BROWNLOW medallist Jimmy Bartel said the Cats would take on troubled Collingwood forward Alan Didak should the Pies offload him at the end of the season.

GEELONG forward Paul Chapman has put his contract negotiations with the premiership club on hold until the end of the season.
The 26-year-old premiership hero had been in negotiations for a new deal, but has told his manager to hold off on signing a contract until season's end, according to president Frank Costa.

Rumours abound that Geelong and Collingwood will trade their great half fowards at the end of the season. Geelong hierarchy think they will be able to contain Didak's off-field 'enthusiasm' and that his ball getting and goal sneaking abilities will be a great addition to the cat forward line.

Apparently they also believe that the left-footed swooper will provide balance and flexibility to the team - having a HF line with 3 former 'troubled' but talented players will stop the current childish infighting between the Camster and Johno about who is the better team player.

What do other Cat fans think?

Re: Diadk in, Chappy out

Silly title.

Cats would never do a swap like that and (hopefully) you know it.

Jimmy never said "yeah we'll take him".

Last week he said something about how there'd be 15 clubs interested but he never said 'yeah we'll have him'.

Chappy aint going anywhere.

Re: Diadk in, Chappy out

Not that i'm for it or anything but you have to admit a forward line with SJ and Didak would be a lot of fun...

Re: Diadk in, Chappy out

I'd go spare if that rat tailed bellend wore the blue and white hoops.

Re: Diadk in, Chappy out

Probably fit him in our VFL team:D.

To be serious, if Collingwood was to clear him it would only be if it was an extra special deal. My Collingwood mates reckon a 3 way deal involving Brisbane, an S.A club and Collingwood whereby Brown ends up at Collingwood and Didak ends up in his home State at either Port or the Crows is a possibility. Apparently Collingwood is prepared to offer Brown a 5 year deal.

As for us, we would have to give up too much and I'm not keen on taking a player with a history like his.

Re: Diadk in, Chappy out

we could never get didak unless a high profile player like chapman loosened up the salary cap a bit...

cats fans have to admit it, didak is a great player, and if he wanted in and chappy wants out... why not?

agree. Everyone keeps saying chappy bleeds blue and white. But from the looks of it, he doesn't.

Hate didak only because he is a pies player, but struth he is damaging

Re: Diadk in, Chappy out

Interesting. I can remember stressing about Jimmy when he stalled his contract talks last time around.

I guess when we're travelling so well it's easy to get nervous about something that is somewhat normal coming up to a finals campaign.

No Didak, we may have turned some players around, but you don't chase down problem players unless you need to. On top of this we fixed some boys who were stupid at times, in my opinion Didak is stupid, arrogant and dishonest, just too big a risk.

Because he hasn't signed?

I think it's rather harsh to question his loyalty and commitment based purely on the fact he hasn't re-signed yet, especially when you consider his history.

yeah pretty much.

You'd have to agree it is strange considering the vocal commitments he has made over the past 2 years.
You'd think he would be first in.

Happy to be wrong. I love him, but it wouldn't bother me too much either way.

Re: Diadk in, Chappy out

I'd have liked to have thought that Chappy has a bit of credit in the bank when it comes to this stuff, and thus deserves the benefit of the doubt (especially since none of us know the intricacies of the negotiations).

Paul Chapman, like Jimmy Bartel, has always been one of the last to sign.
I don't think there is anything unusual about his situation.

If you 'love him', why would you be so keen to question his loyalty, on the basis of very little?

I'm all for sinking the boots into players who leave, but i think your criticism is grossly unfair.

Re: Diadk in, Chappy out

Chapman is going nowhere. period. just because he hasnt signed yet doesnt mean his cred should ever be questioned. thats plain dumb. i do contract work, and dont sign any new ones until the day before my old one ends - usually to see how much extra i can grab!

From memory Jimmy never said the Cats would take the gunman. He said 15 clubs would be interested.

Didak can bugger off and rot in hell.Sorry,he already is at the Letsuck Centre.
