EDFL Premier Division 2016

The EDFL do have the power to
de-register the player in question from their league if they think it's in the best interest of the league. Despite how many weeks he may have accumulated. Other alternative would be if he does line up for the team in question next season. That every other team in premier league forfeit in protest that they don't want that sort of coward in the league. Should see the league take some action then.

Hunter I'm with you on all this. But I think someone has called in some favours and done a deal with the investigation panel to get it reduced. You wouldn't need to look to hard to find out who has got involved. Utter disgrace that Keilor FC want to have this player on the field next season.

It's the reason why this league needs to be cleaned up as well. To many clubs being treated different to others.

I do like how this league let's a bit of argy bargy go by, but we need some consistency.

Can someone also explain how not 1 umpire seen this when there was apparently a bit of push & shove happening prior to this incident. The non officiating umpire should be watching behind play. Did they see it but not wish to report it?? Interesting...
Someone can explain to someone who obviously hasn't umpired a senior game in his life. As I've said before the greatest danger to any player is another player . Note : not the umpire!
When a few dickhead players decide on some aforementioned "push and shove" the umpire watches what is happening. If a player assaults another player at edge of vision or further out , suddenly player down , what happened? Umpire: obviously my fault- not! Even if 3 umps, not sure if this the case, no1 officiating , no 2 goal square etc. There are 4 boundaries. If kick for goal at other end then 1 boundary at each post ( that's 2 for those that can't count) and other 2 at 50m arc that end(4 bla bla). Only hope is goal ump at "push and shove" end. Obviously he's at fault!
The only people who loose control of a game are the players! The greatest danger to a player is another player!
When bored, maybe you can read the AFL rule book. Umpires first obligation is to the safety of all involved, fellow umpires, players , and even spectators! Then to umpire the game in the spirit of the laws. Something hard to do when none of players, supporters and especially coaches are not ( committed to playing, coaching to the aforementioned spirit of the laws)

This is not a late April fools day joke is it, biggest load of rubbish i have ever heard, you cannot be serious. Do you honestly believe clubs would do it?
The edfl has to follow processes as per its rules, let that happen, who knows when this will be all locked awa

IM having trouble understanding this post. But in part I agree on some points:
1- It's not the umpires fault this happened
2- it's clearly the fault of a Keilor FC player.

But my point was, did the umpire see it? If so stand up and be a man not ignore it because it's Keilor FC. The umpires and league and quick to jump on other clubs but do favour for clubs like Keilor. That is FACT.. We are all equal yeah!

Check the tribunal results over previous seasons and work it out.

I'm over this comp from tonight. I have no more to add other than say it a biased competition run by people with no knowledge of the game. Let's players play, and umpires umpire without being influenced by others. And give the umpires an updated rule book ffs.

If the umpire seen it do you think the whole thing would have dragged out this long? You seriously think the umpire would turn a blind eye to a so called "King hit" but send a player off from the same club 20 minutes later for wearing jewellery? The edfl handed out a 36 week suspension against a Keilor player, suspended 2 more from the investigation yet no douttas players cited even though a Keilor player left the field with a broken nose and you recon the edfl are doing Keilor favors? Gee you are thick

Do you really think that if an umpire saw it they wouldn't have reported it.

Please, you are tarnishing the name of every umpire in the EDFL with that accusation.
Just stop and think what you are saying for a minute. That an umpire would risk his own chances of umpiring finals just because he wanted to do a player/club a favour. They are not as biased as you.

PS Pre season training is at Fairburn Park, I'm sure the umpires are looking forward to seeing you there to share some of your wisdom.

Agree very much with this .

If people want this debate to carry on, lets keep it real at least otherwise I'll be happy to put an end to it.

I observe from afar mate....some stuff you post I agree with, some I don't. But just out of curiosity, can you possibly take a pic of your 2016 Laws of the Game book and post it here? If you do, great, I'll walk away eating humble pie, never to be heard from again. If you can't, or don't have a copy, then let's not start ripping into others with accusations of no knowledge of the game. Being affiliated with an umpiring group, I can asure you updated Laws of the Game books are distributed to all umpires pre-season together with coaching sessions, but theoretical and practical. And before you say it....yes, how the umpire interprets the laws and adjudicates on them is up to the individual. If they are not in accordance with coaching provided, the umpire will be hurt come finals time. Keep throwing the opinions out there though. At least you voice them and don't shy away :thumbsu:

The replay of last years Grand Finalists. Aberfeldie v Greenvale It's going to be great contest and my thinking is that they will match up better in the Prelim.
Greenvale have far less to lose in this contest and may just push Abers over the edge.

Can't see abers losing 3 weeks in a row but in saying that I think greenvale are the hardest teams in the comp to stop once they gain a bit of momentum so if abers can whether the early storm and take any lead at the half time break I think they will control the rest of the game and win by 3-4 goals! If not and greenvale get off to a fast start and gain confidence early I think they have every chance to go through to the big one

I'm tipping that the winner of tomorrow's game will go on and win the premiership. Greenvale get the win with big Matt Smith kicking 4-5 goals and being the difference. Keilor for mine were lucky last week and Greenvale will get the job done in the GF

Abers this week comfortably for me.

Abers next week comfortably for me.
Abers still have an excellent defense. The midfield is still very good. Kicking goals is the concern especially if Reimers doesn't have a day out. Abers in a tight one for me. If they get through they won't kick 1 goal 9 in a quarter again but will be a cracker of a Grand Final. The 2 top sides playing off will be a great spectacle. Good Luck to all involved

Head: Abers
Heart: Jets
Hoping for a cracking game, whoever gets up.

Jets and abers on definite trajectories. Jets on the up, De luca in, Abers on the nose, Johns out, Lynch?? And Reimers looked like carrying injury.
Reckon it will depend on Mclean and backwell for Abers and Lower amd Smith for Jets.
Jets now look like biggest threat to KFC

I have been told your club didn't provide any witnesses for the claim of the broken nose. Pretty hard to find a player guilty if you don't know who did it yourself don't you think?

Reimers looks like he is carrying 8 family buckets of KFC not an injury!!! plenty of green grass in his paddock

Congrats to Abers, they worked hard, played as one and are very structurally disciplined . Their inaccuracy would be a slight concern but they're deserving of another crack at Keilor and will go in with their tails up.
Obviously there's been a bit of talk regarding Grants future but it's looking like changes are desperately needed at Section rd.
