Taylor Walker now apparently in Sydney's radar. I've also heard that we're after Goddard and Hawkins. Dawes would be brilliant in Sydney but like Heath would cost us.

If Collingwood lose Dawes to anyone then they would definately go after Sam Reid, persnaly i dont realy rate Dawes but that is based on very little footage i have seen of him so far. I would prefer for Dawes to stay where he is with a significant pay rise.

What could Collingwood or any other team even get from us in trade this year with our first pick comitted to Mitchell. Unless we will lose one of our better players we would only have a pick around pick 40 and 60 to offer.

Another half-back. Nope.

Although stranger things have happened. Can't believe they got caught up in this. Especially considering the amount of money they get paid why would Heath put $10 on to get back $1k knowing full well how much trouble he could get in/ You know it's funny - i put $30 on Spangher last week to kick first goal knowing he would probably play forward. He was paying $67's. I wonder if there would have been an investigation if he kicked it. Who knows, they might have been showing the video of me walking into the Tab to put the bet on
You must have been spewin' when he kicked the behind!

Taylor Walker seems like a bit of a douche, but he's definitely talented and fills a need. I'd support us going after him, if true.

Can't understand the bagging of Dawes.....I think he's been super-impressive. We'd be singing his praises if he was a Swan.

Just stumbled across this one - McVeigh is our captain and you think Longmire and the crew would trade him? Plus he's still only 26 or something - come on guys seriously!

Yeah Walker is exactly what we need. A good pair of hands in the square.

We really have to cull some of the dead wood at the end of this year. Too many players clogging up valuable spots on our list.

As much as I love him, Bevan has to go. I doubt we'd get anything for him but I really, really hope another club gives him a go.

Moore is another one I'd feel bad about letting go as he tries his guts out and uses the ball really well. It's only physical attributes, namely speed and height that stop him from excelling as a player.

Others that should be cut/moved on...

Currie
Sumner
Meredith (maybe)
Everitt - Really depends on how he plays out the season and it seems a tad premature but in reality he's had a long time in the AFL.
White - I think he still holds a little trade value and would definitely get a gig somewhere else.

That's basically 7 spots that could be used to unearth at least a couple of 10 year players. Something that we're not going to get from the list above.

Will be interesting to see how Tadhg finishes off the year. If Horse continues to keep him in the 1's but he continues on his downward spiral, will he give it away at the end of the year? I heard him say earlier this year that he wants to go on and was negotiating a new contract but it ain't looking good atm. Maybe another spot on the list will be opened up. We've already got Craig and Bradshaw coming off the list so there are at least 2 more free spots and hopefully a lot of salary cap space.

On that topic, how does Bradshaw's contract affect the cap? Someone answered it a while ago but I can't remember what it was.

Taylor Walker would be exactly what we need if I trusted our ability to get the best out of slightly flakey forwards with a lot of potential. But considering our track record in that area, I have my doubts whether we'd get the best out of him. He's struggled at Adelaide with the exact same situation we have at the Swans - a workmanlike midfield that just bombs the ball long and high into the 50.

He's barely marked a ball all year, from memory. Never attacks the contest the way he should for a man of his size. Does all his best work at ground level, hanging off packs.

Does this sound like anyone we know?

He would be an absolute weapon at a club that could kick, though. A class above Sumner and a late round pick. That's unders by a good way. Reckon he's worth a first round pick + more from a club that would know what to do with him.

If I was Geelong or Carlton, I'd be going after him hard. The way we did to guys like Hall or Mumford.

If I was the Blues, I'd offer Adelaide one of their small brigade (shit, maybe even Betts) and/or a first rounder for him.

Exactly would love Dawes. Walker in a swap with Sumner and one of our later picks, that way they would get something for him off us instead of getting nothing from GWS.

Taylor Walker's out of contract, isn't he? Doesn't that mean all we have to do is meet his price, not include players as would be the case in a trade?

And yes, it seems Walker is very much on Sydney's radar, and has been for a while. I suspect Jesse's almost out the door.

All this talk about signing another forward when we should be making sure that we have enough cash in the salary cap to offer Sam Reid a very generous contract extension. I believe the guy could become a once in a lifetime player for us.

GWS will be trying to sign him and his brother!

We'll have a stack of room in the salary cap with Bolton and Bradshaw retiring.

More or less agree with this. I reckon we could, and should, trade Bevan to GWS for an upgrade of our second rounder. Win-win for both sides as I see it. GWS won't worry about a slightly worse second rounder given their draft pick riches early on, plus they get a hard, experienced body that can protect the youngsters for 2-3 years, and even better is from Western Sydney! That or let him be signed up and take a compo pick. I'd like to see Moore traded or delisted but retained as a development coach.

A couple of exceptions though:

Everitt is almost certainly on a two year contract, and has been stuffed around this year. Spend the entirety of next preseason working with him as a HFF, get his endurance and core strength up, and play him there all year. He has talent, and should be a nightmare to match up on. If White has been given as much time as he has, Everitt should too.

I assume you've named Sumner to be cut because he has returned to Adelaide? If he wants out, then fine, but there's no indication that his move is permanent. He's sorting some stuff out, and the outcome of that may be that he ends up giving up footy, it may be that he tries to get signed by an SA-based club, it may be that he sorts out whatever is wrong and returns.

I'd like to see:

OUT:
Bevan (traded)
White (traded)
Moore (delisted/traded)
Currie (delisted)
Craig Bolton (retired)
Daniel Bradshaw (retired)

(Maybe):
Meredith (delisted/traded)
Kennelly (pushed into retirement if his form continues to decline)
Sumner (see how things play out)

That's 6-9 senior list spots freed up, and presumably some fair salary cap space with Craig Bolton, Jesse White (who would have been on decent coin given we had to prevent him going to GC - D'OH!), Moore, and possibly Kennelly. Bradshaw still has a year on his contract to run, so I think that's included in the cap, so no relief yet (AFAIK).

Coming into that vacuum, we can target a few big name players. Taylor Walker would be quite a lovely acquisition, and I'd kill for Dale Thomas (can't see it happening though). Add to that Tom Mitchell, with Gordon possibly elevated, and there's still 2-6 places for other draft picks.

Moore, traded or delisted, but retained as a development coach. That makes alot of sence !

That's "traded" or "delisted but retained as a development coach". The way I phrased it made perfect "sence". Obviously if Moore is traded, he couldn't be a development coach.

It also is highly dependent on a role as a development coach being an attractive proposition to Moore, which wouldn't necessarily be the case, but still, if we can't trade him, we've got a position, and he likes the idea, I'd be up for it.
