Yeah I honestly have no idea about the previous titles (other than assuming there were 3 of them :p) or how old they are or anything but probably wouldn't go out of my way in any case unless they were absolutely recommended... Like going & playing Final Fantasy recently.
Just thought it looked impressive & a decent concept combined with the hype my interest has been acquired. But yeah would assume it would be one you could just pick up, most are these days.

For some reason i thought this came out today and now i am a bit sad

There is a fair lag from when a game goes gold (ready for distribution) to sale. Allows a lot more time for testing during that delay.

I'd rather they find and fix any bugs in that time with a launch update than deliver a buggy game. Plus it means we get the game as soon as possible

Surely they can thoroughly test a game before they actually lead to launch or ready for distribution. How did games ever manage before the internet? I think it is a cop out to expect people to spend $90+ dollars for an incomplete game only to expect them to download a patch to fix issues.

Is there a hardcore mode like new vegas? Im not very good at fallout but i liked hardcore mode. Super easy and thirsty

i guess it depends on what you mean by thoroughly. 100% bug free? not likely. some bugs simply don't get spotted until the game's been 'tested' by 10 million consumers.

they didn't. they remained buggy forever. and open world games were the worst for it (in my experience). elite III was my first patch (on a 3 1/2 floppy which i had to get mailed to me by the game store) and it remained awful into perpetuity.

yeah it sucks, but also i think gamers are entitlement junkies. sure, there are sometimes game-breaking bugs that should never have made it through QA, but many other oversights are just minor or hilarious issues that shouldn't garner the kind of nerd-rage they do.

if it was easy to release bug-free games and never have to spend another dollar on support, why doesn't anyone do this? games are hard to make. and their difficulty increases commensurate with their size, and games are freakin' massive today.

This afternoon I've been considering going to an EB midnight release, till I found out they are charging $90 for PC and $100 for PS4 and Xbox.
How the hell dose EB stay in business, ill wait a few more hours and get it for two thirds their price.

Agreed. Unless they actually make games themselves or have done any sort of programming themselves they shouldn't be saying "surely it's EASY to have no bugs".

The other thing that annoys me is that here's a game that is immeasurably customisable, includes a huge amount of in-game story and folklore, hundreds of different events, thousands of scripted interactions etc etc etc and people are complaining "this particular texture in this one location doesn't look 100% perfect". Just ugh.

yep! i don't mind people's inexperience, it's the level of associated vitriol that does my head in. while my code-writing days are waaaaay over, i still appreciate the ridiculous size and complexity of modern titles. hell, i struggled to get my stupid text adventures to work 100% lol.

exactly. demand everything including the kitchen sink- complain that the sink leaks occasionally. it is inevitable (particularly in massive, open-world titles) that you'll see unexpected/unplanned results from various systems bumping into each other. most of the time it's just funny, settle down!

Are you sure?

The PC version potentially has the update applied to the pre-load

Yeah im sure. The PC version, well download size is diffrent then the PS4. We downloaded 23.8 gig with the first lot then another 200mb. Once it uncompressed it will become 30 odd gig. If you have the PC disk, you only get some of the files so need to download the rest.

Pre order at EB and then when cheaper prices become available before the launch get EB to price match.

I don't think I've ever paid EB's price for any launch title except for collector's editions.

Worth jumping on the hype train without any prior knowledge or experience of the game/series?

Only ask because I watched the trailer & genuinely thought it looked really cool. Just unsure if it's one of those ones you need to have played the original or whatever.

It's amazeballs mate.

Zero requirement to having played the previous ones, infact will probably enhance the experience having not known the Fallout world, if you have a 360 or PS3 can always go back and play them.

Get on it!

I'm 99% certain this isn't being delivered to me tomorrow. JB really dropped the ball on this and my COD preorder.

They are going on the list.
