i loved that game, hird was brilliant in that game.

Me and a bomber mate, watched that game on a tv in pub Bistro. The main bar's big screen was showing WC vs PA,so we had to sit,out the back in silence (no sound on the TV) with families around us watchin the Don's out play Brisbane for a great win. The price u have to pay:D

The Carton player who gave away the free kick I don't recall.

actually, i think that kick was a point.

Yes point it was. Goal,Point what ever.Who stood the mark for that last shot. He kicked 3 in time on i think?

That goal was not the last one kicked for the match.
I agree, & correct me if I'm wrong but the last goal by Neale Daniher was from a mark on the lead??
Fitzpatrick definitely stood the mark after he gave the free away. But it wasn't the last shot at goal.
I might have to go to the video...

Yep,the Mike Fitzpatrick time wasting free kick happened on (TV view point) the bottom right HF flank. Daniher's lead and mark, about 1min before the bell was on the other side, other flank.Top of screen. He was more at CHF when he took his kick.

I always remembered that as Mark Eustice taking the free kick, and kicking it forward where we scored a point from it. Hawker? or Merrett?

In answer to who stood the mark when Rowdy Daniher kicked the winner, I'd have said Bruce Doull, who was his opponent at the time.
Glenn Hawker kicked it from the wing to Daniher, who marked in a pack of players. That passage of play was 3-4 minutes after Fitzpatrick had the ball taken off him by Umpire Ian Robinson.

Well done Mero- how many other golden apples do you have in your tree of knowledge. The scene is Windy Hill Round 7 1974 Essendon V Richmond, minor fracas at half time. Who was on the ground in the middle of it, who felt like they were wearing two jumpers- a black one with a red sash, and a blue one.

That game had a lot of publicity but I'll make it a bit easier- he shares a name with the guy who coat hangered Terry Wallace back in the late 80's.
Played the odd game for Richmond too, but a lot less than the old coot.

Like nomad, I'll go for Barry Grinter.
He was a copper, hence the reference to the Blue jumper.
The bloke you see him chasing was Stephen Parsons.
The reason he chased Parsons was because Parsons (and Graeme Richmond) KO'd our fitness adviser Jim Bradley.

You've described Simon Madden.

(Actually, I'm not sure if his dad was a footballer at all.)
