No pressure, never under the pump - what about a 41 year premiership drought!!

Premiers & Champions in your first year is impressive regardless of how you look at it. The last team to that was Greenvale in 07 wasn't it?

Pottsy has been nothing but a fantastic coach of our footy club and his work off field although unheralded at times is first class!

Don't dispute his work off field and his connections - never questioned that.
What I question is his ability to get the players motivated to give their best effort which clearly he couldn't do on the weekend.
History of footy is littered with ordinary coaches(and players) involved in premierships. Let's face it even Adam McPhee if coach of Abers last year couldn't have stuffed that up!

How many people on these threads have ever had to take the reins at a club. Everybody always thinks they can coach and always thinks they no more than the person in charge, until they have to be the decision maker. With regard to Potter its a different challenge to coach elite talent versus less talented but no less difficult and i think the result speaks for itself in terms of how well he coached last year. Lots of guys can motivate less talented players to give a huge effort but when given elite talent cant get the same response. It takes real skill to coach, and its a completely different skill set to playing, AFL football is about the last major sport on the planet that doesnt understand that. They think to coach at the highest level you must have played at the highest level. No other major sport thinks like that. ALso it seems that having no experience is the best way to land a head coaching job these days...must be the only job in the world where having a blank resume means you are the best qualified candidate.

I agree, takes real skill to coach(game day), something I think this Potter bloke is given credit for when I believe he is a pretender.
Just look at EDFL Premier Division - you couldn't argue there are more than half the teams with better coaches than him.

No less difficult to coach a gun team than it is to coach a struggling team??? Please , go away, you obviously have NO IDEA!!!

And where have you been involved where you would understand the different challenges that it takes? You only think that because you are an outsider with neither the skill or the ambition to tackle a role...As usual the dickhead point of view based on no knowledge.

Turbo - Who is John Ross and how does he go, just noticed his move on the clearance page from PVFC to WCFC.

C'mon mate , that's a bit harsh

Hey Subway, I don't know a John Ross at Pacco. His not related to the Ross brothers. Is he a senior or junior mate?
Sorry mate..
Giovanni Ross is his name, spoke to a few boys I know at WC and was apparently down at Northern Blues last couple of years. It’s one of two options, he either didn’t play much down at PV or if he did play, you didn’t notice him. Hoping it’s the former!!

Hi mate, you said John Ross. Yeah G Ross played at Pacco but I don't know a lot about him other than he played mostly reserves at Pacco. To my memory only played a handful of senior games over previous seasons. Not sure he was at the Northern Blues VFL mate..

Hey bang, don't upset the bigj mate. His not called big for nothing..!His is pretty knowledgeable though, unlike me. Lol

PS: Love it when someone else is involved in a bit of push & shove rather than me always copping the stray elbow..Lol

That's of course if we assume Bang isn't another one of your many aliases.

You're kidding yourself. Troll time!!!

Long time reader. First time poster!

Cant believe the stuff said on here about Potter. Abers have lost one game now in 21 starts and it was Round 1 2016, not GF Day 2015. We're quick to make rash judgements one week into the start of the season aren't we? Whilst the margin may have surprised i'm sure that Abers will not panic and be right there at the business end of the season. Margins right across the board surprised last week and I'm sure it's nowhere near indicative of what will happen this week. Strathmore have a big week. If they lose this week, they'll need to win 11-12 games of their last 15 to play finals. I'm sure this isn't the position they thought they'd be in after playing only 2 games of footy. Wouldn't write them off by any stretch as they have one of the better lists on paper and seem to have recruited to have a real dip at winning it this year. As we know though games aren't won on paper!

Also interested in to what happened with Potter at Strathmore
Played Good Friday in the twos and then cleared to Oak Park. He may have been frustrated at not being picked round 1 but surely with Tighe going down a spot would have opened up for him? No denied clearance so on face value seems both parties were happy to part ways

Hey mate I don't need to hide behind other aliases identities. For the last time I only have 1 profile. I'm prepared to wear some criticism if need be. I don't need to run away and create other accounts..
I'm the Turbo... Xxxx

One other thing I haven't mentioned anything about Potter or your loss to Marby recently as the side I followed also copped it, so crawl back where you came from.. Now you all know why I get frustrated by some people..

Potter certainly seems to polarise opinion. I've heard from players under him that he was hated at Coburg, but loved at Willy.
Regardless he ended a 41 year drought by not losing a game in the strongest metro competition in the country. Doesn't matter what happens in the future he is a massive part of that clubs history.

Anyway back to the real stuff tomorrow.
Puff - How bad is Mabon's injury ? When will he return, if at all ? Good timing for EDS I believe as they have no ruck stocks either. Keff and Reimers back for the big arch enemy clash ?

Turbo - How bad the PV ruckmans injury ? (Don't know his name). Big Dean Tydell to come in and help out ?

Not how I think it will pan out but here's hoping for Strahmore to pull out their best tomorrow and roll GV, Abers bounce back against EDS and Heights beat Marby in a tight one. Then we really will be in for cracking 2016

Big game tomorrow Gremlin, must admit I have NFI who will win but I think everyone except Douttas were surprised by last week's result against Stratty. Despite all the banter I must admit it is good to have the old enemy back. I hear there will be a big abers representation at the luncheon which is exactly how it should be.

Bangfrom50 = bitter troll with no mates. Keep trying though

You can go on all you like, but when comparing clubs yours has been favoured for years going back to when both clubs were in A Grade. Yes closing the school, housing and the location are an issue but gee that council jumps quick for 1 club. But hey maybe someone new is in charge now and seeing further than 500mts.
It was only a few years back when this club was hoping the other club would fall over so they could take over their ground and use it as a junior set up. Oh no I'm wrong again.. Spare me.. I'm maybe more inside than outside.. I'm off now to drink my coffee from the village. Give me a wave if your close by. I'm wearing a navy suit..

PS: Deefer has set up his account to alarm him when Keilor is mentioned. Gee his touchy..Love stirring him up every so often just to ensure his alive & well..

Been favoured for years have we? Built the sports club ourselves, no help from the council or anyone else. The change rooms were built in1968 by council, and not touched by council until the recent renovation. Paid for and installed the lights ourselves. So give me an example of where we have been favoured by council. As for your criticism of the council people, if you knew them, you would know the guy in charge is by the book. Won't name him, plays in the EDFL, lower division. Don't think he would be too happy to see you malign his group, because of a thought bubble.

Typically inane PS by you as well.

Could ask why you were wearing a suit, appearance before a beak?

Gourdis was playing well and is a damn good player. I'm not saying Keilor didn't deserve to win but Tighe was very influential until his injury, and McIntosh was looking damaging up forward with his height. Anyway we move on as Keilor got the 4 points and seem to be flying at ATM.

To other posters, your correct in that the KP surface is now in great nick but agree the change room set up needs to be looked at. The rooms there haven't changed in over 15 years besides volunteers upkeep inside. Oh they did build the shelter.. Lol Massive investment into the basketball stadium but the footy club could do with new rooms so when it's cold you could watch from inside the rooms.

good to see Turbos mail defending his old club Keilor Park.

Round 2 tips.

Greenvale over Strathmore by 60pts
Pacco over Airport West by 120pts
Keilor over West Coburg by 30pts
Avondale over Marby by 8pts
Abers over Douttas by 36pts

I suppose my only real outsider is Avondale. Think they might have a bit to much firepower on the smaller ground. Clouston & Rose to kick them home in a close tussle.

Others Greenvale to good for Strathmore.
Pacco to bounce back hard and kick a big score.
Keilor rolling along nicely but do have some interesting games against West Coburg
Abers to make a statement and be up by 5 goals at 1/4 time.

Good luck to all sides.,

You've got to be pretty happy with how your mob has started the year. :thumbsu:

Marbi by 3 points. Shaun Whyatt kicks a goal as the siren goes to get them over the line. Unbelievable finish. Avondale stiff considering they took the lead with a minute to go.
Glad I went down to watch.
Any other results ?
