Is this really a feminism issue? Seems more like a rubbish political issue. Briggs is a moron, acted like a moron, and leaked info about the person complaining like a moron. A person should be able to complain about a politicians behaviour without fear of leaks, male or female should not matter.Thought there would have been a bit more comment about dear Jamie Briggs in this thread. Where have you all gone?
So pleased he decided to protect the woman's privacy and not naming her.

The leaking of someone's private information is a feminist issue? I'd say it's a privacy issue, something that both genders would experience. Why wouldn't it be?

Uggh what don't you understand?! It's about an evil man doing evil things to a poor powerless woman! It's clearly a feminist issue you chauvanist pig. :/The leaking of someone's private information is a feminist issue? I'd say it's a privacy issue, something that both genders would experience.
If you have a point to make, make it, don't ask loaded questions to try and manipulate others to do it for you. What's the purpose of the leaking?

So any time something bad happens to a woman, it is a feminist issue? This is a briggs being a complete moron issue, and possibly a political behavior issue. To assume that all wrong doing to women, is because of inequality between men and women, does absolutely nothing for equality. The purpose of the leak was to intimidate the woman who had been sexually harassed
Why isn't that a feminist issue?

Yes? Politicians insult each other almost on a daily basis.Sure...
Is Dutton calling Samantha Maiden a ******* witch just Dutton being an idiot too?
What it is about is Briggs saying 'what's the bitch complaining about, look, she's happy here' 'how could I have sexually harrassed her - bitch was gagging for it - see'Uggh what don't you understand?! As you said, it's a person doing a bad thing, not a feminist issue. It can and does happen to men as well.
By trying to claim this is a feminist issue it only proves the point i've made this entire thread that feminism is used as (1) a medium through which to put forth your own personal beliefs under the guise of following an "ism" which is broadly untouchable in the mass media and critique-immune in a lot of people's mind, and (2) a way to spread hate against males.
The reason some try to make anything into a feminist issue is two fold, (1) to take the blame away from one individuals wrong doings and spread that blame across the entire male population and (2) to immunise the actions of all women against critique, e.g, this instance was wrong, this was because there is a power imbalance, a women can never be wrong in this instance. That is it's only purpose. This is an example of the first.

I agree. Not about feminism though. Allthough i believe nothing is about feminism so you cant take my word for it (though you should)What it is about is Briggs saying 'what's the bitch complaining about, look, she's happy here' 'how could I have sexually harrassed her - bitch was gagging for it - see'

This is the point I don't get that people seem to argue against. Why the need to say "oh this is a feminist issue", when it is not an issue that only negatively affects women. Leaks and privacy issues affect both genders, as do dickheads insulting people, just because the person being insulted is a woman does not equate to sexism. How about a focus on "dont go around insulting people" instead of worrying about the gender of the insulted
How is that what I said at all? I said the issue is people insulting other people, it should all be stamped out. Of course different insults are used for men and women. Please try and respond to actual points made. Not by making things up that clearly go against what I saidSamantha Maiden is a journalist.
What you're arguing completely minimises the issue and the preponderance of the insults, and the type of insults and behaviour, towards women.
"Men get insulted too, you wimmins, so precious'
The issue is that he made an unwanted advance towards her, she asked his COS to intervene, this was ignored by both Briggs and his COS. Briggs then resigned and that should have been the end of it especially since he publicly stated that he would not release her details for privacy. He then send s photos of her from his phone and it ends up in the press. How is that what I said at all? I said the issue is people insulting other people, it should all be stamped out. Most likely? Can't say I know any males who would hit a guy for advancing on them. The issue is that he made an unwanted advance towards her, she asked his COS to intervene, this was ignored by both Briggs and his COS. Now if he had made an unwanted advance to another male (straight guy) he most likely would have received a left hook, and I doubt very much he would have sent the males photo around to mates.
Not only is it inappropriate conduct for a politician but also for a male. Why send the photos from his mobile around?

How is this even remotely a gender issue?!
Again. Changing what is said. My point is a human being should not insult any other human being, regardless of both their genders. But please, keep attempting to argue against that."What you're arguing completely minimises the issue and the preponderance of the insults, and the type of insults and behaviour, towards women."
Your argument that other people get insulted too is complete horse shit
so you're saying it was because he has power? He wouldn't have done it to a man? He did it because she was a woman in a lower position he thought his SEXUAL harassment on her.
Well, derrso you're saying it was because he has power?
I'd say he advanced on her because he's presumably a heterosexual male, and thought his position of power would help him.
Again. Not a gender issue.

My idiot was a polite way of putting it. I've made the point that NOONE should behave like that to another person. You seem to be arguing against some strawman that I'm downplaying what he did. Which is not true at allWell, derr
Of course not....he's just being an "idiot"...Just had a couple too many...nothing to do with gender at all![]()
