Went past the Wooden spoon game on sat and if you ever wanted to see a display from an onballer go and watch number 1 for abers i think his name is M.Egan, When the game was close he kicked 6 goals in a row from ruck rover... one of the single most brilliant quarters of football i have watched just smashed keilor park

My thoughts are that Abers will go on to win another 3 for the year they are a much better side now with class players coming back from injury and should perform in the second half of the year

Hi Mrs Egan, good to see you got on the the sight ok, I'll let your son know that you had a peak at the game on the weekend, but you could probably let him know yourself when he comes over for dinner on Tuesday....

Go Abers...

Seriously how long do you have to play at a club before your considered from there. Not a Keilor fan but hard to argue that Fraser is not Keilor through and through. Sign of a good club is to hold onto players who could have got plenty of coin elsewhere over the years. Let's wait to see how many Strathmore & Greenvale players hang around as long as Fraser has at Keilor.
Very valid point Driscoll. Around the club he is condidered part of the "furniture", has been around for a long time. Lives in the area, and will most probably continue his association with the club when he retires. Would not be surprised if he becomes the coach one day.

But the thread was around the players that have played their junior footy at their current club. As others pointed out, that was played else where. Agree with you entirely about other players and their longevity at their present clubs.

Cant be bothered looking through the other 777 pages that this thread has provided but just wanted to find about BEN HAKIM for GREENVALE. I have not seen a greenvale game this year but have noted that he averages 6 goals a game and has kicked a few bags so far this year.
Can anyone who has watched their games or who has played against them let me know their style of play with hakim. Do they go to him everytime as i know he is a BIG man... do they have any other main targets up forward or are they as predictable as richmond?(going to richo all the time). Any details would be good...thanx in advance

Not sure how much you know about GV but I'm guessing not a great deal if ur making comparisons between them and Richmond??? Hakim is huge and is getting plenty of opportunities, but wouldn't say they go to him all the time. I think the results speak for themselves regarding whether or not GV have other options when they're scoring about 25 goals a game.....

Benny is massive against Oak Park early in the year and he was dead set hopeless couldnt get a kick and prob gave away 10 free kicks for the match, but since then his fitness has improved out of sight and Greenvale are using him more effectively. Chris Smith is still there target forward which they look to as they are moving up the ground but when Smithy is caught out of position or Benny left man on man in the goal square they kick it to him. He has a great pair of hands and one f the best kicks for goal I have seen. He still has a very immature football brain but you can see him learning more each week and unless a side has two 6ft 5 backmen then they will struggle to hold Smith & Hakim, and if they have got 2 then they will probably need a third to man up Potter when he drifts forward.

First we have heard from you in a while.
Did you have a win on the weekend?
You were very chirpy at the start of the year before a ball was bounced and you have given us nothing since.

"Cabbage"....ok "Mr Potatoe Head", can you let me in on who's going to play on Carey, kicked a lazy 8 Saturday on 1 leg, seem to remember him kicking 11 goals 13 points last year against the 2 blues....maybe we could play the "Eagle" on him??

Go Abers

Just after some info on a former player from this FL, his name in Lucas Ryan and I understand he played for Keilor a season ago.
Any info, club (if I'm wrong), Possy, type of player that kind of stuff. A few clubs are chasing him up this way and I woulnd't mind knowing what they do.
Thanks in advance.
Magic

you may want to stay overseas !!!!

they are s h i t e !!!!

Beaten by abers on the weekend, B grade bound and possibly extinct very soon,

MArbo on report ??

Eagle Two what have you got against KP, seem awful keen to write them off. Can't argue with the B Grade bound part at this stage but where is the threat of extinction coming from. Do you have some inside knowledge?

nothing really, in fact dont know much about them, naturally have been there over time for games and such, but lately seem to have lost their way.

Seems to be a shame, from the outside it looks as if it has lost its way.

I have no inside knowledge, all just observations from the other side of the rail line and some feedback from former KP people.

I think you'll find that the club won't be going extinct. Despite what plenty of people say, there are still a lot of local boys running around in firsts and seconds as well as supporters who wouldn't want to see that happen.

Unfortunately it seems to me that while the club has done well to remain in A Grade this long it doesn't have the talent, resources or support to continue at that level for the time being.

Juniors are an issue but apart from a handful of entrenched A Grade clubs that happens from time to time everywhere. Look at Airport West, when they were in A Grade they went through a long period with inept U18's & U16's. Marby and Avondale are current examples. KP have instituted an Auskick program to hopefully turn that matter around. Obviously this will take time.

As for up and down seasons, that's footy. Have had a look on EDFL website and here is some interesting info not even 3 years old that a lot of people probably wouldn't care to remember. NB. Strathmore people this was the infamous walk off year (sorry, couldn't resist).

My point? Yes KP are battling on field at the moment but every year someone gets relegated, it's not a death sentence. Often it's a chance to shed dead weight and move on again.

Some people on this site need to look at things like the above ladders and realise that success in football is rarely ongoing and that even in it's absence respect should be given to those players and administrators that put in the time and effort to get a minimum of 7 teams on the park each week.

Have just been informed that the EDFL is looking to make the 2008 season a final 5 replacing the now final 4 in A grade seems like a good move in my book to suit what B grade do... what are your thoughts?

I see on the Northern FL forum that Couta and Hollow are nearly certain to finish up at Epping shortly.

I'm pretty sure that Couta Carrick put in for the job or was close to coming across as a player earlier in the year at Douttas.

Can any of you Douttas blokes confirm? - would be handy pick ups at this stage of the season.

You make good Points,

Yes the ladder is a changing situation, trouble is, when you look at the ladder from ten years ago, KP are in the bottom 3 or 4 and still are,

No progress has been made in improving the position or strengthening the club,

Yes there may be some home grown stars in the seniors, but not very many are up to it !!!!

Look at the tallent running around in other sides

All of the better senior players have left for much the same reason, the club is poorly organised, has a culture that is more of a social club rather than a football club, and lacks drive and success

You your self sound like you are well entrenched at the club ???

Are you one of the much needed that gets the 7 sides out each week ?? Well done if you are.

I still think they are in trouble, just cant see how they can be viable in the long term

If this is true, well and truly overdue. Having only 3 weeks of finals is just not enough, extra revenue and will be more interest during the season. Imagine if it was in this year only Abers & KP could rule themselves out of making the finals would make a much more interesting finish to the season.
