I wouldn't write this one off too quickly. I think Jackson has been linked to Sydney in previous trade rumours, and while he does come across as an undisciplined tosser, he's got a big boot on him and might be another one we can turn into a better player. With Kennelly gone, I could see him filling a role off halfback for us, and he's certainly not the worst footballer going around.

Along with all the other halfback's? Malceski can't get a game as it is, so I'm sure he wouldn't be impressed!

No we have Mal, and then we also have Sumner (possibly) and C Heath

Maybe reserves watchers can shed more light, but at the backend of the season he was in the bests most of the weeks. bee very unlucky with injuries, would much ather these 3 than Jackson.

Why do you think that Jackson would make a good HBF, what qualilties in his game have you seen that made you think think that

EDIT: beaten by Bedford

We shouldn't be taking anyone unless they're very good footballers, which means it doesn't matter if we have more than enough players for the same position, or unless they can fill a role in our side that isn't currently overflowing with candidates.

Jackson doesn't meet either of those requirements.

Yeah, but who knows what's going to happen between now and trade week. Why would you assume all our players are safe? How would Dan Currie have felt when we loaded up on rucks two years back?

I'm just saying there might be more to this than other rumours, mainly because I think jackson expressed interest in the Swans a year or two back.

We're just spitballing here, right? It's not the club's list management people talking.

Whatever his faults, he can read the play and has a very strong kick. He's an ordinary shot for goal but I think his general field kicking is pretty good. I just don't think he's as bad as others do, and I also don't think the Sumner issue is really an argument. Does anyone really believe he'll stay with us?

Jackson is an ordinary player from an ordinary side who doesn't fill a need or provide anything tangible that would take us closer to a premiership. He would be a list clogger who would take games off our younger players on the fringe of the senior side.

Have to disagree on his field kicking, he is a poor kick, might be a long kick but if it dies straight back to the opposition then its not that useful. From what i have seen from him, his main strenghts are his clearnace work and he is a decent tagger/ run with player, you have to have decent pace as well to imapct on a contest or run the ball out of defense, he is pretty slow, so i just dont see it with him, and even if we did go for him it would certainly woul dnot be with our 2nd round pick, it would have to be something similar to the pick we used on spangher

With regards to SUmner that swith i wrote possibly, but C Heath has been on our list for 3 or so years has been playing good footy and deserves his chance

Pretty sure posters here were similarly negative about Matt Spangher when we picked him up.

We got spangher for pick 70 odd, Jackson they are asking for pick 40ish
Our last two drafts the players we got around that pick were S Reid and L Parker

Anyways read on teh richmond board that jackson said on the b&f night that he is staying at richmond

Having seen a lot of Spangher at the Eagles you could count me amongst those posters, and i stand by what I would have said then, Spangher is not an AFL grade defender.

I still don't think he is a natural defender, however his work as a forward has been extremely encouraging and I am happy he is currently in the team and at the club.

Interesting in Spanghers interview before his debut for us he said long term he sees himself as a defender, I wonder if that has changed now.

Not sure if it's just me but anyone think that we should try and get Adam Schneider back with the departure of Lyon? Could really add something to our forward line and make it complete.

I'll definitely put my hand up and say I thought Spangher was absolute rubbish in his time as a defender for WCE. And I stand by that.

But what he's done for us as a leading forward has been exactly what we need. His inclusion with White, Parker and Rohan (and their consequent work together as the forward line) has been the main factor behind our run over the last month.

All power to him.

Not sure on Higgins, a little too Alfa Romeo for my liking.

Connors, not Jackson, though Jackson is not as bad as some might say. Needs to sort his fV<king barnet though.

Spangher has been a bargin, and will do bung knee Buddy if need be. To think he was training with the Dawks prior to the draft and is now playing a key part in our end of season surge.
I salute Spangher, and the man who convinced club BLOODS to bid for the boy.

The only players who we should even consider trading for are the HFF/Wing types who are excellent offensively. Someone like Higgins, Pearce, or any other of those types are exactly what we need to finish of our midfield.

If somehow we could get Hoskin-Elliot from this draft it would be amazing but our hands are tied with the F/S pick.

We also need to get in a KPF.

Isn't Hurley out of contract or is that just a wet dream......? As for trades, it'd be good to see two of the Jetta's playing together (at Essendon), though I think it'd be more the case of Jetta plus pick #? plus pick #? plus player? to get that done.

Anyone wanting Hurley would have to give up two top 10 picks. And even then they would probably say no.

Tony Armstrong

What do you guys think about the Swans going after Tony Armstrong from Adelaide... From what i have seen.... plays a similar role to Kennelly.... And is a decent kick from reports :thumbsu: which is what we need :)

Rumours were we were after him last year... but it didn't eventuate....

What is his current situation??? What would we have to give up to get him???
