Must have dominated.

Do you know what his stats were?

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...e-national-draft/story-fn82yfty-1226114345544

Darling was responsible for the highest recorded Champion Data SuperCoach score of 308 points (19 disposals, 14 contested possessions, nine marks, seven contested marks, eight tackles, four goals, four scoring assists and seven inside 50s) at an under 16s championships game.

Not that super impressive in itself but I think he must've kicked the winning goal for a 50 point bonus.

What is your clubs biggest recruiting blunder ?

We have had a few but i think the following is pretty hard to swallow

After 1 reserves game Bill Morris was cleared to Richmond in a swap for Col Galbraith

The Result

Bill Morris `

1948 Brownlow Medal
AFL Hall of Fame
Richmond Team of the Century
Richmond Best and Fairest
Richmond Captain

Morris was a compulsive gambler and tragically took his own life in 1960 aged just 39

Col Galbraith

4 Games

Leg Injury ended his career

Ironically Col later became a club doctor at Melbourne

Died in 1968

Doug Wade was another but that's another story

As far as I know, Steven King is the only player to play in a VFL and AFL premiership side in the same season. Any similar stories (Aaron Keating)?

I can't remember how many games in the NAB cup he played in 2008, but assuming he played all 4, he played in 3 'premierships' in 6 consecutive (split over 2 years) games.

Brent Guerra, after playing for 3 different clubs and 250 games, has never lost to Carlton. He's 15-0 against them.
Needs to be bottled no doubt.
If the Hawks were any sort of club they'd hire him out on weekends to oppo side like a jumping castle.

Former Essendon star Paul Van Der Haar was late to a game at Windy Hill once because he refused to leave a pinball game at a nearby fish and chip shop (top score was a stake) while waiting for his pre-game hamburger.

Great story from Tim Watson that one

A very young Watson would stay with teammates and get a lift to games (didn't have a license)

He crashed at Vanders house. Vanders and his mates were up til 4am drinking and playing cards

A very nervous Watson couldn't wake Vanders up in the morning to go to the ground. Eventually he got him up, Vanders walked around looking for his cigarettes and they eventually got going with about 20 mins to get from Ringwood to Windy Hill

Then Vanders stops to get a hamburger at a fish and chip shop, and refuses to leave as he's on a roll on the pinball machine.

They eventually arrive nearly an hour late, Watson shitting himself runs into the rooms to face Sheeds

Vanders has a smoke and strolls into the rooms.

Vanders kills them, Watson didn't get a kick.

Speaking of smokes..I'm pretty sure this is true...Simon Madden, Leon Baker and a few other players lit up **** and puffed away on the ground after the 84' GF win.,

Vanders is like the Anti-Christ when comes to star players acting like professionals.

The best one is when he was young and Sheedy had just started out as coach and wanted to meet individual players and get to know them.

Vander arrived at the coaches home for his interview/chat/meeting with half a dozen tallies under his arm...

Richmond was the first team ever to finish 9th in VFA history as they finished 9th of 10 teams in 1885
Richmond was the first team ever to finish 9th in VFL history as they finished 9th of 10 teams in 1908
Richmond hold the AFL record for most 9th placed finishes (6), this is double the next most which is a tie between Hawthorn and St Kilda on 3.

Yep, he won the SANFL premiership with Norwood in 1997 as well as Adeaide a week prior.

In 1997, Nathan Buckley had 453 kicks and 97 handballs for 550 possessions.
In 2010, Mark Jamar had 66 kicks and 207 handballs for 273 possessions.
In 2009, Daniel Cross had 162 kicks and 419 handballs for 581 possessions.
In 2011, Dane Swan had 505 kicks and 315 handballs for 820 touches.

One from the 1999 AFL Yearbook.

Darren Jarman had 3 goals from 3 kicks in the 3rd quarter vs St Kilda.
They were his only disposal numbers for the game.

Corey Enright (261) has played the most games for the Cats by a South Australian and Joel Corey for a West Australian (268.)

Cale Morton kicked the first ever goal at AFL level at Adelaide Oval.

Tom Wills (Founder of AFL) was involved in an massacre by Aboriginals in Queensland. His father was leading a party to help set up grazing holdings etc. They were ambushed and most of the party were killed. Tom Wills was 26 at the time and was on of 6 (out of 25) who survived.

He later went on to coach the first Aboriginal cricket team.

Tom Wills rightfully has his own thread.

Great stuff folks, keep them coming!

St Kilda were not admitted to the VFL due to their superior ground, as many believe, but because of the location of that ground. The VFL wanted a north/south balance, and the Saints fit the bill. Port Melbourne was initially favored to be invited, but rough crowd behavior was a main issue that ruled them out.

The boroughs would've been much better.

You know you're traveling badly when Melbourne supporters start questioning your place in the competition! Its Borough, not Boroughs, btw.

Why? $333k per year for a guy like Maxwell isn't that exorbitant.

Except for the fact it's about $332k more than what his form at the time deserved. :D
