He's out of contract at the end of the season, and he gave the old Stenglein, Johnson, Crr, Stevens line of we'll have a look at that at the end of the year.
Dillon then said that we'll have to get him an Adelaide girlfriend to keep him here, and waited in vain but got zero response.
Personally I read it that he wants to go home. He is about that age when they do want to.
If that proves to be the case then we should move heaven and earth to involve Perrie in a trade for Pav. Obviously we'd have to balance the deal up.
Whatever Adelaide come up with as a deal I'd like to sweeten the deal a little more by chucking in Smith as a freebee.![]()

He's contracted till the end of 2007. He's our captain in waiting. I hate to deflate your fantasies, but really, Pav will not be playing anywhere but Freo until at least 2008. We have made some pretty serious trading blunders over the years, but Pav? I mean he's the heart and soul - he's one of the few things we can hang our collective hats on... Pav pretty much is the Freo Footy Club. The likelihood of him being traded is zero. For at least the next couple of seasons, anyway.

F-U said:Seriously i wudnt trade Butler/Waters jockstrap for Ian Perrie, never mind Pavlich. Ian Perrie at best is worth a 2nd rounder or a fringe player (ie. Rowan Jones). This is typical Adelaide supporters talking up there junk. Eagles wouldnt need him neither would Freo. If you expect any more then a 2nd round pick you need to come back down to earth and actually wake up and see what a dud he is. Both teams have a better CHF, and with a kick like Perries youd prefer him to be as far away from goal as possible. Unlike the Stenglein trade if Perrie asked to come home you couldnt demand anything from the clubs cos he isnt a good enough player to get that sort of attention.
In other words, stop dreaming

Having a think about this it is extremely difficult to see it. A lot of other factors come into it.Lets take personality out and lets do the deal..we see that Pav has 2 years of contract at $400,000 a year which Adelaide has to pay, Perrie leaving frees up estimated guess $150,000 a year? VB as well $60,000 we come up with Adelaide in minus territory of $380,000. BUT wait M Clarke is retiring and at an estimated $200,000 freed up the figures look better.ImperialPurple said:Maybe - but he was out of contract so Port had to deal. Pav's contracted till 2007. You may have a shot at him for season 2008, but before then... it is highly, highly, highly, highly unlikely. .
Originally posted by Jars458 I agree with your sentiments, but doesn't he have something in his contract about Freo playing finals footy?
) I can't confirm or deny that. There's always speculation about the exact contents of contracts of the game's bigger players. Also, you risk losing him for much less if you wait till his cotnract runs out.
Having said that, I think you are right
Pavlich is a fine young man and is very principled.

**** said:Perrie might decide he wants to leave to Perth, but in the end those clubs won't want him, regardless of how cheap he comes, and he will remain at Adelaide.
But at least I expect the Crows will make the finals with him playing as a forward ("who can't mark & kick") & I can collect another bet Mitch.Mitch Power said:Spot on ****. I know Freo have had a history of bad trades but Perrie for Pavlich or Polak - you would have to be joking. Why would any club be interested in a slow key forward who can't mark and can't kick.![]()

Drummond said:Why would you sacrifice Van Berlo is the deal? Playing league footy in your first year is quite uncommon, especially considering he was taken at pick 24. Although he's only averaging a few touches a game, give him time.

Bockchoy67 said:Given how highly the AFC rate Van Berlo there's NO WAY we'll be seeing The Count in a Freo jumper anytime soon.![]()

And it's not as if the shambles that is the current day Freo are as attractive as they were back in 2003 when Connolly boasted about the F-word, "Finals".
They've gone backwards while we're surging.
Given he's an unabashed Crows fan the only roadblocks between Pav and West Lakes are his contractual obligations and his price - we're not talking about Stephen "Brunswick forever!" Kernahan.
