Agreed.
There was a certain kind of loss that we put up a few times under Worsfold (GWS R1 2019, bulldogs twice.. etc) that just stunk of “who cares... learnings”.
I’d be happy this year even if we are often losing as long as we manage to largely avoid that feeling.
The handover means fans already have a familiarity and while it's his first year it won't always be treated as such. Even though therefore probably lots to be unlearned. We’re close to full rebuild mode, I’m not sure it makes a whole lot of sense to write off the coach 2 months into what is typically a 5 year process.

He should get judged 1/3 of the way in to his first season?
Yes he should.
The transition process that was invented has removed any period of grace for Rutten unfortunately. Unintented consequences and all - not a strong suit of Xavier's decision making process I believe.
Despite Ruttens shaky but improving media performances, I do like what he is trying to do. I hope he succeeds.
But there could be a time after 1/3 of the season, and a couple of bad losses, that more questions will be asked of this club.
However if we are 1-7, I won't care as long as there is a dedication and direction from the players. If there is it is a tick for Rutten from me.
But there may not.
A bit of inspiration for the players. Half of them would've been nodding off during learnings sessions.I like how Caldwell talked of Rutton focusing on the history of the club with his meetings with him.
And this has been a recurring theme over summer.
I think he’s building back that EFC history pride in the group and totally putting the saga away from everyone’s minds.
I like it. I like him.
He seems to be a very engaging bloke and no doubt would be absolutely pumped he’s finally allowed to run the joint exactly the way he wants to.
That enthusiasm is bound to filter through the squad and everyone can forget about Woosh’s detached way of communication.

Correctwith Worsfold?
Correct
In case you missed it:
Essendon coach Ben Rutten (22/2/21)
Ben Rutten joined us for an extended chat about his appointment, how soon we'll see the draftees, injured stars Michael Hurley, Andy McGrath and Jake Stringer, and more.player.whooshkaa.com
I'm genuinely excited for this season now; I'm going in with no expectation on finals or success which is nice. In a weird way.
My real pass mark is going to see if the team has a galvanised game plan and knows how to adapt in adverse situations. The past few years, things have gone wrong and we've just dropped our heads and given up. I just want to see the team lift themselves up. If we need to rely on the enthusiastic younger crop to do so, then I'm all for it.
Truck has impressed me with what he's done with the club so far, and until we get out there and start playing, that's all he can do.
Well no, I expected a better effort than what we've been given thoughso kinda the same as the last 16 years?
Agreed. Get Wellman to present 6 to Jye, Longy to present 13 to Cox, Barnard 16 to Perkins, Hille 19 to Hind, Fordham 20 to Wright, Fletch obviously to Reid, Denham to Brand and Nat-Rat to WatermanTim Watson on SEN had just said that Josh Eyre sent him a text asking if he’d be available to present him his #32 jumper at the presentation. He’ll be presenting the news of course, but they’ve organised to catch up another time.
I feel as though this is a Truck thing, and I’m all for it. Embracing the history of the club and rebuilding pride in where you are.

Wasn’t there something with the SSS acquisitions a few years ago that involved past players?Heard this & was surprised when Tim said this is the first time since he has left the club that he'd been asked to do this, that seems very strange to me.

How many times do they get jumpers presented to them anyway? Number reveal at the AGM/Family Day? Then on their debut they get their match day guernsey? Plus photo day they’re in a match guernsey and any publicity when they’re traded or drafted as well..
