As mentioned earlier, if Kate Ellis seriously wanted to join the Crows Board, she would get elected easily. She would do her homework, drum up the right support before nominating.

Average Joe/Joan cannot expect to join the Board of BHP or Qantas. They aren't the people you want running multi-million dollar companies.

Having the Managing Director of a major bank as your president has its benefits.
I would rather that than the managing director of the independent sole trader pizza bar.
I'm not sure what experience Kate Ellis has that makes her so qualified.

Was it her years in the student union at flinders uni or the degree she flunked out on to join politics?

Never had a real job in her life.

I'm all for having a female board member however what I do not agree on is just having a female board member for the sake of having one

As long as the female candidate has the right experience, compentence and business background then I'm happy

To be on our board good connections within the ALP would help.

Her qualifications to govern apart from her looks are anyone's guess though.

Very rare to find a first term Government with experienced ministers.

Politically she managed a pretty rare feat in that she won a marginal seat for the first time during a landslide election loss.

An interesting little side note that sheds some light on the character of this person. This happened just last night....

I was having a beer with a mate, who happens to manage the juniors at a suburban cricket club, and while we're having a chat his mobile rings - he looks at his phone and grimaces....and after a few rings answers.

Coming from the phone all I hear is continual "blah, blah, blah" - cant make out any words, but loud female, angry sounding noise, with my mate trying, but failing to get a word in edgewise for about 5 minutes. Finally he hangs up and tells the story:

This woman's son has only played one game of cricket out of five, and she is not happy, is leaving the club and going elsewhere. She claims her son is deliberately being singled out and not getting selected, the club is cancelling games at the last minute and other nonsense.

The fact is her son played the first game, was then rostered off the second game (too many players - roster system the only fair way to handle it), then game 3 washed out, game 4 heated out, and game 5 washed out - the last 3 would have happened no matter what club her son played for.

No prizes for guessing who this woman is

Self-indulgent and lives in her own world - shame she can't stay there.

Collingwood have just put Alisa Camplain on their board - elite athlete, multiple olympic medallist and I believe executive level experience with Westpac for a considerable amount of time.

That's the kind of person you want on your board - somebody who is qualified, intelligent and proven to be capable; not some windowlicker who thinks not having a penis is a valid reason to get the gig.

fwiw, Port have just added Ms Jane Jeffreys to their board.

Someone with actual experience and business nous, as opposed to someone whos reason for wanting to be on the board is having a vagina.

...and so ends this sad little tale

CHAPMAN, PAYZE RETURNED TO BOARD
The South Australian Football Commission has this afternoon advised the Adelaide Football Club that Rob Chapman and Andrew Payze have been returned to the Adelaide Board.

Chapman and Payze had their three-year terms expire at the end of 2009; but have been re-appointed for a further three years. Rob Chapman started on the Board at the end of 2007, becoming Deputy Chairman in 2008 and Chairman in 2009. Andrew Payze joined the Board for the 2001 season and continues his portfolio as chairman of List Management.

The 2010 Board is: Rob Chapman, Nigel Smart, Alan Sheppard, Peter Hurley, John Sutton, Andrew Payze, Andrew McEvoy and Steven Trigg (CEO).

Unless of course she is so deluded and self indulgent she tries to keep it going.

There was an article in the paper today where she was claiming that adelaide isn't "ready" for a female board member. I know I may upset some people here, but why must some women play the "sexist" card when things don't go their way?

The Williams sister is claiming sexism for her $170k fine too, just because McEnroe didn't get the same fine when he mouthed off (not taking inflation into consideration...)

I don't wanna turn this into a sexism debate, but I thought it was a bit much for her to be saying she didn't get the job because she's a woman.

As it turns out, that hasn't proven to be correct.

As was announced recntly, it turned out to be Deborah Miller.

"Acuere CEO Deborah Miller has been invited to join the Board for a three-year term .........."

I'm surprised that this hasn't made the papers, but my information is that the Crows DID ask Kate Ellis if she was prpared to be a Director.

She said yes, and even got approval from Julia Gillard to accept the invitation.

However, when the nomination of Kate Ellis went to the SANFL Commmission for endorsement my mail is that they knocked it back for reasons unknown!!

Thee Crows are spewing about this, make no mistake.

Very strange!! IMO Kate's high profile and wide ranging contacts would have been very handy given our current financial position.
