I wish there was a serious footy show that focussed on analysis, previews and reviews of the games and kept its nose clean of the current affair nonsense. Something to help teach people the game. Packed full of highlights.

TFS really made it big due to two maybe three things.

1. channel seven did NOT let nine use any footage of the footy so nine changed how they were going to run their show. A greedy seven in affect allowed TFS to evolve into a behemoth.
2. Sam! Whatever you think of him, he was and is the show.

3. Maybe this a reason: the start of TFS had a strong host to begin with though Sam was and is everything.

That said, I can't abide the show, never liked it, but that's just me. But can't deny its success

It was a similar formula to Top Gear.

... But I can see Alex Fasolo doing a good job in this kind of role sometime in the future.

I'd love to see Goodes in this roll.
Everyone who personally knows him tells of his sense of humour.
And he certainly has an on field record to rival any of the numnuts that usually appear on the panel.
I watched the "who do you think you are" episode on his history, and there were times that you could see beyond the front he seems to put up.
He couldn't be worse than Brayshaw with his girly giggles and vacuous expressions.

Anyone is better than Brayshaw, but Eddie and Goodes is a trainwreck with Collingwood written all over it.

We'll I never envisaged Ed being back on the show.
Certainly Goodes holds enough of a grudge not to sit with Ed, just like Tim Lane.
If Goodes were to get a go I would prefer Ed not be there. Mind you I'm not sure Sam would be a good fit either.

Sam Newman said tonight on his weekly Monday night segment with Steve Price on 3aw , that Fox won't let Eddie host the Footy Show this year as he has a contract already with Fox.

Looks like Sam has heard this from Eddie himself , as Sam said "hope I'm not speaking out of school by telling this"
