Since Fearless Fosdike finnished up, we have not had a an out and out outside mid. Then you have to go back to 2005 when Williams was about to have had two to turn to in the team. Perhaps the answer lies within, Rohan the Roller and Jetta The Jaunty. We still would need another.

Stanton - possible. Would do well with us.
Wells - possible. Is he worth half a dozen good games a season.
Young - possible, Dawks may look to cash in. SCG superstar in the making.
Pearce - can pearce off.
Jamie Bennell - undoubted class, though tends to turn it up at times.
Rex Liddy - Suns cant fit em all in FFS! And Liddy would light up the SCG!

No doubt King Kinnear has his Horse hitlist, and with B1 and Bung knee Bradshaw bidding farewell a buck or two to toss about!
Onwards and outwards!

If we wanted Wells we should have gone for him at the end of any of the last few years. He's going nowhere now that he has finally hit consistent form that is appropriate for his level of talent.

Hawks would want top dollar for Clint Young but he could be a great pick up. I'd love us to go for Travis Colyer from Essendon. He's only young and the Dons would want overs for him but if he continues to get inconsistent game time for Essendon, I'd definitely go for him.

Let's at least wait until he's played a game or 2.

That's my point, Darling hasn't missed a game all year as a big key forward which is exactly what we need, and haven't heard much about Lamb for a while now. I know he has been injured but I think right now we need a Darling over a Lamb IMO.

I really hope he proves me wrong though.

I would love for Lamb to play a game or two, 97% on kicking test is what we need in the team at the minute. Asides i think trade picks for players this year and next year the reverse.
Lamb's kicking is not great under pressure, which is what the test doesn't show

As has been said elsewhere, if we could get Ben Reid up here to play with his brother that would be awesome. I doubt it'll happen, but who knows, if he's happy with what he's done with the Pies (a few flags under his belt), I'd be throwing big money at him.

If the Pies keep him, I'd throw the money at their other big defender, Nathan Brown. I doubt the Pies would willingly let either of them walk but definitely worth a try with LRT, Ted reaching late 20's. Pairing one of the previous 2 with AJ and Reg.

Get Travis Colyer too please.

Great idea, but the Pies supporters are also probably talking up the idea of getting Sam from us. Remember, they come from Wangarratta, which is much closer to Melbourne than Sydney. I will be content if we can just keep Sam.

Classic 20/20 hindsight. Darling had injury issues through 2010 as well as concerns over his attitude and discipline. One of the injuries was a fractured skull when he was clocked outside a nightclub - He was then dropped by West Coast during the pre-season for disciplinary reasons.

He's also not a true big key forward and one of the reasons he was passed over by many clubs is that it was thought he was neither a tall or small forward and caught in a bit of a no-mans land. While that hasn't been a real issue, he hasn't really played key position roles this year.

Don't get me wrong he's been great but there were plenty of reasons to pass him over and an injury to Lamb in year one doesn't change that.

Everyone knew that Darling had star potential, although many thought he was a risk and he fell accordingly. Lamb may have been slightly less of a risk but has never had star potential. And, as usual, I can prove I thought this earlier and it is not hindsight. Posted December 3 2010:

He lacks Cyril's foot speed, tackling ability, core strength, agility in traffic, and contested ball winning ability. I think Lamb has the potential to become a slightly slower Mitch Morton, who moved into a role on the wing with Richmond at the end of this season with success. However I feel he lacks the speed to create space at AFL level and will need to rely on heavily increasing his endurance base in order to do so. I regard his strength as his game sense and ability to read the play, particularly in attack. While he does work fairly well off the ball, it isn't a standout. I'd describe his defensive pressure as reasonable to good. He has well above average marking ability, his hands at ground level are average to good. His field kicking is excellent when given space and time, however he can be prone to butchering the ball when placed under pressure, or when playing closer to the centre square. However this is true of many players and I don't think it is a massive concern.

Although some might think he is a selfish or flashy player due to his boots and flamboyant style, this is inaccurate and I think unfair. He is very team oriented in all areas but 1 - he will always have a shot on goal when it is kickable, and does not look to distribute the ball to a teammate. But in all other respects he is a team player, he has good awareness of where his teammates are and can choose good options, and does chase hard in defence (however his forward pressure and tackling is definitely not game-breaking like Rioli's).
