Gawn and Grundy - a failure?

What Goodwin meant the 15 times he said "Grundy is now at a club where he feels valued" was in relation to Melbourne's VFL team obviously.

Goodwin does not deport himself well. Seems on edge. Twitchy even. Has a weird grey complexion too. Reminds me of Bomber Thompson in his last year at the cats.
Well there is a current court case about this very allegation.

Also, huge involvement in the Essendon drugs scandal. Text messages to Dank asking for "the good stuff".

Felt kinda weird reading Petracca's comments on team selection, not sure I've seen that from a player before, basically telling the coach not to pick Grundy.

One of the worst trade failures in modern draft history...aside from Dayne Beams 😂

Goodwin said they see value in him, unlike Collingwood. Literally the same season he is drafted Melbourne have 2x straight set finals exits and they didn't even play him in any capacity.

How much will Melbourne be paying his salary when he goes to Sydney? An epic blunder by the Dees and more evidence of Goodwin's poor judgment.

Sydney will value him as we have no other choice but to value him given we only really had Ladhams to ruck for us in 2024 if we did not have Grundy.

while the situation is fairly amusing, as anyone with two eyes could’ve predicted that this’d happen, some of the garbage that caro has been spouting about grundy is absurd and incredulous as *.
i’m personally in the camp that while he shouldn’t have ended up at melbourne, and they paid way too much for the kind of player they were getting, there’s nothing wrong with having non-football reasons to choose a club

No the words repeated over and over was they value him ... not just get value out of him as a player... they value him as a person. Goodwin smugly repeated it over and over before Kings Birthday, MFC value Brodie (unlike his former club).

Youd almost feel bad for Melbourne about how disastrously this as gone if Goodwin wasnt such an A-grade tosser about it.

Is the suggestion they didn't select him Carlton final out of spite?

The suggestion is they didn't pick him because the relationship between MFC and Grundy is so sour and it's already decided he won't be there next year .

Which is odd given how only 3 months ago prior to KB match Goodwin banged on and on about how good a relationship they had and how MFC wasn't treating him poorly like Collingwood did . Seems like Goodwin was talking absolute s**t

I find it odd now and even at the time they thought it would work.

Grundy is not a forward , never has been. Maxy was never playing a lesser role to make it work
It actually did work in a pre-season match, 3 goals each iirc, Grundy simply couldn't replicate that system in the season proper. He had a couple of shots on in round 1 then went missing in the weeks that followed. It's a failed experiment at this point but you could hardly blame the Dees for trying.
