Ryan Griffen for me.
Longmire's first born for Griffen.
we should have picked jack darling instead of jed lamb in last years draft.
Let's at least wait until he's played a game or 2.
Lamb's kicking is not great under pressure, which is what the test doesn't showI would love for Lamb to play a game or two, 97% on kicking test is what we need in the team at the minute. Asides i think trade picks for players this year and next year the reverse.
You don't know that at the highest level, ffs it wouldn't be hard to be better than some in red and whiteLamb's kicking is not great under pressure, which is what the test doesn't show
As has been said elsewhere, if we could get Ben Reid up here to play with his brother that would be awesome. I doubt it'll happen, but who knows, if he's happy with what he's done with the Pies (a few flags under his belt), I'd be throwing big money at him.
If the Pies keep him, I'd throw the money at their other big defender, Nathan Brown. I doubt the Pies would willingly let either of them walk but definitely worth a try with LRT, Ted reaching late 20's. Pairing one of the previous 2 with AJ and Reg.
Get Travis Colyer too please.
They actually come from Bright.
That's my point, Darling hasn't missed a game all year as a big key forward which is exactly what we need, and haven't heard much about Lamb for a while now. I know he has been injured but I think right now we need a Darling over a Lamb IMO.
I really hope he proves me wrong though.
Everyone knew that Darling had star potential, although many thought he was a risk and he fell accordingly. Lamb may have been slightly less of a risk but has never had star potential. And, as usual, I can prove I thought this earlier and it is not hindsight. Posted December 3 2010:Classic 20/20 hindsight. Darling had injury issues through 2010 as well as concerns over his attitude and discipline. One of the injuries was a fractured skull when he was clocked outside a nightclub - He was then dropped by West Coast during the pre-season for disciplinary reasons.
He's also not a true big key forward and one of the reasons he was passed over by many clubs is that it was thought he was neither a tall or small forward and caught in a bit of a no-mans land. While that hasn't been a real issue, he hasn't really played key position roles this year.
Don't get me wrong he's been great but there were plenty of reasons to pass him over and an injury to Lamb in year one doesn't change that.
He lacks Cyril's foot speed, tackling ability, core strength, agility in traffic, and contested ball winning ability. I think Lamb has the potential to become a slightly slower Mitch Morton, who moved into a role on the wing with Richmond at the end of this season with success. However I feel he lacks the speed to create space at AFL level and will need to rely on heavily increasing his endurance base in order to do so. I regard his strength as his game sense and ability to read the play, particularly in attack. While he does work fairly well off the ball, it isn't a standout. I'd describe his defensive pressure as reasonable to good. He has well above average marking ability, his hands at ground level are average to good. His field kicking is excellent when given space and time, however he can be prone to butchering the ball when placed under pressure, or when playing closer to the centre square. However this is true of many players and I don't think it is a massive concern.
Although some might think he is a selfish or flashy player due to his boots and flamboyant style, this is inaccurate and I think unfair. He is very team oriented in all areas but 1 - he will always have a shot on goal when it is kickable, and does not look to distribute the ball to a teammate. But in all other respects he is a team player, he has good awareness of where his teammates are and can choose good options, and does chase hard in defence (however his forward pressure and tackling is definitely not game-breaking like Rioli's).
