Even year curse?

2006, 2008, 2010 ... Will it be lifted in 2012? Does it even exist? Would you group 2004 in that list of 'failures'?

Personally, I thought the up and down seasons had a lot to do with Bomber Thompson. His personality and energy seemed to ebb and flow and this rubbed off on the success of the coaching team and the playing group

I think with Scott at the helm each year will be much more even

I'm afraid we're in for a long drought. It wasn't an even year issue it was a host broadcaster issue. Each time Channel 10 showed the GF we would win, when it was channel 7 we wouldn't. Maybe with Tom and Linger on Ch7 that may change.

I think it's just a reality, rather than a curse. The reigning premier's gameplan is naturally going to be dissected to a much greater extent than the also-rans. With so little seperating the top teams, it's much easier being the hunter than the hunted.

A curse would be a Fremantle-esque injury list from last year.

That would be a massive conflict. On one hand, you want Geelong to win another flag, on the other hand, you don't want the world subject to the steaming piles of donkey shit known as the Michael Bay Transformer movies.

I think the "even year curse" has been extinguished by virtue of Channel 10 no longer broadcasting the GF every second year.
