you need to have both points in the weapon type concerned and have the weapon in good condition. In the end you dont even really need that, custom stuff like the railway spike gun and the shishkebab do awesome damage even without any points in the skill.

Been meaning to ask about this, how do you make the custom weapons?

1) Get the recipie (usually from a quest reward or junk vendor)
2) Get all the stuff you need (i.e shishkebab was a pilot light, a motorcycle fuel tank and handbrake and a lawnmower blade)
3) go to a workbench somewhere (theres plenty around, the one in the megaton supply store is free to use and easy to get to)

voila

Ah, I nuked Megaton. I'm regretting that decision, because I'm way too underpowered to get to Rivet City at the moment (though I have survived some pretty intense moments).

Highlight to reveal-->>>When did you nuke megaton? after the side missions? or straight away.
i'm deciding to be nice by defusing it, but when i leveled up i improved my science instead of explosives. lol

you should be able to get to 25 explosives by taking a mentat - saves putting points there if ou dont want them there.

I might have to buy this after work today...

Get it mate, it's ****ing epic.

Played a few late night of it over the weekend; there were a few times where it scared the absolute shit out of me.

It took me a while to get into though - first 2-3 hours I thought I'd return it; but once I got into it, it's excellent.

lol
i'm not to far ahead, are their any other towns which have goods?

and a mentat magtrev? where can you get

All over the place. It's just an Aid item that temporarily raises your Int and Percepion by 5. I think the dude in the bar by the bomb sells them in Megaton.

What's the performance of it like guys?

Runs fine for me, only slowed down twice. Whenever there is a butler-robot in a small room, the rocket that propels it in the air causes my PC to slow down a bit, and in the Jefferson Memorial Water Purifier Control Room, the water that is constantly rippling kills my 3d card. Was damn hard to kill the supermutants there when they appeared to be teleporting.

I'm running the game on high graphics settings at 1680x1050 (antialiasing isn't on full though), (PC = P4 Quad Core, Nvidia 8800 512mb with 4gb of ram) and everywhere else its fine.

The game did crash on me twice, usually if I am stealthed and enter a new area. Thankfully my last save or the autosave wasn't more than 5-10mins beforehand.

I did find a bug, later on in the main quest there are a few escort quests, if you have recruited someone but left them in your house in megaton (was I the only one not to blow it up :P) they will teleport to where you are, and follow you but wont be in your party (then they teleport back to vault 101, it seems to be a bug that they are there in the first place though).

2 questions for you guys, Vault 106, been there yet? (It is quite well done, really cool area)
Sneak, do you guys use it? I've found it to be hugely overpowered, you can easily stealth around with a hunting or sniper rifle (or shotgun if you wanna get close :D ) and shoot anything in the head to get an auto crit, which instantly kills a lot of enemies in 1 shot (I've had Super Mutants and Enclave soldiers die in 1 shot on occasion). Once I get the perk that removes the penalty for running in stealth the game will be easy.

I'm currently sorta stuck along the main quest line at the moment
I've rescued Dad, was helping him with repairing the Water Purifier and was planning to resupply after that, however the Enclave attack, and I'm low on ammo/guns/armour and have to fight my way out, If it ends up a melee fight I'm dead.

Got 2 questions for the people who are well into this game.
1) Does your choice of becoming good,bad or neutral effect how the game unfolds and more importably how it ends.
2) Is the game only located in washington

1. Yes your Karma does have an effect. Currently I have a really high (good) karma, and I have bounty hunters constantly attacking me, they carry a document that explains the contract for your life, outlining because you are a good guy. I'd assume that being a bad guy would be the same. Neutral I'm not too sure, that perk does seem good though.

2. Washington and some of the surrounding arena to the North West. The main questline generally takes you through the downtown ruins (you do go elsewhere), other quests appear to branch outwards.

My current game I started with;
Strength = 6
Perception = 7
Endurance = 7
Charisma = 1
Intelligence = 8
Agility = 10
Luck = 1

With Energy Weapons, Small Guns and Sneak as my Tag skills. I've aimed to be a Good/Lawful Sniper character. Next game I play I will probably be an Evil Brute, high Strength/Endurance, Unarmed, Melee, Sneak as my Tag skills.

ok thanks:)

I've done a few more Quests now, just played it for 'a bit' and noticed 3 or so hours simply disappeared. Even though I'm an RPG n00b I'm getting the hang of it ok, just have no ****ing idea how to level up certain skills as I need them to do a few missions.

i refer you to the earlier conversation about mentats.

ive not seen an early quest require more than 25 in any skill, so as long as you didnt lower your intelligence or perception below 5 at the start: just consume a mentat, the skill will go from 15 (or more depending on how your stats are distributed) to 25 and you can pick that lock or set/defuse that bomb or hack that computer

Have played for a few hours tonight, loving it. I didn't want to leave the vault, I was having too much fun hacking everyone up :) Have since done a few missions and leveled up to 4.

I can see my Melbourne Cup day disappearing like a flash.

Awesome game, absolutely epic. It's amazing how diverse and big the game environment actually is, as well as how much detail there is.

I'm currently completing the quest where... you have to kill the ants nest and now you have to find the young kid Bryan a home by contacting his grandmother who is located in the very south east of the map. I've ran into so many massive mutant guys it's not funny, and you've gotta love the rifles they drop. I reckon i have about 6 on me at the moment. :D

What level are people at currently? I'm just about to hit level 7. :thumbsu:
