Clarke doesn't have his fitness up to that level yet so you would be asking too much of him yet .
In the Peel Vs Swans game he was not putting in the hard yards when needed which is why I'm making this statement .
Clarke in the forward pocket is a different story and with Fletcher out this gives the Bombers a real headache
Wasn't there like 3 or 4 injuries at the Peel games and no rotations could be done. Take into account fact that Clarke had to fly out Wednesday, fly back out Saturday morning to play a game that day. A bit of a difference. Clarke has been pretty fit last few weeks, just not playing due to maybe discipline.. Besides he did come straight in last year without little or no fitness base against Sydney and rucked the majority of that game..

I was on the bench during the Swans game and officials were not happy with him some he has some fence mending to do before he gets a game ,saying that I'm sure he will respond and we do need him .

My prediction is that Hurley will go to Pavlich, Hooker to the resting ruck. With Mayne probably out, does Freo have any other talls to bring in?

He (Pav) was playing injured to be fair but I'd have thought Carlisle to Pav again after he destroyed him last year, I'm assuming Carlisle will play forward for most of the game then?

Can't see Bomber switching them around when our backline is playing so well, and our forward line finally has some structure to it.

You obviously gave the Freo and Peel training staff the benefit of your expertise as a fitness guru re Clark and Tabs,so Clark out and Tabs in and I'm so glad that they trusted you with the info on Clark needing to do some fence mending just so you could post it on a footy forum.

As usual it takes a few days for me to feel positive about the upcoming game after a loss, but I just read an analysis of the Essendon game that (perhaps perversely) makes me feel slightly more confident.

Apparently Bomber is coaching his Bombers to play like his Geelong. Slick Handball and quick movement. We have pretty good history against that side, especially compared to everyone else.

So long as another Essendon scandal doesn't surface in the next few days to galvanise the players again to play above themselves or become dirty snipers (Ryder), I reckon our manic defence stands a good chance of holding up. Even with missing personnel.

How many times did Geelong lose at Subi under Bomber though? I'm actually less confident because of it tbh.

Bomber has a 6-4 positive winning ratio against Fremantle at Subiaco and 11-7 overall if you include West Coast.

Essendon have also won 8 of their last 9 interstate games across all venues. Much better than the dismal statistics through most of the first decade of the 2000's.

Essendon finding out how to play well at Subi in recent years and the belief that comes with that combined with Bomber definitely adds to the advantage the Bombers have right now IMO, also looking forward to another huge Essendon contingent on Sunday; your players must relish playing here these days.

I miss the days when your mob forgot how to kick a footy as soon as they hopped on a plane.

Salam please I only reported what I saw and heard.
I would have been kicked out of there if I said or did anything unwarranted so if you thought I have any influence your mistaken .
I was rapt to be allowed to be there and sorry I didn't see you

You keep telling me the answers to your questions so what's there to say but hey your so right and guilty as charged .
Just don't be surprised come game day.:)

If Mayne is out surely we have to play Taberner?

Why indeed.

I think I have the ideal replacement for Chopper and that is the Gu.
He takes good catches, reliable shot on goal, has been tackling strongly and runs all day. In my opinion he is more than a replacement for Mayne, he is an improvement.
Chris Mayne hasn't fooled me this year. His ankle has been hampering him since pre-season and if he is not scoring goals and creating defensive pressure, he is a waste of a spot.
Yep, Tendai to the forward flank. Similar size so he is fine for the third defender especially if we swing Mundy and Sylvia through there.

Don't we need Tendai running through the midfield?

I'm sure I could pull some statistics out of my arse, that reflect my impression that, despite a less than stellar record with other teams, we matched up well on Geelong during their dominant years (and still going), with victories or heartbreaking close losses rather than shellackings.

My point is, Thompson is a very good coach and has an excellent game plan. But I would rather play against his game plan than Alistair Clarkson's. We seem to match up well.

If Silvagni's hamstring tightness is over I think he will cone in despite limited footy .
He is able to play Mayne's roll in the past and with Crozier and Ballas to pick up the crumbs he could be the answer .
He might not impact the scoreboard but he will create contests both in the forward line and also in the midfield .

I like this idea

I would prefer Sutty doing that this week seeing Clancee will come back in for Ibbo on the back flank.

Thought we need the bigger bodied midfielders like Clancee and Sylvia to help Mundy with clearances.

Yes. I guess he will return as sub in a game with less injury inforced pressure on spots and result.
Morra is still 7 weeks away but when he's ready then we will have a midfield that will scare ever body in the league .
Mundy , Fyfe , Barlow ,Crowley , Morabito , Hill , Sylvia , D Pearce ,Clancee ,Suban ,Neale , Sheridan , Walters , Simpson and De-boer .
And then is the ruck Sandilands ,Clarke ,Griffin, Kepler and Hannath .
