In the last Q the dockers looked much more potent with Elvis further up the ground and PAV in the goal square. Elvis had confidence leading for the ball (had more space) this in turn created room for Pav.

It was no coincidence that we got some clean break aways from the centre and came direcly down the ground.

I'd imagine McpHarlin has more pace off the mark than Pav, which makes him better suited to FF. Pav has a bigger engine and therefore is a shoe-in for CHF. Either way you guys have a killer forward line. Jealous, moi.

Elvis was brilliant last week when he had the forward line to himself with plenty of space to use his speed to roam around in. Pav also likes to roam far and wide and with both of them there it doesn't quite come off. I would like to suggest that polly be tried at f/forward and elvis at CHB where he once dominated the position and was best CHB in the comp. He used his speed and marking to provide a lot of run out of our defence.I think polly ,given time would be an ideal FF with his contested marking. Our backline would immediately become strong particularily when hadrill finally returns after his treadful run with injury. You also then have the ability to rotate polly and elvis once polly becomes accomplished at FF. Then there is also the option of murphy at FF once he matures as a player.

Suggest away, but if your thinking of holding your breath untile that happens then you're in trouble.

The coaching staff seem to have confidence that we have at least a couple of options for CHB and that they want the most potent forward structure possible. The advantage of that, which is pretty plain to see in NAB cup games, is that our midfield and half back lines are playing more positively and more directly. Happy to back the coahing plan of having Pav and MacPharlin up forward if that is the result.

Polak has yet to make any position his, let alone one of the positions down the spine. Plenty of time for that, but gee if he could nail CHB I'd be pretty happy.

I do like seeing Pav closer to goal and McPharlin does look better out at half forward. But Happy seems to be the Luke Webster experiment of last year with him playing CHF. Whether it blows up like it did for Luke I have no idea, his delivery and options were a worry yesterday but you can't judge really with the heat and conditions the game was played under. It would have been difficult to think straight.

I like seeing McPharlin closer to goals because he kicks like a girl.

Really I like seeing them one out with their opponents rather than a mass of opponents. I know everones favourite strategy is kick it up the guts but I think we need to look at drilling it hard and low to players like Black and Gilmour on the 50m line. Both can kick it that far. Bombing it long like we did yesterday means its too easy for the opposition to gather in numbers at 30m out ready to descend in a pack on wherever the pill is going.

This 2003/4 mentality will get you nowhere. Polak would be a rubbish FF, Murphy's not up to it. McPharlin is THE man for FF. CHB's are a dime a dozen, good FF's are not.
