It is absolutely pathetic by the game not to include tutorial or instructions in regards to quests.
It's like you gotta assume what is needed.
Doing a quest at the castle and I am not even being told what is needed.
For such a great game it's a pathetic thing not to include.

My vats perks are lacking, didn't go deep into perception or agility lol. Generally I snipe one or two from far but it's when I'm stuck indoors and several charge me. I'm built into pistols and crits but mysterious stranger has taken out a few supermutants for me :D

(Autocorrect just changed a misspelling of supermutants into super immigrants. PHEW)

In enclosed spaces I've found dogmeat to be pretty good at holding them in place while I use the auto combat shotgun. He's also able to take one or two down without a problem - I'm lvl17.

I found the energy weapons pretty good against them as well.

If you mouse over the quest in the pipboy drop down it will give you a bit of text to the side describing what you need or where to go usually.

Anyone else come across the guy selling his dog? I bought it and now him and Dogmeat just wander around Sanctuary (I have Codsworth as a companion).
Yeah I saw that and was about to buy until i started to get attacked by super mutants. Killed them and tried to find the dog and his owner but nowhere to be found.

Loaded an earlier save but the dog an owner didn't return. Would be cool if you could take dogmeat and another dog questing.

On xbox one you press RB in the quest section of the pip boy to see the summary of actions you need to do to complete a quest.

Use it often

Are the supermutants the glowing green ones? Saw one from a distance in like a damn of some sort with quite a few other ghouls and things... did not approach.
They are the huge muscly giant guys that speak in Neanderthal voices. They are greenish, but not glowing.

That might have been a glowing one...which is a radioactive feral ghoul

Yeh, must have been a radioactive ghoul.

Maybe try criticals on their legs, it will stop them from being able to run and charge you. Then you can better position yourself to take them on better. Also it sounds like you may need to make grenades your friend.

Does critting them in the legs do much though? I tried that initially since it's what I do against ghouls but after reducing legs to 0 with the odd crit along the way it didn't seem to stop them running so I just have gone back to head shots.

I already nade spam, lay mines if I know where they are coming, use rocket launchers and fatmans, try and pick them off from a different postcode if outside etc, sounds the same as everyone else. I just burn through supplies fighting hordes of them indoors and was trying to see if there were any cheese methods :(.

Oh if it's cheese methods the old tried and trusted method of running backwards and shooting them helps.

The trick is to stop and wait a fraction of a second until the melee animation starts and then run backwards again. I reckon 90% of the time they will miss.

Then auto combat shotgun them.

A crippled leg normally means no more running for any enemy.

Had my first real session today, finally. Got the castle, join the bos, thought eff this and jumped out of the blimp. Pretty sure now preston and Danse wanna shag me, which isnt a problem but in an irradiated wasteland with no condoms and a weird doc that wants to touch me....i aint got no time for that.

At least codsworth has a flamethrower. Then i killed a guy for the eff of it...then he pissed off without saying goodbye..
Lone wander perk here i come

I haven't had to use the fatboy, missile launcher, grenades or mines at all yet, still i'm only lvl 17, do you need to lvl up a bit for the area you are in?

Level 28, up to 2 days played. I've avoided supermutants for about 8 or 9 levels now :D there is a hospital I want to explore but it was full of them so I said I'd go back later.. Still haven't.

Did you kill the ones at the water treatment plant? They were pretty easy.

You don't know fun until you sneak behind a supermutant, activate pickpocket and add a nade to his inventory
Trying that as soon as I get home!

Who needs Stealth. There is enough cover around (including using Strong as cover)I just blow people away or flank when I can.
I found Strong often got in my LoS when trying to shoot with rifles. If you are melee build i imagine he is great. But indoors especially he was a pain in the arse for me.
