Coaching Staff Former Coach Ben "Truck" Rutten - Sacked for real this time - 21/8

It’s got to be a joke, right? There’s no way surely that the club would even consider that.
It tried to hire Clarkson after he’d already agreed to join North and while we had a coach - who will didn’t tell. There is most definitely a way they would consider it. They would embrace it.

Great post.

Sacking a rookie coach 2 years into the role without previously providing strategically identified constructive feedback is ridiculous. When gaps are identified and support structures are put in place to address, if he still doesn't hit these KPIs then there's a valid reason to get rid of him and get someone else to do the job right.

What's seems to be happening is we haven't identified what the issues are, but we want to get rid of the guy running the show without knowing if he can fix them, while bringing in someone new without knowing what skillsets they need to have
Underrated post.

Genuine question with no silly business. How do you guys feel about a potential Hird reunion?
I’d literally not follow the club for the whole duration that Hird is coach. Rutten can’t have a bad year (after making finals last year with a bad list!) and Hird is welcomed back with no issues for overseeing what nearly destroyed the whole club because he is an Essendon person? Not on my watch.

Has there been a worse period to be a supporter of a club than what we've had to go through the last 10 years? I'm not old enough to remember the final years of Fitzroy - maybe that would be comparable?

Zero success on-field, a shambles off-field, having to endure the worst scandal in football history. Seriously, **** this.

Would do exactly the same as this.

Too soon for me. I hope he can coach somewhere and can go well but what happened back then is still a major factor in what is happening at the club now.

It isn’t Trucks fault the list is devoid void of any leadership but he obviously isn’t the right guy to grow the culture. He has been all talk and no action and this list needs a serious look at itself.

While its right to be sceptical that this club will just make the same mistakes this time around because, this … club — it is clearer that Truck isn’t the way forward. How a coach that specialised in Team defence could serve up the weakest most unaccountable team defense in modern football damning — he should have been sacked weeks ago.

What unearthly spell does Dodoro have over this club?
Keven Sheedy and years of aligning himself with those making the decisions. Really nice bloke. Has a bit of rat cunning . Average list manager that has somehow had enough wins in player selection to convince people he is doing a good job.
