I can't see the Swans chasing a KPD (next year maybe), a medium defender or inside mid/running half back.

imo it'll be an outside mid/half forward or a 5'10 - 6'4 defensive minded utility who has great disposal skills that can be moved forward but would play in the backline in a similar role to Nick Smith otherwise.

A KPF will only be traded for if they come real cheap price/peformance wise or if the Swans are confident about having enough coin to resign Reid and the rest next year.

I think that if White doesn't fire next year, the Swans will tie up Reid and spend what ever loose coin they have on someone to take Whites place.

Recruiting a KPF who doesn't come at a fire sale price when compared to their talent would be a big mistake this trade period when you cast your eye towards 2013 and beyond.

I would think they'd try tie up Reid whether White fails or not!

And now I'll post in this thread, now that it's apropriate.

Think we should definitely go after Pearce, or someone of that sort.

Think we should look to trade White to Carlton, seeing as he ripped it up against them, they're looking for a Key Forward, and might be willing to part with a half-decent pick seeing as they won't need to be heavily looking at drafting. Maybe White + 4th Round <=> Carlton's 2nd Round?

Some at the Adelaide board are saying that we are after Tony Armstrong.

Straight swap for Sumner?

I would like you to expand on this sentence please.

Reid was double teamed against the Hawks, a fair effort for any footballer let alone a teenager to handle. The young man has a great set of hands and is developing a strong body for the contested mark.

What is needed to compliment that is a good lead out forward. Someone who can ensure to drag his man away from any of Reids contests and provide a viable second option. This will allow Reid to flourish with more one on one contests as well as contributing their share of goals.

Who on our list is set to be a lead out forward 2013. Goodes, maybe but looking aside from a player I would still like to have runs in the middle their is Johnston who aside from his lovely kick is yet to prove his ability to get his hands on the ball. White, big question marks over his engine to repeatedly lead and do so on more than one occasion in the same forward thrust. Gordon has apparently also being playing this role in the reserves but again his two senior games he struggled to cope with the speed of play.

If there is a forward option available, particularly one with a natural leading nous I expect the club to try getting him to the SCG a serious shake.

If you want a good laugh go have a look at the carlton board!:D

They think they'll be bringing Reid to their club and one offer is Setanta, Lucas and their 2nd rounder for him!

You should see it now, I asked the question what they consider overs for Sam Ried after one of their supporters said he would rather pay overs for Reid and this is what they have come back with.

Haha, Carlton board definitely vying with the North board for most delusional supporters in regards to Value of some of their players.

Also don't think they are taking into account the fact that many clubs are hesitant to deal with Carlton, as they are not exactly seen as a great club to try get a deal done with.

Which is also something we need to be mindful of, Certain clubs are poor to deal with, and certain others we have a reasonable trading history with. One of the Clubs we have a reasonable relation with is Collingwood, and that needs to be taken into account in how we would go about compensating them in any trade for Dawes. So I just don't think it would happen as I can't see what they would be willing to accept from our list that we would be willing to part with.

Our biggest problem really is that our 1st round pick is off the table, leaves us a poor negotiating position in the hunt for a big FF, (hell we could always try our previous tactic and just pinch someone from the Saints, I hear Tommy Walsh looks like a pretty decent option and hasn't been able to get a run at the Saints.

Another thing to look at is the Suns, Charlie Dixon from there looked great in the early part of the season a Reid + Dixon combo long term would be awesome and they are more likely to accept seasoned players.

Chanel 10 in Adelaide have reported that Sydney are chasing Tony Armstrong.
What would you be prepared to give the Crows for him?

So far only rumours that he might be interested in coming to Sydney, no solid info on that front yet. TBH he might be a resonable pick up for you depnding on what are you looking for ATM. From an AFC point of view I wouldn't be against a Sumner deal if Armstrong is adamant that he wants to go to Sydney. Maybe like an exchange of later picks thrown in if possible to balance to deal out, would something along the lines of Sumner + 3rd for Armstrong + 4th suit you?

Have to say that I would also be mildly interested in how you rate "TDL", what is sort of pick range would you value him at in terms of trade value? Could a straight swap for Armstrong get it done? If not what else would be required (keep it realistic;))?

Shakes hands, done deal.

There is nothing official about Sumner, but like there is just something sus. O'Dwyer the year before had the same thing attached early in the year and he got the flick. Home sickness is one reason but beware, There may be something more.

I don't think Sumner has a future at Sydney and tbh I'm not sure any AFL club is going to be a good fit for this young man, but if the Adelaide Crows can find the missing desire we cant, well good luck to all concerned.

Just exploring our current options ATM, though you're enthusiasm has me a little concerned:eek:. Maybe a change of scenery would be good for him? No one seems sure that Armstrong actually wants to go to Sydney ATM so this may not be applicable anyway. Glad that we have reached some common ground so early in the discussion though:thumbsu:. Now...how about you chuck Johnston in as a sweetener?;):D

Sure

We'll get him to nominate for the draft as a former afl player/draft nominee and get GWS to trade him to us as part of the NM deal and ontrade him to you, no problems.

To be fair many of their posters pointed out what a joke it was.

"TheGeneral" however would have to be one of the most uninformed posters on bigfooty... "The Swans only rate Reid because they don't have any quality youth coming through".

Yeah, no one else on bigfooty rates a 19 year old playing CHF with stats that rival Franklin and Cloke at the same age.

Now, now guys, remember we'd be trading for a young ruckman that is better than NicNat. After all, there is one photo that shows him leaping higher than NicNat at a centre bounce. That's all the proof I need

Re: Lake? found on a rival thread

I would think his to old

"Re: List of Trade Rumours"
Ok , im more suprised that made it on here bout Hirdy .
Ive got a couple rumours .............
Gilbert and Armitage involved in getting O'Merra and Crouch (GWS listed kids) to Saints .
Hampson (carl) to Coll for player ?
McIntosh (NM ) to Port Ade for player ?
Byrnes (Geel) to Saints for 2nd round pick
Lake (WB) to Syd for Jesse White

A fit Brian Lake is someone I definitely would like to see at the Swans. He could hold up FF for a few years.

Yeah I think you might be right Jess is young but just may not ever reach the perceived potential.

Two years of a fit Lake maybe would be well worth it.

Fevola and Lake as our bookends would definitely bolster the teams top 4 aspirations! Whether we would take the punt on either is another story..

The risk with Lake is that he might not get on the park.

The risk with Fevola is that he completely derails our season and pisses on our culture.

The more I think about the Lake trade the more I can see it happening. We'd be recruiting him for exactly the same reason we took a punt on Bradshaw.

That shit about Fev last week was all bullshit as he was leaning over coughing, not spewing. This has been confirmed by the hotel manager. Mal, never been a bit of a lad in your day, i think most people stuff up from time to time but if your a footballer it gets blown out of proportion.

I know the media target him but even by his own admission he's done some very stupid things that aren't good for a footy club. I was one of the people who wanted to take a punt on him when the lions did but I wouldn't want us to chase him now. Not at his age, and with his baggage.
