Geelong have won 2 out of their 8 finals since the 2011 premiership...could easily be 2 out of 10 in a couple of weeks as well. No doubt they were dominant from '07-'11 but they haven't been a realistic premiership threat since, despite their home and away record.

Shhhhh ... you'll get them more upset, they don't like being told they're not the best
.... wait till Sydney win this year ... they'll be trying to claim your flags don't count .... but their VFA bush-pennant ones do!![]()

I would think that any team finishing within the top 3 after the H&A season is a genuine flag threat, unless there's a supremely dominant H&A team that's finishing on top with 19+ wins. Geelong have ended the H&A season in the top 3 in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017, and in two of those seasons (2014, 2016, 2017) only percentage stopped them from being the minor premier, and in the other (2013) they were one game behind the minor premier.
You can say that they might not have appeared as strong or dominant as they did between 2007-2011, but in the context of each given year, they were/are very much genuine flag threats going into finals in each of those top 3 years I mentioned.
The only years since 2007-2011 where they've looked genuinely behind the top teams were 2012 (finished 6th, out in the first week of the finals) and 2015 (finished 10th).

Still very impressive that your contending again. Hats offThe era was really 2007-2011 no further
LolIt's pretty clear which team has been the best over the last 11 years.
Top 2 finishes 2007-2017:
Geelong - 8
Hawthorn - 4
Adelaide - 2
Collingwood - 2
Sydney - 2
Fremantle - 1
Port Adelaide - 1
St Kilda - 1
West Coast - 1
Most consistent team during the H&A absolutely but what a fool to say we've been the most successful.
Let's say we were both 3-3 you'd still edge us because the win over us.
If two teams win a premiership each but one of them had their win over the other then the other team is definitely more successful. Quite easily.Pfft.
How does that work?

GF's Hawthorn 5 Geelong 4
Wins Hawthorn 4 Geelong 3

We won 2007,2009 Hawks won 2008, now say Hawks also won 2010 then Hawks are definitely better

I think there is an argument to mount that the team that can both have a parade and ruin the other person'a parade is the better team.Pfft.
Bull shit.
So if Collingwood came out and won three flags in 04, 05 and 07 or something, they would have no claim on being the equal of or better than Brisbane.
Who makes these rules anyway?

And the timing is important here. In Geelong's dominant time we took a flag from them.
