets Burton usually but this time the shackles could be released.

B: Whelan, Nicholson, Broadbridge
HB: Brown, Rivers, Read
C: Green, Bruce, McLean
HF: Davey, Miller, Yze
F: Vardy, Neitz, Robertson
Fol: White, Heffernan, McDonald
I/C: Johnstone, Walsh, Ward, Godfrey

In: Godders, TJ, Ward

Out: Thommo, Wheatley, Holland

holland could be useful to realli stretch adelaides defense without smart

they may be forced to put someone like perrie down there.

im guessing godders (if he plays) on mcleod and bruce on roo.

The thing about Smart is that he wasn't even getting a game for the majority of this year, so it doesn't really hurt us at all in defence.

Torney was ommitted for Smart's final game. JT will now come back in for Nige.

I think it'll be a great game to watch, but the Dees just have a very balanced and skilled list that clearly justifies a win.

Kane, I think Robbo may just stretch Potenschel's pace. Perhaps Hentschel goes on Miller?

But who would Kenny go on instead?
