East Side Phoenix 12.9.81 lost to Fighting Furies 14.6.90
A good season ends as we are overrun in the final quarter

After our win against the Wonders, it was time to go to the Furies. And it meant another journey on the team bus:




As for the game itself, it was a strong start, with a good team move resulting in larrikin , Drunkgoliath and daddy_4_eyes working together to get the first goal:

We had practiced a more handball-heavy game and ended on 35 more handballs than the Furies. Having more possession and sharing the goals around meant we 2 goals up at half time, which we extended to 4 goals at the 3QT mark.

Unfortunately the Furies were in the top 4 for a reason, and despite some valiant defence they got the goals to tip themselves ahead. Our season was over. Milera2Betts and Itsmyshow scored 3, with MannumPower having only 6 HOs against his opponent's 20, but was our top possession getter with 25. por_please_ya got 7 tackles.

All in all, Week 2 of Finals is progression and we aim to go further next season. It's been a promising start for the Phoenix and thanks to everyone involved!

Thanks for the great season guys.

It's a shame for the season to end now, but this season definitely re-peaked my interest in the Sweet FA.

Due to this, I have an announcement to make.

End of Season Stats summary:
  • Rookie thewizardmelon was put in a position to succeed and topped the club in disposals, handballs, violence, and DT average.
  • Full-forward Itsmyshow upped his goal shooting accuracy from last season by over 5%. Incremental gains folks, he'll be due in S35.
  • IMS also finished the season on a nice round 5500 career disposals, and scored his 600th career goal in the semi-final loss.
  • Spending her first full season off the wing, por_please_ya's cuddly side came out leading the team in tackles and free kicks awarded.
  • Departing midfielder SM notched his 2000th career handball in Rd15, and finished the season on a nice round 300 disposals.
  • Because Chipmunk doomed por_please_ya, SM is the current holder of the active player with most games without a hit-out.
  • 11kgm and Shermy played their 50th games for the club in Rd 16. They're 350 behind larrikin.
  • And last but not least, daddy_4_eyes notched up his 150th career game in the semi-final. It's been a long time coming since his debut in S01.

Harsh, but also true. I also led the team in off-field investigstions that led to at least 3 rookies playing poorly that same week 😅
