Played it for just over 2 hours last night and its pretty good so far

The targeting system is a blast with plenty of decapitations from close range with a magnum and lopping off of arms with my pocket knife. Can't wait to see what i can do with some big weapons :thumbsu:

World is massive, and i got out of the vault after about an hour or so

I don't think there will be too many people disappointed with the game, its looking the goods

saw it for 360 and PS3, didn't check out the PC section though.

didn't get my extras for pre-ordering it. anyone else get theirs? It was a limited pre-order thing at JB-Hifi, not the collector's edition.

can't wait to check it out, but still got some stuff to do for work. :(

It sucks, they seem to be getting rid of the extras with pre-orders and going for the upwards of $150 'Limited/Collecter's Edition' crap, such a rip off and you can miss out on some good stuff, but I'll be stuffed if I'm going to pay an extra $60 for some extra content or toys.

What did others get in the GOAT? I was told I was going to be a Tattoo Artist. I wonder if that changes the story in anyway? Probably not.

I activated the bomb in Megaton. I havent blown it up yet. Dont blow it up until you have completed all the megaton missions.... if you choose to blow it up of course. Also dont rely on the lockers in your house in megoton. things go missing from it. dunno if it is a glitch or someone in removing things. probably the former.
 
I was 'waste management' in the G.O.A.T - I took offense!

Pretty cool game. Looks great. Sounds great. Love some of the dialog. - It's often crude and humorous. Took me an hour and 10 minutes to get out the Vault. The Vault was entertaining up until escaping. I felt I hadn't learnt enough of the game's mechanics and inventory to be tested so early. - Yeah I even died!

It's a bit daunting when you get out onto the wastelands for the first time. The place is massive, but also seems barren. I just scurried into a nearby town/shelter where I'll stay until I find my feet. It'll take me a bit of time to know what's what, but everything seems really cool.

And word out to Liam Neeson. - The best damn mentor on Earth at present. (Batman and Obi-Won nod obediently) :thumbsu:
 
Is there any sense in which you should have played Fallout 1 and 2 to really appreciate this game?

I must admit that the reviews have sounded more promising than what I initially heard about the game and I'll most likely get it.

Anyone have any STALKER comparisons? I was so upset that STALKER, a potentially fantastic game, was ruined but such shocking bugs and a horrible shooting system (I don't think that it had any differentiation between shots to different parts of the body)
 
Got this last night and as a huge fan of the first 2 fallout games this is a great game. Love the wasteland and the V.A.T.S system is a nice addition. The weapons are nice and the characters i have come across so far are very well done in what they look like and the dialogue as well. Definitely has that Fallout feel to it.
 
Great game, spent 4 hours, feel like I have done hardly anything so far.

The VATS system is a huge dissapointment, SO FAR. Im sure it gets better as you improve weapons abilities but seriously over half my shots miss, and dont even get me start on if you use it for melee.

Started playing this last night and loving it. The test of a good game is that you get lost in it and lose all sense of time and then want to play it any time you are not. I put in four solid hours last night without realising it.

On a lighter note put in NHL09 this moring (both anniversary presents from the hugs) and started to lose my shit cause I couldn't access be a pro mode. Took another look at the start up screen NHL08 WTF. Right cover wrong disk.
 
Loving this game so far. Its really hard too.

I think I might be trying to do too much too quickly. Facing off against these supermutants trying to get to the radio station, and they're tough as nails

freaking tell me about it. I ran out of ammo as well when facing one, though somehow i got a critical hit with a swipe of my melee weapon.

That mission pissed me off as well as i walking around everywhere trying to get access to it. Turns out i got out at the wrong railroad station :o so i had been going around in circles for no blooming reason.

I got off at a station called 'friendly' something... walk out and there's about 10 raidrs and 5 super mutants all kicking the shit out of eachother, they then start firing grenades and mini-guns at me.

I'm only level 6 atm. I better go do some more levelling lol.

Oh, and

Did anyone else here blow up Megaton using the atom bomb? I did, it was very satisfying

I found a couple of nice corpses to loot after a 3 way fight between Brotherhood of Steel, Raiders and Hunters (Raiders won suprisingly). If anyone knows where to learn the skill to wear Power Armour it would be greatly appreciated :D very lucky find since I'm only level 3.


Btw, you cant fast travel overencombered, currently stuck in the middle of nowhere walking at a snails pace back to Megaton, no chance in hell am I dropping the armour.

You get trained to use Power Armour at the radio station lol. You're going to be walking a long way. There's shitloads of it by then too.

where at the radio station do you learn how to use it? I can't find "The Labs"
 
The game is brilliant, the only complaint so far is the guns i've had access to have been rather piss weak, when I want to kill something in FPS mode i usually waste a lot of ammo in vain and I am forced to go back into VATS or melee attack
